One thing that I have observed with the team, is that we don't have many 'in your face' players. When we/any other team are playing well, it can look effortless - nice passing football, everybody looks confident. At the moment we don't look like a team that will try and bully the opposition, and grinding out an ugly win / draw. I;d love to see a few full blooded challenges by the likes of Simms, Wright, with a few more dark arts from midfield and defence. This really is where we miss Fadz, Kelly, Doyle type characters. Leaders, if you like, particularly when the chips are down. Tuesday night will be a huge match, but we really need to get stuck into Blackburn, and we need the fans (continued) support. PUSB!

You'd think our best 11 should include Simms, Wright, Saka, Rudoni and MVE.
Simms and Wright remain an enigma. I personally think they both care but just haven't got the fitness or athleticism to do what Robins wants. He takes that as not doing what he asks.
Why they can't seem to gain real fitness to play for 90 mins is I guess a mental issue. One that will stop them progressing.

I think Robins having a good squad has turned him into the tinker man and it’s not helping.

Young players need match time and confidence, teams need cohesion, constantly swapping the starting line up isn’t helping.

I thought ipsw did it well last season …. Most matches they started their strongest team but made changes at 60 mins to give the team a renewed energy and stopping players burning out.

It seems a self motivation issue. We were exceptionally lucky to have players like Hamer, O'Hare and Gyokeres in particular who had brilliant personal drive. I just don't think anybody in the current squad has really got that.

Well I'd like to say that as a supporter who spends thousands following this club all over the country every season this bloke has given me the best years supporting City and it's going to take more than 7 league games to make me reconsider 7 years of absolute fucking bliss .

Top post when the going gets tough we back Mark Robins not put the knife in

Their first goal was a great hit - no one was saving that - watch it back.

I think he got his hand to it

Wilson is a poor keeper - the fiasco where he dropped the ball and start flapping around - his distribution is dire and he shouldn’t be in the team on any form of merit

Robins now has made an issue for himself. Does he stick with Wilson? Or admit a mistake? Dovin can’t be happy at being axed for a hapless keeper. Even less so if it persists.

Sadly, I think it's going to end up like last season where it takes a succession of goals he should have kept out before the inevitable happens.

If Collins is at the club and being paid he should be the back up keeper not Wilson, it's a bit of a farce.

Just had a browse of some match threads from this time last year.
It's groundhog day minus people tagging on the previous seasons results.

The QPR thread has people talking about playing Ayari centre mid!

Reading it has actually given me a bit of hope!

It's true. You could listen to any phone it, podcast or read any thread on here.

The exact same things were being said.

People don't realise just how bad it was until mid November last season.

Was in the Leeds end to the right of the Sky Blues fans and although I saw it as a bit of a free hit beforehand, to not even get a performance was concerning.
At the end of the match I purposely waited to see what the reaction would be from the fans that remained which was about a third full as most had left. It was half hearted applause but I was very surprised by Robins going round and patting every individual on the back like it was a case of job well done!

It was a silly gamble really.

He's look at Wilson as someone who he can often rely on for clean sheets. Dovin hasn't come close to getting one this season whereas Wilson has two.

He did the same at Stoke last year and it came off.

And by all accounts King had words with MR around that time about needing to sort it out. Viveash stepped up then, nobody doing it now.

King will have words.

Adi may have stepped up, but he and the constantly mentioned names were front a centre when we were losing 4 games in a row in October and sitting a point above the relegation zone.

He was indeed involved in that, but he was also the one who said to stop mollycoddling these players and to get them working hard over the break.

We let this team go on holiday when it needs extra time together on the training ground.

If like me you went to yesterday’s game you’ll understand the frustration and realise how fucking poor Wilson is.

Yes team was poor also but he should have saved at least 2 out of the 3 goals. End of

I'm not defending Wilson's performance, he reverted to panic mode. I'm questioning that Collins and Dovin would have saved all the goals. They haven't looked great, obv Collins.

Robins needs to stick with a spine of the side for the next few games . Dovin , Thomas , MvE , Sheaf ,Eccles ,Sakamoto ,Rudoni,Simms and Wright need a run of games together
Absolutely.
It's obvious isn't it?
But as someone said above with a squad tinkering is a temptation. But start with the strongest 11 and use the squad for injuries and subs if really necessary.

The Ipswich plan of replacing the front line on 60 is a good one. But they do it because they press so well they need to. Simms and Wright could play 900 minutes and not tire themselves out.

Was told by one poster on here that I was stuck in the 1970’s for questioning that lol. We looked poor before the break and those 2 weeks could have been used efficiently but we let them go away for first week - absolutely bizarre

I still maintain Dovin will be the long term number one but he's done absolutely nothing so far in his appearances here to make people believe he would have definitely saved the second and third goals

Would be even more bizarre if we were the only club to do it .

I can see why the change was made as Robins needed a result and more importantly a performance so had to try something/anything. Ultimately it backfired.

Dovin has played two friendlies where the attendances were 200 and 100, so those who were comparing it to playing at elland road in the championship are a little way off the mark. Have seen people using that argument earlier in the thread.
