This is what I’ve always argued - never got Newcastle’s aura and entitlement to challenging. Even we have won a major trophy more recent than them.He appointed him and then sacked him
The belief Newcastle are some powerhouse is laughable - they last won a major domestic trophy the year the electric television was invented
All of this, were it not for the strong possibility that King could sell up/ partner venture with Ashley up to the Premier League. Ashley would be an equal partner with King, Ashley would need a good offer for ACL and then Doug would make a right mess of things. My opinion. If Ashley does have ambition to own ccfc I suspect he is in no hurry to do so. I think he saw an opportunity to add valuable real estate for a very modest sum to his overall portfolio. Whilst he owns house of fraser its his son in law that runs the group. Of course he has input but is he hands on at the stadium almost certainly not. A relatively cheap investment gives house of fraser all sorts of options and leaves others with big and possibly expensive decisions to make
I think we are at least for some years going to be in the hands of Mr King. With Seppala lurking in the background. Might be intended to be like that but not convinced there isn't a large amount of miscalculation as to how ccfc managed to miss out on the best chance of owning the stadium, it could easily be we never do.
The Arena needs investment and professional marketing. What would the insects know about running a major venue (answer = nowt) NEC wanted it to make a profit and they would know how to do it. MA? who knows? bulldoze and give it sports direct? anything is possible. Just hope the Sky Blues can hang in there and do well PUSBA lease to play there for the club, the fact ACL have totally run out of cash suggests it's by no means a certainty it's a cash cow, and the fact that getting the club debt free, as opposed to Ranson debt free, releases the club from interest generated debt, making it easier to run in a 'sustainable' way and, in theory, means more budget for the playing side.

One else understand how they feel about football blah blah - wankers. This is what I’ve always argued - never got Newcastle’s aura and entitlement to challenging. Even we have won a major trophy more recent than them.
If Ashley is interested it makes sense to get an offer in as quickly as possible. We're in a decent position and a few quid in January could see us actually challenge for promotion. he'd be seen as a hero if he took over and a few months later we were in the Prem.My opinion. What position did he play for us against QPR m8?
Me too
My initial thoughts through the quotes he was a new fall guy fo.r sisu ,but have come to conclude can't see him being so owing to all the statements directed back to him.I hate the term ‘The jury’s out’. I agree, my skepticism is drawn from 15 years of off-pitch angst. His takeover has So many red flags. His late bid for the stadium, SISU in disguise? There is no point being a white knight if you trot in after the event.
The land is valuable and Sports Direct have been looking for a new location for a hub for a while. So yes I am real. Most things are possible. I did not say likely.Bulldoze !! Are you for real?
He’s moving to Ansty. It’s a done deal. They’ve already put some of the infrastructure in with reworking existing road junctions etc.The land is valuable and Sports Direct have been looking for a new location for a hub for a while. So yes I am real. Most things are possible. I did not say likely.
You know he doesn’t own the freehold right? He can’t just bulldoze the stadiumThe land is valuable and Sports Direct have been looking for a new location for a hub for a while. So yes I am real. Most things are possible. I did not say likely.
The problem is, he won't own the land the stadium is built on. I would say to bulldoze it and build a warehouse on the land would be full of problems and not particularly likely to succeed, even if CCC agreed to it.
So if CCFC have a lease to play at CBS for another 8 years, surely that means (and I can't see this happening anyway) any thoughts of demolishing the stadium can't happen until after this time.
And I won't care by thenThey can’t happen in the next 242 years…

When we move to Warwick Uni, then they might have to have a re-think.They can’t happen in the next 242 years…

(In all seriousness, our illustrious owner needs to decide what his next cunning plan is, and announce whatever his sliding scale of plans for the next 50 years for us is, really.)
Pretty much what it boils down to. See what this club can do when it's not forced to work with a handicap every season.Back the manager and see if he can make it to the promised land before he leaves and we go back to a midtable L1 side?
He can if a dodgy Council CEO gave him the green light to (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)You know he doesn’t own the freehold right? He can’t just bulldoze the stadium
That's what I'd do if I had uggins of the folding stuff.Back the manager and see if he can make it to the promised land before he leaves and we go back to a midtable L1 side?
To be fair, 17th in the Premier league is something we can only dream of.NUFC fan.....I come in peace
Mike Ashley should not be allowed anywhere near your club or ground and god forbid if he ends up buying both as for some reason everyone outside of Newcastle / North East thinks he's the Pied Piper.
He is a bloodsucking leech who will suck the life out of your club not at first but very slowly so you don't notice and in the beginning will be drinking with the fans / trying to be one of the boys, but in reality is a fat Cockney Spiv. Yes he would pump money in / pay debts (in reality money just gets moved around between his various companies / interrst free loans / dividends paid to him) which will be great in short term to secure your club.
If you made to the premier league just be happy with shit football and a 17th place finnish because that would be all youd get as all he's after is the £170 million tv money every year with little or no expendituree, and a relagtion every few years is ok as parachute payment comes in handy.
You have been warned......good luck I have a soft spot for the sky blues as wifes family support them
You've sold it well, genuinely. You do realise we've been down to league 2 with 2 groundshares outside of our city?NUFC fan.....I come in peace

Come on this is SBT, you should know better...Considering part of ACLs mission and the lease terms are about developing the land around and it’s use as a conference centre and arena, there’s no way they can bulldoze it. God knows where this mental rumour has come from.
Must admit, I’d never thought of the second paragraph. But it doesn’t need to change much to have a training ground there.Rightly or wrongly the idea of having a stadium at Warwick Uni was the least crazy of the SISU plans.
We’ve talked about it on this forum: having the best of the student footballers, our players getting decent education for when they retire (some kind of course they could do outside of training), being able to get around the visa system and attract foreign players on a student card (yep - think about that angle) physio courses etc. I could go on and on.
I thought and still think it can be done in 8 years.
If the Uni was going to part fund then great.
However, at that time we were playing at StAn’s and being back in at the Ricoh / CBS looked dubious.
It’s all about money. Land for distribution has rocketed over the years. Just in time working practices, the cost of fuel / haulage meaning that location is everything. Just off the M6 bang in the centre of the U.K.?
I think it highly unlikely that the cost of building a stadium at Warwick Is Uni (£100m?) could be offset by the value of the CBS and Arena Land, but I must say this whole thing has been unpredictable.
If I were to learn that MA brought the land, the club, was moving to Warwick Uni and the CBS area was going to be a Fraser distribution and warehousing hub and the Council were chipping in £50m (they were giving the Wasps £30m?) to create 2000 jobs at Rowleys Green, well, it seems mad, but…..
He can if a dodgy Council CEO gave him the green light to (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
Given the running costs of the entire Arena, we may actually be better off with a long lease of the stadium bowl at reasonable cost with access to match day revenues, rather than the risk of not being able to sell all the exhibition / conference / concert “space” whilst still carrying the full overhead. Whilst there is the potential for profit that could be ploughed in to the team, there is a significant risk - it’s not as if ACL was particularly profitable.
