Is it Chelsea where the trust owns the pitch so the ground can never be sold without their approval. Council could have done something like that. Why didn't the council who were against football teams moving approach the trust regarding selling the ricoh? Would that not have ensured sisu didn't get their hands on the asset? Secured the club in the city? Secured a semblance of a future? Would it not have given the trust more say in the club? Are we to believe the trust can takeover the club but couldn't have found a way to takeover the ricoh? Wasps didn't have to come here. There were other ways. That is of course if the council were genuine in their statements regarding teams moving from their community......
How would it have been different?
Utterly mismanaged the club for 8 years and brought the institution to its knees
There's as many things you can level at the council. Such as them stitching up the club by buying the land off the clubs agents and flipping it to Tesco, in a deal negotiated by the club, in 24 hours; going back on their promise that the club would have 50% of the freehold; refusing to engage with potential owners who wanted an ownership stake in the stadium; repeatedly lying to the public about the performance of ACL; negotiating a sale to a London rugby club while taking every opportunity to state how disgraceful it was we were not playing in Coventry etc.
What did the council put in? They called all the shots. Veto for them but not higgs? Why was that? Was the rent deal agreed upon what you have stated? Was it not based on HR rental cost? The grants the council got would they have been in part because of the cities football team being there? Sporting argument for funding? Although the council received it, should that not in part be attributed to the club? Thing is, it just isn't as simple as sisu, cake, biggest slice as you like to put it.The club as you put it agreed to a rent figure in leui of having put very little in to the build of the stadium but here I am sounding like a Simon Gilbert chapter.
Blame, slice, sisu, biggest, cake....rearrange as you see fit.
Ah, but we don't mention that. Just the stuff SISU did. We will soon seen the phrases "no choice", "backed into a corner", "what else were they supposed to do?", etc etc.
Where does that get us chief? John mutton and Ann Lucas. I hear a lot of shit spoken about these two. What I know for certain is that they both supported our club for decades and John still attends.
Fisher and Seppalla fans? They want the club to succeed more than fans of decades?
Come on
Not at all but fundamentally the only people that can do anything to halt this demise are the owners and they don't give a shit torch
do the owners of the Butts know that they are involved in a mediation meeting?these starting requirements put forward - all stuff we can get behind
- “Putting Coventry City front and centre-stage in the community.”
- A future stadium solution for the football club, with the club’s preferred option remaining a return to an inner-city home at an expanded Butts Park Arena, groundsharing with Coventry rugby club in a stadium of potentially 15,000 to 25,000 capacity.
Just to play devils advocate turn it around and consider what the response could be (not saying its my view, fact or what will be)
- A future home for the club’s ‘lifeblood’ youth academy, with one potential aim of relocating it next to a new training facility.
“Putting Coventry City front and centre-stage in the community.” Well a good sentiment but what does it mean. Does it conflict with City of Rugby that CCC /CSF etc are invested in? Why would CCC tone down its support for Rugby or Wasps? What does CCFC offer that Wasps do not other than history & heritage? What are CCFC prepared to fund to achieve this? What are the CCFC plans and ideas that CCC could get behind
"A future stadium solution for the football club, with the club’s preferred option remaining a return to an inner-city home at an expanded Butts Park Arena, ground sharing with Coventry rugby club in a stadium of potentially 15,000 to 25,000 capacity" Show us the plans. Proof of funds. What are the infra structure improvements required. How much will it cost CCC. Why is it that option viable. What are the plans & commitments to rebuilding CCFC. How will it work between CCFC & CRFC how does CCC fit in. Timescales. How does it make CCFC better off
"A future home for the club’s ‘lifeblood’ youth academy, with one potential aim of relocating it next to a new training facility." Is it viable. Can club afford Academy in L2. What is going to happen to the funds from sale of Ryton. What site has been identified. Proof of funds to build it. is anywhere suitable available/affordable
Finally and probably vital is what are CCFC/SISU prepared to compromise on
Given the very public stance of CCC and Wasps regarding no talks whilst legals are going on then I cant help thinking activating the JR2 now makes mediation cosmetic at this stage. But that's just my opinion
Torchmatic, of course the owners are not to blame for everything, there was blame to be apportioned in all directions. I just believe that the owners are antagonistic and have behaved irresponsibly in their dealings with other stakeholders. There was and is an alternative way to interact with all parties. And it is patently obvious that the Council don't either. What's your point? That it is SISU 100% to blame?
Councillors should be held to a high standard. Certainly a higher standard than a hedge fund. They are there to serve the public and should be answerable to them. Why should they be held to any higher standards than you or I?
Course it's not the same as saying joy does. They were born and brought up in Coventry and followed their club and served the council for decades between them. What's hard to see?
They do if you assume they can't possibly love the club, if you assume they do love the club it changes it slightly doesn't it?It's hard to see because it's just words. Anyone who loved the club wouldn't have sold it's stadium to a London rugby club. Then approved said rugby clubs training application which puts the clubs academy under threat. Don't care what they say or how long they had a season ticket. These actions speak volumes.
Believe me pete , I don't trust a word they come out with either. AL gave up supporting the club when she couldn't veto the signing of someone who had been convicted and punished of a crime.Fair enough that's not my take on my discussions with them. They absolutely distrust Sisu no question.
We were discussing integrity and whether anyone can have complete integrity. You were attempting to take blame off AL and JM because they had season tickets. I gave my opinion on that. Well swerved though.Absolutely not Zack that's not what we're discussing. Our club is all but dead and I want someone to sort it out and can't see any solution that doesn't start with the hedge fund and Tim leaving
They do if you assume they can't possibly love the club, if you assume they do love the club it changes it slightly doesn't it?
Maybe all parties would be better served in a meditation meeting, in keeping with the peace and reconciliation mantra?do the owners of the Butts know that they are involved in a mediation meeting?
So they were both within council over the many decades while the gas towers stood tall surrounded by wasteland. Since the 1970s ccc had tried and failed to find anyone or anything to use that area.Course it's not the same as saying joy does. They were born and brought up in Coventry and followed their club and served the council for decades between them. What's hard to see?
What did I swerve Zack?We were discussing integrity and whether anyone can have complete integrity. You were attempting to take blame off AL and JM because they had season tickets. I gave my opinion on that. Well swerved though.
