It's difficult to disconnect immigration to this incident. By and large I believe immigration has been good for this country. However the untethered immigration of recent years importing extremist ideology from all corners of the globe I fail to see the benefit of.
I don't know how long it will take but I m convinced this country will be defeated from within. Far too weak and worried of causing offence while our enemies are ruthless and savage as proven today.

I haven't really studied Russia in depth past the revolution, accept I have read Trotsky's critiques of Stalinism and I know a bit about Stalinism (considering I haven't done it at school) but past WW2, I'm no where near as strong, I'm aware of Glanost and perestroika.

Interesting question, yes and no.

I didn't think he should reintroduce private property, although it was inevitable because it was a state capitalist economy but his reforms of restructuring the state are what I believe in scrutiny of government, pluralism and democracy free and fair elections, in principle I agree with those ideas, unfortunately, I lack the detailed contextual knowledge to go into much depth but I do plan to study the USSR (along a lot of other subjects) at Uni.

I do think that Gorbachev came too late though, Stalinism had entrenched itself into the state and from then, the USSR was doomed.

Agree completely. Its that kind of politically correct nonsense that will eventually turn the indigenous population into extremists as well. Branding people as racists for raising legitimate concerns will just turn people into racists.

You seem really nationalistic, why don't you mention the English Civil War amongst things we should celebrate, after all, that was a great moment in our history, like the French have their Revolution as too with the Americans. Much better sign of national pride than St. George's day, who is remembered for slaying dragons, although that isn't what he did.

What a load of bullshit this is, you simply do not know what you are talking about, this thread moved away from the crime in question long ago and it wasn't me who took it of into another direction.

A) I said that the crime was disgusting, I don't know why people are missing this.
B) Nationalism is a concept I disagree with, I think it unnecessarily divides people, and to for you to say 'I can feck off' is ironic because it goes against the liberal democracy this country built itself on.
C) I stated that this could be a backlash against an ethnic community by which these murderers have come from is not representative of their wole community, furthermore, these extremists have increased in number because of situations that have made them more radical, US and UK invasions in the Middle East as well as the contentious Israel.

I read most of your posts & like many others found your messages/responses distasteful in their timing. You came across as anti-British almost. I'm not the only one who thinks your full of shit. I know what my country did during British Empire, but we weren't as Barbaric as The Germans in WW2. You saying reap what you sow, well I don't see that with Germany, no debt or rashioning after the war, now almost taking over Europe again, whereas we only recently paid off our WW2 debt.
