I've noticed that lots of these poor bedraggled souls emerge from their dinghy boats better clothed than I ever used to be.

I referred to 'educate yourself' based on my experience.
Back in 80s as an arrogant little shit of a teenager with no experience of the world or life and from a white area with white friends I was mildy racist, sexist, homophobic etc. Not proud of it.
I went off to uni and everything changed - I learnt about the world, society and people and met a diverse range of amazing open minded, intelligent and creative people. I realised then that ignorance, bigotry and hatred needs calling out. We owe to our kids and future grandchildren to make the world a better nicer place.
