Sorry if this has been covered already in this euphoria, but we/ the recruitment team, might have unearthed another gem , at a saving of £5 million over Rudoni ……

3m for Eccles, sorry that is ridiculously low. I find it baffling how much some of you underrate him

This thread would genuinely be hilarious if it wasn't for the fact some people are actually being serious.

The combination of the overrating of Sheaf combined with the underrating of Eccles is a mental disparity to witness. The values being talked about on both are like we are having a conversation about James Maddison and Vladimir Gadzhev.

Wikipedia also states he’s our player now.
Wikipedia said Callum Styles was our player last Summer when the rumour was going around about us signing him from Barnsley (who else?). Then it got changed back again to Barnsley by the trigger-happy dickhead who posted it.

Eccles to Rotherham is a bizarre take, Sheaf to Man Utd would baffle me equally

I'll make this point in this thread while the attention is here. It's clear at this point the club is scouting all sorts of markets, we've already seen players come from all over and will continue to do so.
So with that in mind when we do sign someone from within this country, be if Barnsley, Peterborough, Huddersfield or whoever, I do not want to hear the cliché crap of 'we could have got better value abroad' as its pretty obvious that actually, having scouted abroad too, we decided that actually that wasn't the case.

We dont 'have' to make the top two but if we dont who is going to want to leave next summer MVE, Wright etc. At some point to go up we need to keep a stong nucluas of players who know how each others game and gel in a way that makes us a force to be reckoned with. The revolving door might make us some money but will only take us so far. Personally, I think we are 4 players away from being real title contenders and if our owner really wants money from astute player trading (see Brightons sales over the last 24 months) the premiership is the place to maximise their value. If you think the recruitment team we have is exceptionally good why have them operating at a level where we might make 5 to 10 million here and there as opposed to 30 to 40 million or more like Brighton have been?

I am totally anti boom and bust but with the money we generated last summer and with the cup run and viks sell on. I really don't think it's that foolish to keep Sheaf one more season as he will be highly saleable next summer as well. Yes he will have one year but for the right players it's a sellers market.
we don't have to make the top 2, we need to win the league. no other mindset will do.
if we fall short, we get promoted in 2nd place.
if we mess up along the way, we end up in the playoffs.
that's as many options as i even want to consider.

Thank fuck you have nothing to do with running a football club, Christ almighty
People get weirdly aggressively defensive about him as well, relax mate, it’s a difference of opinion. And for the record, I have no interest in running a football club thanks.
