if that! It would be interesting to see how many would be there if us "outsiders" stayed away.

Well it's a good job people from outside Coventry supports club or there would be only be about 5k at the Ricoh.

Bullshit,99% of fans in there are from coventry. I bet most of you have got man u supporting mates and you take the piss out of them saying your not even from manchester. See the link?

If that's the case then I presume you only want owners who come from Coventry and players who were born in Coventry?

And while we're at it I hope you work in Coventry and not outside the City? If so, you shouldn't be allowed to. How far do you take your xenophobia?

Your mate should support his local club like everyone else should. Coventry city was created for the people of coventry, that's why its called(wait for it),coventry city. Did you go to school?

Maybe if you bothered your arse to support racing club then they would be more successful? I bet there's people who follow them week in week out then there's people like you who. latched on to us because we were the nearest top flight club back then.

My Dad is from Cov and has supported them since '52. He took me I didn't have a choice. Thankfully not everyone from Coventry is as idiotic as you.

'The latest reduced offer from Arena Coventry Limited (ACL) quoted at £400,000, but with the additional business rates and match day costs took the actual cost to over £800,000, shows that ACL are thankfully changing their view on the rent. They are realising that the current rental cost of £1.3 million plus £170,000 in rates are unrealistic for a Football Club now.'

This bit's all new though isn't it. The arguments raging on here have been about Sisu accepting the £400,000 offer. Not in considering the cost to actually be £800,000.

As I say, I await ACL's response.

Yep, as the bits an snippets we get through the papers are so clouded and unclear it is hard for fans to form an informed opinion on the situation which is what I have said before

People not from Coventry, do you mean?

BTW, what are your thoughts about players not born in the city? Hate them too?

People like you make me sick.

This thread is going downhill fast, just stop the mudslinging.

I hate it when people say "the fans own the club" or "the club belongs to the community/city" - neither is technically true, as the club is owned by SISU via its overcomplicated ownership structure. Through our support, the fans have a moral sense of "ownership" which is real enough, and it doesn't matter if you live in Coventry or California. The club is also there for the city as a whole, so if you live in Cov but don't support CCFC, you still have a right to claim them as "your club" - especially if your local taxes are going to the council and therefore you are helping to prop up ACL while CCFC chooses not to pay its rent.

To say that "you should always support your local team", in theory I should have switched alliegence between the following during my life: Muharraq FC (Bahrain), Swansea, Crewe Alex, Port Vale, Macclesfield, Man City, Macclesfield again, Man United, Brentford, Swindon and Crystal Palace.

I agree (apart from your usual poor old ACL bit) but once xenophobia came into it then the thread was going to go down the tubes.

Back on topic, I will be interested to see what ACLs response to the £800K is. And off topic, I still await Valiants views on players who were born outside of the city playing for the club. I presume he doesn't like this either?

I can't believe people in their sycophantic efforts to support SISU cannot get their heads round the simple business principles involved here. ACL have their own significant commitments to paying off a substantial loan. I don't give a fiddlers f@ck what Doncaster or any other club have agreed, every case is individual. A reduction is required, we all agree but talking about a league average is plain naive. Costs have to be met by both ACL and CCFC an agreement has to be reached to suit both business needs.

Valiant- I'm rarely drawn into dispute, keyboard warrior is not my thing. To your credit your passion for your club is admirable, but you have somewhat rankled.

I was born in Oxford- My parents moved there prior to my birth from Nuneaton, but soon moved back. My late grandfather, My late father, me and now my son have, are and will forever be sky blue. We do occasionally visit my now local team "the Boro".. why not?
...My tenure as a CCFC season ticket holder is 35 consecutive years. Thick, thin and thinner...never waning.
Do I deserve your wrath? If so which team should I support in your opinion?

What are you on about players for? I never mentioned players. In an ideal world i would love a team of locals cos they'd give that bit extra. As I've already asked you,why dont you support racing club?

Agree with that except the bit about the rent reduction being needed - I don't see why SISU can't just keep paying the rent as it is now, just as they did for years. Afterall, they accepted it in the first place because they thought that £1.2m rent in the Premier would be easily affordable, as indeed it is. Yes it's high for League One, but whose fault is it that we are in League one not the Premier?? SISU!!

Er... wasn't it originally created as Singers FC, which was a factory, not a city?

PS: I'm working my way forward through this thread so I apologise if this point has been made late on.

So to be allowed to support CCFC you must have been born in Cov and be currently resident in Cov. Just to check how many generations back do we have to go back in the family tree to qualify? Maybe those of us brazen enough to go to matches and not be of pure racial credentials should be identified with maybe a sky blue star sewn to our clothing.
