Reading the telegraph it was praising Jack finch and James Madison who yes i thought look cracking prospects but not a mention of Ryan Haynes who stood out to me a mile as our brightest prospect for the future - they always say football is about opinions
I don't seem to remember Maddison even touching the ball.
Finch did look a little lost, especially in the first half, but then he had zero support from his fellow centre backs.. and is still very young. Happier to see a centre back (or maybe he's better as a midfielder) attempting to keep the ball on the floor and trying to find his team mates than just lumping it forward and hoping for the best.
I would say Haynes was very good though. He looks like he could be a real gem for us in the future.

Yeah he's going to come out and say Finch was shite. Again, what did he do wrong?Jack’s only just turned 18 but in my opinion he’s got all the attributes to be a top player,” said the manager. “He gave a brilliant performance – way beyond his years. “It just depends where his best position is because we can use him in the centre of midfield – he’s got terrific ability to get around the pitch and handle the ball but also he’s a really good central defender.
“It will be interesting to see where we decide is his best position, where he develops.
“I’m really happy with his progress, but it’s his first game in the first team and the real challenge for all our young players is can they do it week in week out, season after season?”
Andy Webster, who played alongside Finch on Wednesday, has no doubts on that score, saying: “I thought JJ was outstanding – he wasn’t just good for a young player making his way into the first team, he was probably our best player on the night.
Really?
Pressley and Webster singing Finchs praises? Did they watch a different game???
Yes. One positive of these austere times is seeing our young players come through. Remember Robins signing the likes of that Arsenal midfielder instead of using what we had?Lawton was U18 captain and also plays CB and CM, Finch must be doing something right to get in ahead of him and Urquhart.
Would like to see Maddison, Phillips and Haynes all get time this season. More excited by them than most of our signings.

The problem is that fans moan about it. Look at Finch. Looked shaky at times early on but certainly not 'out of his depth'. Yet people on here are exaggerating about how poor he was.
It reminds me of when Turner came through. He turned out alright.

Didn't Maddison lay the ball out to Haynes when he set the goal up?
I'm not getting on Finchs' back. he's 18 but to say he was excellent and Webster saying he was the best player on the park is simply ridiculous.
I just hope none of our kids read this forum.
