Obviously Thorn identified the player, but as Director of Football, then Waggott would I presume negotiate with the player and his agent over any contractual details which would be the length of contract,wages and bonus payments.
Thorn wouldn't be controlling the purse strings as I'm sure Robins isn't either.

A player signed in the summer on a long-ish deal is being transfer listed just months after signing; some blame the man who sanctioned the deal, others blame the one who recommended him after a 'thorough' scouting process. Thorn is thus relevant to the debate.
I am certain you are including those who try to divert all blame away from our mate Thorny as well?
We simply can't say it's a daft decision without being in possession of all the facts.
Let's find out the reasons before jumping to conclusions. You're going to look pretty silly if a perfectly legitimate reason comes out as to why he's on his way out aren't you.

Anytime a player is dropped I do wonder why, but would never say it was a daft decision because I don't see what the manager sees.
Simply wrong to say Malaga going on the transfer list is a daft decision without knowing anything at all as to what is going on behind the scenes.

Well if he's miles better than Wood I am sure a high ranking Championship club will be signing him in January.

Maybe Robins feels he doesn't need anymore centre backs and could use the wages better in his team for another position, or maybe Malaga is the one who doesn't speak English that well so he would be best to leave.
There is allways other reasons why he is on the transfer list.
We should sign Des Walker based on the fact that he used to be good..Wood's a total liability, and one costing upwards of 10k per week at that. I can only think we're playing him to put him in the shop window-it's backfired, he's soiled goods!

No way! Not according to Grenduffy. And sacking the manager 3 games into the season? The was much better than after last season.
And when he was bought in to help Thorn in the transfer window and we signed less players than our relegation peers. That was a masterpiece too. Saved the training ground getting cluttered up with untidy players allowing Thorn the clarity to concentrate all his efforts on the untried kids. And how did the plump oaf repay him?

So, rather than the manager signing players it is the Chief Scout....(when they are good)
Rather than the manager/scout being responsible for identifying, judging and signing players, it is the Development Director. (when they are bad)
