Doug's sorting it out. He's on the phone.Thought we'd signed somebody from St Etienne at some point.

It didn't need to be a transitional season and was a missed opportunity.
This so called incremental approach is going to be very expensive if we really are following it and don't go up. Endless transitional seasons and bringing in loads of players on long contracts will catch up on us. Not all succeed and we cannot get rid of the ones who aren’t good enough. By year three we will have a mass of players who we don't want under long contracts.
You can be as frank as you want but we were fifth at the time and beat Wolves and almost beat Manchester United. So we were good enough without a doubt. That doesn't mean it was certain but there was a good chance we would have got into the play offs.Well, I’ll put it in more frank terms: we weren’t good enough to go up. Our record against the top half teams was terrible.
Signing EMC or a couple of loans wouldn’t have bridged the gap and Hull are a testament to that.
But, we didn’t get to the playoffs because we lost to all the teams around us…You can be as frank as you want but we were fifth at the time and beat Wolves and almost beat Manchester United. Because we didn’t have enough depth in the squad. But, we didn’t get to the playoffs because we lost to all the teams around us…
underrated and not many will getDoug's sorting it out. He's on the phone.
lol we have never even seen EMC in the championship yet and people are saying he was the difference between making it to the premier league and notBecause we didn’t have enough depth in the squad.
A toast to Football Manager!I unfortunately don’t get the time to go down the enjoyable rabbit holes of foreign player analysis and trying to identify players in the more obscure leagues, so until yesterday this wasn’t a player I had heard of.
However, there’s a few on here who have a great player analysis network (and I think do it as part of their job) - and they all seem to be excited, which is a box tick.
Second box tick is the analysis and stats I’ve read since.
So in the space of 48 hours, he’s gone from an unknown to a player I desperately want us to sign!
£2000 tax rise on working class STH - according to government sources. Also, where is 5 million quid coming from!?!
Good point, but he’d have been one more player than we had!lol we have never even seen EMC in the championship yet and people are saying he was the difference between making it to the premier league and not
Yeah plus £100s of millions being pumped into the club.If you can get £15m+ for Sheaf, I don't know how you can say "No" as a Championship club.
Between that and a potential Vik windfall late in the window, the money could buy you an entire new XI of young, exciting prospects like Stamenic that position this club for a promotion push and a good core of players that will keep you up as they start hitting their prime.
For years, we talked about following the Brentford model. This is exactly how it's done.

Isn't that the same for every team that didn't get into the play offs?Because we didn’t have enough depth in the squad.

There is always an option to pay more to get what you want. Thats life. Doug went for the cheap gutless option. What are you on about? There was no option to buy him early. We paid the asking price.
We hadnt just cashed in around 40 million in 22/23How can you say he got nothing when we spent £6-7m? That is his second highest spend in the time he’s been with us.
What ‘nothing’ looks like is having Kasey Palmer as your only permanent signing in 22/23 followed up with Sean Maguire in Jan.

You believe everything the club says. If they told you to jump off a cliff you would.Have you read anything about this transfer or are you just talking bollocks?

I think you will find you are wholly incorrect.
The fact is we don't have the budget to be competing for automatic promotion.Just to gently wade in on the above debate, I think we still need a lot more quality if we’re to make top 6, and ideally we should be aiming for automatics so that if we miss then at least we’ve got play-offs as a safety net.
If you look at the players that Leeds have (who obviously still didn’t make it out) the likes of Summerville, Gnoto, Bamford, Piroe, Struijk, Ampadu, Rutter etc etc, it’s an insane list of players for the championship. That’s why I personally think we need a hell of a lot more quality than the likes of Eccles, Allen, Dasilva, Collins, even Kitching and maybe Bidwell long term tbh, they can put in a shift but they’re just not good enough to beat the quality of teams like Leeds, Burnley, Luton consistently week after week.
We need much much much greater squad depth and our starting 11 should not be relying on the likes of Eccles and Allen in midfield every week, I could be proven wrong but I believe they’re not players that are going to take us into the prem.
