Oh Matty Grimes is magic
He wears his magic hat
Swansea begged for him to stay
But he said nah fuck that
And now he plays in sky blue
He’s city through and through
And when we win the fucking league
He’ll sing fuck swansea too
He hasn’t signed yet ffs, when will our fans ever learn

It will be interesting to see what sort of fee it's for. According to Transfermarkt.co.uk Grimes value is around €6 million which works out just over £5 million. To give some perspective the same site has Rudoni at the same €6 million with Sheaf and Eccles at €7 million each.

Grimes is rumored to be on around £22k a week at Swansea, our top earners are reportedly Binks on £30k and Wright on £25k. You'd assume it is going to be £25k+.

Fuck all to say on the matter until it happens. There’s been enough names over the last couple of weeks with zero result, so…

Love players like this, even more so now we have so much pace in the team.

His short passing is good too and his retention stats are strong so expect a few moans when he chooses the simple ball over a Hollywood one, and conversely expect a few moans when the holllywood ones don’t come off!

Our fans aren’t always immediate fans of ball playing midfielders!

Great signing if it comes off. Albeit I hope it doesn’t mean the end of Allen, it’s proved his worth the last few weeks and his ability to cover that deep lying roll and a box to box/8 role will be excellent for squad depth.

1) He would have been an incredible signing 3 years ago to replace Kelly, or two years ago to replace Hamer. I hope it happens and he will be as good for us as he has been for Swansea.

2) Swansea aren’t going to sanction any move before Saturday.if it happens he might be available for the Leeds game.

3) It might mean that someone is moving on before the deadline. With Sheaf and Wright injured MvE is our most sellable asset and likely to move on in the summer anyway if/when we aren’t promoted, so I wouldn’t be amazed to see us lose him before Monday.

Matty Grimes is the answer,
Pingy balls from everywhereeee,
Pops to the right wing,
Pops to the left wing,
We' ll be scoring from anywhereee'

I know, I know he ain't signed yet and I'm getting ahead of myself but I gave it ago 👍

Looking hopeful if he's handed in a transfer request.

Worst case, this further unsettles them and helps us toward another 3 pts on Saturday!
Seems too far down the line to fail now if all information is correct. What club in their right mind would keep a player that has asked to leave? Transfer fee sounds fair to both sides. Swansea need the money to bring players in.

Not often I get excited about a signing but I have a 12" boner for this one. Makes a side tick like Hamer but without injuries and yellow/red cards.

What do you base that on?
Common sense, there is zero chance Doug or anyone at the club has sanctioned 30k a week for a young CB. Just not happening. Especially when we were quibbling over paying north of 20k per week for established championship attackers.

That figure was based off some dodgy internet site and probably just accounts for average Serie A being ~1.5 m euros a year. But Binks was only really a youth prospect, so I highly doubt he was on anywhere near that

So in short, you don't know, it's just your own opinion. No more reliable than a Web site that you have decided is dodgy.

Everything I have read about him ticks the boxes we have been lacking. Good in transition, Captain material, experience and leadership qualities, should have played at a higher level and can play as an eight or holding midfielder shielding a back 4.
We have history of taking Swansea's best players.
Worried this has come out before completed. Could see a gazumping on the horizon.

Think man! people are accusing Doug of being tight yet he sanctioned 30k week to make a 22 year old center back who was not first choice whilst on loan, reportedly our clubs top earner by a clear 5k...

Who in their right mind would think a League 1 player would demand 30k a week to move up to the Championship then have us agree to it?

Allen, all due respect to him, is a useful role player. Nothing more, nothing less.

He’s put in a fine string of performances and lately and deserves all the plaudits he’s getting. There’s levels to this and players like Sheaf and Grimes are just 2-3 gears ahead of him.
Allen was an integral part of our playoff team so earned the kudos he was getting at the time. Since then he has had the heart scare and two bad injuries. He finally returns to the form that was earning him great reviews and he is not good enough?
He has his faults but has been a major factor in our upturn in form. You don't make peripheral players your captain on the pitch.

Binks? He came from a team that is in the Champions League?

I mean he came from the reserves of a Champions League team and had been shipped out on loan for the last two seasons to lower division clubs. But yeah.

Do people honestly think he's on 30k a week? I thought that was some weird joke.

No chance. 30k a week in this league gets you the finished article not a young prospect
