I'm a bit baffled as to how anyone can be insulted by what Mark Robins has said.

All he is asking for is for fans to go and support the team.

We can't do anything about Sisu, but we can do something to help this lovely little football club of ours.

If you were a regular in you're local pub and a new landlord appears and you can't stand the person would you stop drinking there or find someone else to drink.....? Complete bollocks of a comparison but hey ho i'm off to try and climb quietly up the sqeaky stairs without waking the nagging one up

that's fair enough but why shouldn't Robins at least try something to improve the crowds, especially if he's convinced he'll get the money to strengthen the squad?

I don't think his appeal will change the minds of too many stay away supporters but I don't see the harm in him trying.

Robins didn't move us to Northampton did he?

What are you insulted about exactly? What would you want him to say?

Fans are increasingly incredibly fickle. You obviously don't go, but I can assure you, when the City are winning all the Sisu out chants stop. When we are losing they start up again.

Do you want us to get promotion or not? The way I see it, that is the only way Sisu will be gone, IF we are successful.

We are third and have a great chance of going up this year. There is nothing insulting at all in what Mark Robins has said. There ARE two sides to every story and all he is saying is that we need to see past that. Sisu obviously has some kind of duty to their shareholders, but that is absolutely the last thing on my mind when I take my seat at the Ricoh. Of course there are two sides. He is not saying both sides have the same validity.

Do you think Robins is interested in Sisu? Are the players?

This is just a football team trying to win games.

I will never forgive Sisu for taking us to Northampton either, but we came back, we are here again! We now have a decent team and are doing well.

Would you rather us win matches and gain promotion or sink further into the abyss. We go down there is absolutely no sign that Sisu will go.

Everything Robins has said is not contentious. All he is saying is to put things to one side and get behind the team you love.

Life's too short for all this shit and we cannot get rid of Sisu until they are ready to leave.

I would urge every fan to come back, support their team and try and get this club out of this division. The more fans stay away the more likely we will be out of this division, but not heading in the right direction!

Don't know for sure but I guess Robins only made these comments in reply to a specific question
He's steered a clever path till now by keeping away from this area
As someone said when he was appointed he could be leading SISU out protests every other week but the bulk of fans would only stay with him if the team is doing well
Hopefully he's been around long enough to know this

Peoples decisions should be respected, we have the worst owners in English football, something a lot of people don't easily ignore.

Interesting thread which has brought out just about all the angles re sisu/ccfc whys and whereforths. I still go to most home games missed a couple this season, can count on one hand the decent ones, Notts County, Cheltenham not too bad and obviously Stoke, the rest tripe to be honest one or two shots a game. Took a mate a few games ago on a free ticket, ardent City fan in days gone by, did go to Wembley and why not not with me, he said to me this was the worst football he had seen and staying the 90 minutes a chore, not a NOPM merchant never heard of it just a lapsed fan. I don’t moan at Robins or his recent comments trouble is now the comments attributed to him could come back on him every time we don’t perform starting today at Exeter, win great, draw okay but lose no matter how and he’d better keep his head down a bit.
The low gates (is 7/8000 low in this division?) were predicted after relegation, the reduced season ticket sales also predicted, will promotion bring some back yes a few but along with a promotion comes increased aspirations will our owner meet some of those? As I see it now forget the FA Cup win v Stoke other clubs had their moments too, Newport, Forest etc. It’s what happens from now starting today, we are third and currently in the auto promotion slots with about 20 games left, stay atleast third gates will rise abit I think could go to about 10k drop down and so will attendances, that’s football.
I quiet like Mark Robins but did say on here a bit back he had to improve from what at the time was being delivered or look at himself and change I think things have to a degree and there’s renewed hope but he has history here and fans are fickle can go from hero to zero overnight. interesting times ahead.

Sure, we can respect people's decisions, but then those that are staying away have to accept they are hurting Coventry City Football Club and not Sisu.

Have people had a serious look at where this whole thing could go?

We don't get the support, the manager can't build a competitive squad. We don't build a competitive squad we are going to sink further.

What happens if we go down and then go down again and then Sisu leave?

People are already staying away, not because of Sisu, but because of the lack of quality football at this level and the opposition we play.

If we were non league and Sisu went, we still wouldn't have a stadium to play in and the attendances would be even lower, cos trust me, people are going to be saying they can't be arsed to watch Coventry City against Brackley Town and Gainsborough Trinity.

Can people not see the catch 22?

By the time we get rid of Sisu using this NOPM method we are going to be so low in the pyramid that fans aren't going to want to watch anyway and won't come back to support the club.

You then have to stand back and ask yourself what you have achieved.

It's never been the fans fault why we're down so low, you know that don't you?!

