You’re assuming our club wanted to keep him. Theirs nothing to say they did.
I'm not assuming anything, I'm pointing out Barnsley to Leicester isn't a massive commute for him to want to shift to us for that reason, especially if he lives North of Leicester.

Much as I would like to think we're now a massive club that the likes of Barnsley can't compete with wonder if there's an element of him wanting to be closer to home given the current situation.
This is exactly the reason a decent signing would come here, I was telling a work colleague today. I genuinely believe some clubs will benefit (short term) from the current social climate.

Personally I don't care whether your club wanted to keep him or not. I am happy with the deal.

It seems your club dont want you on their forum? Why are you obsessed with our forum?

That assumes no AM/ST, in which case I reiterate that DM shouldn’t have taken priority.

Just a weird signing. He’ll obviously improve us, I just don’t want it to be at the expense of our own young players developing. And I’m not so pessimistic to think we desperately need him to stay up.

unless of course we sign him in the summer.
not half as wierd a signing as Crowley would be, I had James's sort as one of our two big 'wants'. Now we need a big target bloke

Normal thread
moan about Sheaf
End up looking like you don't know what you're talking about
have a paddy and say you don't want to talk about it any more
bring up sheaf in next thread

It's fucking boring.
Sheaf is the new Burge

Funny how we see different things. I think we’ve been crying out for an AM all season and if we’re going one up front it’ll be vital. We’ve needed to either change things up because O’Hare isn’t getting anywhere or be able to throw on another quality AM to change the game without losing the midfield.

I really haven’t seen a need for DMs TBH, we’ve got Hamer and Sheaf playing well, agree on the need for a target man now we’re going longer in some games and are down to Max and Baka.

We have three in the middle - James Hamer and one of Allen, Shipley or Sheaf

I think we’ll end up with James as a high sweeper, sitting in front of the back four, recycling the ball side to side, defence to centre. Kelly in place if available.

Hamer will have a free role / box-to box creativity. Not sure we have a stand in for Hamer. Allen?

Sheaf as a central mid / passer. They’ve tried him in the high sweeper role - it doesn’t work - he gets caught out. Central mid he’s ok. Shipley as alternative.

O’Hare as a runner / chaser. Giles as alternate?

Big investment by the club
Let's hope he stays fit because he has been dogged by injuries for the bulk of his career.

Lots of times. Most probably seen Sunderland play away more than you have seen us play away.

Unlikely as I hardly missed an away game in the 80’s but then again as you’ve posted more times on there than many on here and certainly more times than the Barnsley guy has on here... but

James is an excellent signing as a fill in for Kelly. Nothing more, nothing less. Just what we needed. His contract is up in the summer so we could have him on a free long term. He has to prove himself. next years budget will increase so wages we could offer would be more than adequate for a player at 29 and released by Leicester. Stay injury free and he could end his career at Coventry. Will he keep his place once Kelly is fit? Who knows. Kelly was awesome before his injury. So we have strengthened really well. What i don't see happening is Crowley. Don't think that is going to make us any stronger than what we have.

The 80's?

So not for over 30 years? I bow down to your superior support for our club Kevin.

I really don’t know why you keep calling me that Alan. You do seem very sensitive. You were last on the Sunderland forum on Dec 8 and have made 1,000 posts in two years. You have to admit slagging off the Barnsley guy when you are clearly more into their forum than he is ours

Still you did name yourself after a nuclear submarine - a true weapon of mass distraction
