He's on trial with FC Kaiserslautern doubt we will be seeing him with us again, likely he will go back to Germany

Best place for him

Actually it is. KL were looking for promotion to the Bundesliga last season and should be up for it this season. They have tradition and a good fan base. My brother is ST holder there and he and his mates want him to play for KL.

Coventry City target Nick Proschwitz is training with Budesliga Two side Kaiserslautern.
But Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray remains hopeful of signing the 28-year-old striker who he insists is merely trying to get fit while he’s without a club.
And the manager believes fate may play a part in the target man’s decision after a chance meeting in Majorca.
“I took my wife away for her birthday the weekend before last and Nick, amazingly, was staying in the same hotel and sat by the pool,” he revealed. “I could have been anywhere in the world so if you believe in fate...
“It was great to see him and we had a good chat, without it being a lot about work.

“I think he enjoyed the last few weeks of season when he was playing. I’d like him to stay and I think he’d like to stay. Can we do the money, do a deal? We’ll have to wait and see.”
The deal is clearly still alive, with Mowbray revealing: “Nick sent me a text yesterday to let me know what he’s doing.
“He’s told me he’s training with Kaiserslautern to work on his fitness. He knows the manager well and he’s given him a platform to stay fit because he didn’t want to find himself in a situation joining a club a few days before the season starts and trying to catch up and people judging him when he’s not fit.”

Although fans have their doubts after being less than impressed by Proschwitz during his loan spell from Brentford when he scored a single goal in nine appearances, Mowbray has seen enough of his finishing quality on the training field to believe he can score goals in League One.
The only question remains as to whether the player is prepared to take the inevitable cut in wages after being used to significantly more at Hull, for whom he signed for £2.6million and, more recently, Championship Brentford.

trust in the manager.

he is looking to bring in 6-12 players in next month, if he really wants proschwitz back he must truly beleive in him.

i think he was unlcuky last season and will be happy if he comes back.

I agree. His all round play wasn't too bad. Certainly a job in this league which is a poor one. Missed a few but that come from not playing football in my opinion. Get a pre season and centre him a big unit 6ft 4 up front then build around him. He could be our Leon Clarke or top pope. Get him a pacey man who can run at defences then it's not that bad.

Backwards step, I thought he was weak and awful in front of goal. Tell you what lets sign up Tudguy because Tony can make him love football again, Tony can also get more than 20 games out of Johnson a season { first time in 6 years }, Tony can make Stokes a better player than the one rejected by Forest Green and now he's going to make Proschwitz a decent striker over the summer after failing in England from day one.

When was Stokes rejected by Forest Green? Got a source for that?

As for Proschwitz am willing to give him a chance. Would be worried if he didn't bring in another striker too though. Think he can do a job but don't expect him to be prolific.

There is a pattern developing here and I echo someone else's comments that Mr Mowbray is finding it more difficult than he anticipated bringing players in to SISU Cobblers FC after they reduced us to a laughing stock for several years. I feel for the bloke I really do !

That doesn't say he was rejected though. It's just as conceivable he had no desire to sign a new contract, because he had a tip at us.

Maybe, time is ticking now and all the cynics like me are beginning to wonder where the real progress on the pitch is coming from. Still some time to go but if we having nothing further in the bag by the end of next week than a few kids and a few of last years failures then it's time to be concerned ?

I thought it was said by Forest Green fans was the reason that Stokes left was because they couldn't afford his wages anymore?

Forest green let him come to us on loan as he wasnt getting in their team. why would they have done that if they wanted him to saty beyond this season and were intending on offering him a new contract ?

I am not debating if we should sign him or not, but its pretty clear that Forest Green dont want him

or can't afford him. A bit like us and Murphy the other year.

Murphy was playing in our team, stokes wasnt. He was an expensive reserve

He played 133 games for them including18 last season (part of which he was injured). 129 of those he started. Let's stop this nonsense about him bring a reserve or not being good enough at Forest Green.

Exactly so he didn't fit in with their budget. It doesn't mean we won't get value for money from him or he won't develop with us. Have you considered we might have offered him less than he was on at Forest Green? The lad has just got married and probably wants to stay at this level. We may have offered less but still been his best offer!

It seems an awful lot against Stokes is because of where he came from. Surely we've learned signing big names doesn't necessarily work.

OK, who knows... but he did alright for us on loan, and he'll be motivated to try and make a career so I can't really see the problem with him, tbh,

Well Ashdowm there's only one real solution isn't there, get shut of Mowbray before he makes a pigs ear of things. I get the feeling nothing short of Messi will be good enough for you and you are sitting and waiting for the first dud to come through the door.

No. How many times? Players won't be signed for a good few weeks yet. Contracts at clubs still have a week to run and even then players still hold out for better deals.

Expect signings in 2-3 weeks not next week. Even loan players won't be signed till August as mowbray says. Loan players don't become available till August.

Just be patient. Mowbray isn't a mug.

perhaps people should remind themselves where the likes of Stuart Pearce, Ian Wallace, Gary Gillespie and Tommy Hutchison came from? At the time lower level sides.

Yeah sorry, forgive me, I should be reaching for the stars with Joy at the prospect of us re signing players who nearly got us relegated from League 1 and scored 25 goals in 23 home matches. What's a dud anyway ?
There have been some real positives about the club this summer but it's on the pitch that we can only really succeed !

Coventry City are eyeing a loan move for Forest Green left-back Chris Stokes before the end of the season, according to the Stroud News & Journal.
The 23-year-old is understood to have been training with the Sky Blues during the last week and could now link up with his former Forest Green boss, City's new development coach, Dave Hockaday at the Ricoh Arena.
Yeovil Town were considering a permanent move for the defender during January and he was training with the Glovers after he had lost his place in the Forest Green side to Marcus Kelly.

And another thing to contemplate. Tony Mowbray is in the position with almost a clean slate, squad down to the bare bones. He has got rid of those he doesn't want, signing or attempting to sign those he does, added a few decent kids to the group, will secure some good quality loans and now hunting some icing on the cake. I believe he will sign players better than what we have, has carefully looked at the squad for a couple of months and knows exactly what he requires to make us compete at the top end of this division. Proshwichz is a better player than given credit for on here and i unclude myself as being too quick to critisise him, he will be relatively inexpensive, buying strikers is usually the biggest cost to any team build. We need one more imo. We also need a supply chain to back them up, width and pace and a tough guy in the middle of the park, get one and i think we will see a better Robert Fleck.

Yes, seems he was dropped but reading comments by FGR supporters was not on ability. Seems a case of new manager preferring his own players and FGR supporters certainly seems to think very highly of Stokes.

We have one in my opinion or one who deserves a chance. With a decent proper defence in front of him Leigh Burge. Whether TM thinks the same we will soon discover and he might bring an experienced, older goalie, i thought the Crewe game apart and lets be honest the whole team buckled that night, young Burge grew in confidence and improved and made some crucial saves too.

Robert Fleck is getting a little old now don't you think? ;)