No offense to you Otis but all that sounded like just what Tim Fisher said at the forum, trying to sway SISU's awful decisions by blaming the stay away fans.

No one is "blaming" anyone. Robins is asking the stay away fans to come back as it will help the team. It is obvious that more people through the door means more money to the club.

At the end of the day people have to choose between their football club's future or a protest against owners who don't care about us anyway.

I don't like our owners but I like to think that my continued support - buying a season ticket - goes some way to ensure that we will still have a Coventry City once they do decide to bugger off.

The arguments between us all really do need to stop.

Things have changed though haven't they?

I could fully still understand it if Sisu were doing what the fans have been accusing them of doing, or saying that's what they will do.

Have we been selling the family jewellery lately? Selling all our best players and leaving the manager to start again? Have we not been backing the manager?

Surely you can see the sea change here now. Looks like we do have a competitive budget this season and last season there were high expectations of us selling all our best players and it just didn't happen.

All Robins has said is that what has gone before has gone before and this is now and now we need to back the club.

I don't at all see the Fisher association there I'm afraid.

Sisu have been keeping schtum and the manager is seemingly being supported and at the end of the day we all want Sisu gone don't we? Well being successful is the way to do it.

I want Sisu gone, but I love my club more. Which do you think will be gone first if we don't back the club, Coventry City Football Club or Sisu?

I know which my money's on.

I think once we all realise we all love the club more than hating the owners the clubs sinking ship will start to surface once again!

Robins has started the turn around and we should be backing him, we do that he gets more money we get better players because of it and we carry on progressing!

his comments just reflect that and we should respect them and hopefully it encourages more to come to home games to back this exciting team!

Yes, so when the rent was discussed it was thought to be more likely we would go up than go down.
£1.2 M in the PL would be bargain but £1.2 M in L1 was impossible.
    Bad decision.
Take it from me the new deal will include an escalation as we go up the leagues.

As a bloke aged 63 and although still reasonably fit and in decent health, I keep going to matches because I love football and my football club, but let's face it I don't know how many years I've got before I pop my clogs. So if I stopped going I'd be sitting around wasting precious time and none of us can afford to waste that can we ? Right where's my tablets !

We had the support and were in the Championship when they arrived. Again it is a convenient “spin” by Fisher et al that it’s “the fans fault” if people don’t go to the Ricoh and “we will cut the budget accordingly”
Boddy I thought, may have had a different approach but he has reverted to type when he revealed that “there is a shortfall in the budget for this season” which anyone could have told him that after relegation and ticket price rises, that LESS people would be attending this season. It doesn’t take a Chief Executive to work that one out.

who's saying it's the fans fault? Robins is just asking people to support the team.
Fisher said the owners were to blame for last seasons relegation, how could he say anything different, it was cluster fuck of their making aided and abetted by incompetent managers who they appointed.

All it needs is people who do go regularly to matches is to talk at least one person to go to the next match that doubles the gate and is not impossible!

I talked someone from work into going to Wycombe match pre Xmas. They then took their partner and kid to stoke match. We were then talking about stoke match in office and someone else who hasn’t been all season is now going to mk.

Increasing crowds is a snowball effect

I don't think it takes much for people who have lost the bug to get it again. Attending a game like last week can be all it takes.
Problem is, at this level, there just as likely to attend a game that's so bad it would get football banned and it just validates their decision to stay away.

I was simply stating factual information that refuted your contention that "our only real revenue is ticket sales", extra ticket sales however may be the only feasible source of extra revenue short of selling players or having a good cup run/prestige draw, that I certainly don't deny.

Has anybody else got a nagging doubt that money paid to CCFC is not all going to CCFC ?
Anybody else have a nagging doubt that SISU court battles effect CCFC financing?

It's a leap of faith (taken) to keep attending, particularly at this level of poor football.

True-but the budget set by the hierarchy in the summer was based on higher gates that we are now getting? Anyone with an ounce of knowledge would know that gates would be 8000 at best. Were we not talking on here in the summer of 5-6000 gates at best this season? If they were setting the budget on anything above that they were insane.

Present gates are still bigger than most clubs in league two.

So they're between a rock and a hard place.

If budget is the issue, then setting the budget lower would have left us with a much weaker team and Sisu would be given both barrels on here and receive a dog's load of abuse for us languishing in the bottom half to midtable.

It's not rocket science to believe that if we do well the gates will rise and maybe the thinking was that we could compete at the top and the attendances would be much healthier.

I don't think they are THAT bad, but where we are in the league now, if we keep near the top the attendances should rise to well past 8,000.

This could be our first promotion for over 50 years. I would have thought any City fan would want to be a part of that.
