Why are people saying that they cut his head off? None of the news organisations have reported that....

Without diminishing the death of a young man, murders happen all the time - why has this one in particular provoked such a response?? Yes, he was a soldier, but does that make his death any sadder than the dozens of people murdered every year? Why no outpouring of anger when a soldier is killed by an Islamic militant in Afghanistan?

Well, yes and no, WillieStanley said the word Muslim, BUT, someone said they shouted 'God is Great' (in Arabic), then followed by 'fecking cunts', now, the bolded is what I find very contentious, and could be racist - depending on context - as my initial reaction to it was, 'does he mean Muslims are cunts' - which would be very racist - but after reading it again, I think he may have meant the people who did the crime.

I couldn't believe this when I heard about it, I thought it was a sick joke, but what I find just as disturbing, is that there will probably be an anti-Muslim backlash because of this, and people will overreact if the murderers are Muslim, because they're Muslims, not be because they are primarily murderers, whoever commits this type of crime, age, gender, religion, sexuality etc. is a disturb individual.

You obviously didn't read it properly, I said, if it was to describe Muslims (as a whole for committing this crime) then yes it would be racist, but I did say if it was to describe the crime, then it wouldn't be racist.

No, 9/11 claimed 3000 odd lives and many more injured, 7/7 claimed 52 people, 700 injured, more people died jumping out of the WTC than people killed by the blasts of 7/7 to have the 2 tragedies on the same level is actually a joke and actually, an insult to 9/11.

Lets not forget that the USA is a country that is excessively nationalistic.

I think everyone shows grief towards soldiers who lose their lives serving for their country, however unfortunately it's all too common occurrence whilst our Government keep the forces out there. Wouldn't say it goes unnoticed though.

But whilst this happens on our own streets, and a targeted crime because of someone's profession (if he is confirmed as a soldier), it causes a worry, and like any terrorist attack, does bring a lot of anger with it.

To think that these terrorists are now in hospital receiving emergency tenement, probably ahead of genuinely ill patients who havent committed a crime sickens me.

Oh and I think a local vicar who lives more or less outside the scene has just said there was a head that had been chopped off (presume he seen it, and isn't likely to lie). Might have mis heard though

Of course, they would say (correctly) that the west has been meddling in middle eastern affairs for decades, whether initiating wars or upholding totalitarian states, causing the death of millions of their folk. It sure doesn't make what happened today okay, but it is important to be aware of our own involvement in global affairs if we're to make some kind of sense of these types of events.

Other than that, yes, an admirable sentiment. Any reactionary talk of killing prisoners, withholding medical care, an eye for an eye, giving immigration a good bash -- it's all very regressive stuff. No terrorist outfit should be given that satisfaction. As a couple of those US presidents said: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself," and all that guff.

What terrorists? They may have murdered a bloke, how does that make them terrorists? Because they're black/Islamic? If I as a non-Muslim Brit kill my housemate, am I a murderer or a terrorist?

There have been a few comments about immigration etc etc - judging by the video, the killer was British - his London accent is stronger than most Londoners I know. But because he's black/Islamic, he is of course an immigrant. This is pathetic - it will just make anti-immigrant feeling in this country even stronger, for no reason. Hope to God there won't be any reprisal attacks.

I wouldnt treat them even if they were the only people in the hospital. And to think we still can't deport someone like Abu qatada who incites violence like this ! Its disgusting. We should ignore the appeal judges and drop the guy out of a plane over Jordan.

The footage suggests he didn't go out with the intention of being labelled a murdered IMO. He had a motive, bringing a religion into it.

Fact check time:
1) we're not in Iraq, we pulled out in 2009
2) the UK and USA have fought organisations that threaten them who happen to be Islamic, we have not targeted "Islam" - there is no reason for Muslims to feel antagonised per se
3) Different nationality soldiers patrolling the streets - the killers in Woolwich were British, they have no excuse for taking "revenge"
4) Congo has huge natural resources as does North Korea
5) We liberated the Iraqis and Afghans, as they could not liberate themselves under the iron fist of previous regimes - the terrorists have fought back there, not the people, because they were being threatened by the spread of democracy

Fine words from an admitted socialist...please don't insult UKIP by branding them with the BNP. There is nothing wrong with nationalism if it is channelled in the right way - look at the Olympics or when England play in the World Cup. We are too shy about being proud of our Britishness in this country - EU integration would be a nightmare. Personally I'd prefer to see us as the 51st state of the US, which we are far closer to in terms of values and culture.

6 years before intervention in Iraq so that's irrelevant, it was 9/11 that made Iraq happen, not the Kurdish-Iraq civil war.
