Why would any manager prioritise making a loan work over the greater good of the squad we own ?Pretty obvious to me ayari loan could have worked out great for us if the manager had made it a priority to get it to work
Now don't mistake that for me saying robins should have put him before the team. I just don't buy that ayari was shit 12 months ago but is now fighting for CL spot quality in prem.
Why would you ignore me explicitly stating that's not what I'm saying? Why would any manager prioritise making a loan work over the greater good of the squad we own ?
Seems a very weird take
How many points were dropped with him on the pitch for Coventry? No it wasn't.
It didn't work out, but there were no repercussions. There was no risk to it.
Why mention it at all then? Why would you ignore me explicitly stating that's not what I'm saying?
Weird indeed
Lol whatWhy mention it at all then?
You seem to be attempting to excuse your misjudgment of Ayari despite a lack of evidence of ability whilst he was with us. Then, having realised how stupid a concept putting a single loan player of limited ability ahead of the team actually is, you try to back away from the solution by saying that isn’t what you were actually saying should have happened at Coventry, Or Blackburn for that matter. I can only assume you were “just kidding”.
I haven’t watched any Prem football this season, the only Prem team I have watched is Ipswich. I must make a point to watch a match that Ayari is playing in from kick off to see if his current performance levels will make be reconsider my view of him as being a waste of space.
I can’t remember if you tend to be pro or anti Eccles.
I have no idea, and no intention of finding out.How many points were dropped with him on the pitch for Coventry?
The only stupidity I can see here is dismissing Ayari as a player of limited ability. He was clearly to everyone (except you, it seems) a player of very high technical ability, but struggling to deal with the physicality of the league. Then, having realised how stupid a concept putting a single loan player of limited ability ahead of the team actually is
I have stated my opinion of Ayari when he was playing for us and for Blackburn. Even then some people were singing his praises, based on what I have no idea. He scored one goal with his knob and hit the bar with Wright scoring from the rebound - a clever, calculated and skillful assist. That must be where I have been going wrong, I assumed that it was a fluke.Lol what
Why would I back track in my first post. Surely I would just delete the line before i posted it in the first place???!!
Thanks for admitting no one should take your opinion serious on ayari though as you admit you have not watched him play for Brighton
Brilliant.
That's not what you were arguing with me about though. You said I backtracked once I realised I was wrong and I pointed out that makes no sense at all as it all happened within one post. If I realised I was wrong I would just never have postedI have stated my opinion of Ayari when he was playing for us and for Blackburn. On what basis was he clearly a good player? That's not what you were arguing with me about though. You said I backtracked once I realised I was wrong and I pointed out that makes no sense at all as it all happened within one post. If I realised I was wrong I would just never have posted
You are entitled to your opinion on ayari. I just don't agree
We could have got way more out of him imo. The team may have not done as well as a result so once again I am not saying we should have. My only point is that he was clearly a good player and we just didn't see it here because of circumstance not because he's shit.
Hope that clears it up.
We saw flashes of it but mostly it's the fact he's now playing for Brighton in the premier league 12 months laterOn what basis was he clearly a good player?
Doesnt mean he was clearly a good player when he was here though. I personally thought he was poor and was not devastated when he left.We saw flashes of it but mostly it's the fact he's now playing for Brighton in the premier league 12 months later
That's one hell of a year of development then. Well less than a year if we are saying he showed nothing at cov and blackburnDoesnt mean he was clearly a good player when he was here though. I personally thought he was poor and was not devastated when he left.
I am being honest when i say it wasnt clear at all. If it was then why did he hardly play and, when he did, he looked average at best. That's one hell of a year of development then. Well less than a year if we are saying he showed nothing at cov and blackburn
Think it's clear the talent was there let's be honest
So you are saying he's developed loads on the back of 2 underwhelming loans to be premier league level in less than a year then.I am being honest when i say it wasnt clear at all. If it was then why did he hardly play and, when he did, he looked average at best.
Ayari looked a classy footballer with a good touch and passing ability who was way too lightweight for the rough and tumble of the Championship. Teams targeted him as a weak link like they do Tatsu ie they kicked Ayari out of the game whilst Tatsu is older and more savvy, but has still sustained injuries because of weak refereeing. On what basis was he clearly a good player?
Take your point; but I still think a young promising prem RB loan would have benefitted the squad this season.
No names in mind though, so don’t know what was available?

Presumably managers and coaches will have a better understanding of the difficulties of coming on as a substitute. No one is bigging him up on his appearances for us. But he still showed potential. To write him off completely is ridiculous. Also coming on to the pitch and delivering a cameo performance is harder than fans think.

What I meant was that the better insight should have made them recognise his enormous talent even more than you did if the intermittent nature of his match minutes was concealing it to mere football plebs such as myself. Which might have been expected to have resulted in more minutes, including starts. Yet that didn’t happen, he was recalled and sent out to another championship club with very similar outcome.Yes and that is why his career is progressing despite your negativity.

In Robins we trusted, apparently. Yet on this occasion with this player he got it badly wrong in your view, but not in mine.
Ayari’s match performances this season are pretty unexceptional.
I've watched him play on a number of occasions this season and he hasn't impressed at all. He can pick a pass when not under pressure, but he's not as good as Torp or Grimes imo. He wouldn't get in our midfield tonight that's for sure.In the PL, there is less 100 miles an hour football, better refs and VAR, so Ayari has looked better.

That's where we differ the. Because I don't think gyokores drastically got better I think he always had the talent and it was just a case of game time and then showing itHe was just wasn't quite the right fit at the time, he wasn't starting every game at Blackburn either even more recently. It's not like a rapid progression isn't known, look at our other famous Brighton loanee for example.
