So a senior member of the trust enjoyed himself more watching a team ripped from its natural home more than the team he represents as board member on the main fans supporters group.
A seriously gobsmacking statement.
You should start your own supporters trust. With your skill set you'll have a million members in a week, be head of the SCG and have SISU eating out the palm of your hand. With SISU under your guidence I recon we'll be back in the premier league within 3 seasons and in our own purpose built stadium with average crowds of 100 gazillion.
You don't think CCFC playing in Nuneaton will impact on Nuneaton Town?
That's the whole point. With franchising the distance is immaterial. Its the damage it does to the club already in the area that is one of the main concerns.
Why should Nuneaton Town suffer because Sisu wrecked our club?
So you think sisu would be moving 3 miles away to try and get more fans?
If we all take jans view it should be "who cares" shouldn't it?
The distance is not immaterial that's a ridiculous statement. Wasps moving 100 miles from their home several impacts the ability on a large section of their supporters being able to attend, moving a couple of miles down the road does not. There's several football clubs that play slightly outside the boundary of the place they take their name from, it's totally different to moving to the other end of the country.
As i've said before I think the impact on Nuneaton Town would be minimal. In my opinion anyone who wanted to support a team at a higher level would already be supporting us (not that we're at a very high level these day!), not like it's 100 miles away. However saying that if you look at the posts I have made on the subject I believe that should an application be made to build a stadium in Nuneaton be made any objections from Nuneaton Town or their fans should be given fair consideration. My preference would be a stadium within the city boundary but the consensus on here appears to be that is impossible due to a lack of suitable site so should we just give up and liquidate the club?
If it was moved to bermuda I think it would still be closer to the ricoh then it would ntfc (think). You just said no other option yourself. No I think Sisu would be moving us 3 miles away because their incompetence has resulted in no other option for them. If they are to be believed they need an asset to sell. They wont give a shit whether the asset is good for the long term potential support of the club.
The view will be that as CCFC fans we would be more concerned about the impacts of moving on CCFC rather than NTFC. Does that make a CCFC fan a hypocrite?
Is a CRFC fan unhappy with Wasps a hypocrite when their own club nearly removed Bedford from their home?
But we're talking about the moral argument here aren't we? That being the case distance is immaterial. Something is either wrong or it isn't.
It cant be less wrong to franchise to one place over another. At what distance does franchising become wrong?

How is it franchising building a stadium of the closest viable site to the city? Franchising would be if we moved to Manchester or something similar, nobody is suggesting SISU are about to do that. Are Grimsby a franchise, how about Man Utd or Brighton?
No I don't. You can get the 48 bus from nuneaton town centre to Longford road, takes 15 minutes. We already have nuneaton based cov fans, we already have bedworth based cov fans. If CCFC built a ground at say burmuda I dare say it would have very little/no impact on nuneaton town fc.
I am not saying that I agree with it btw.

The closest viable site is the Ricoh, unless that is proved otherwise. Nuneaton is a different town with its own team. Yes it is part of the Coventry sphere of influence, but it isn't Coventry.
Brighton play in Brighton.
As for the other two, Coventry is a proud and ancient city. If CCFC wish to retain the title of the cities main sporting club then it needs to play in the city. What happens in other towns is of little interest to me regarding what is right for our city.

If we did move down the road, as said before I'd expect consultation with both bedworth and Nuneaton football clubs. However, my personal thoughts don't see ccfc gaining more fans from those areas or clubs. It is not much difference distance wise, if the people of Nuneaton wanted league one football they should already be here. 3 miles closer won't be a massive seller.
I said no other option for Sisu (if they are to be believed).
CCFC is better staying in a rented stadium (at a sensible rate) in our home city.
So do you agree then that Wasps playing in Coventry will not affect CRFC?

I though brighton play in Village on the outskirts of brighton called Falmer? Grimsby play in cleethorpe, nottingham forest play in west Bridgford, Manchester United play in Salford..,,

Again this begs the question, if the Trust believe this. Why are Steve and Jan coming on here saying how Wasps had no other option etc etc? They couldn't survive? Why can we survive but they can't?
No I don't agree. It's completely different. It's a brand new side parachuted in 90 miles that has no connection to the city, and will affect both CRFC and CCFC. They are here to build a new fan base from scratch, they will hope to steal fans from both CCFC and CRFC.
CCFC moving 3 miles will not impact on nuneaton, we're both established sides in the community, nuneaton people won't just start going because it's in nuneaton, as its 15 min bus ride £1.50 return I believe from nuneaton town centre on matchdays, if they want to watch league football they would already be popping to the ricoh.
You're comparing apples with oranges.

So why do wasps need 365 day per year income but we're ok with a simple rental deal?

So at what distance does it become comparable?
I think even if we moved to Hinckley it would be the same (as Wasps). 3 miles down the road (on the same road) isn't too much different.
I wouldn't go to Hinckley if we moved there full time.
I'm sure that the Trust supporting a rugby franchise being moved 100 miles to Coventry, then they will have no problem encouraging fans to travel an extra 3 miles if a stadium is built in Nuneaton.
Who is actually sad and selfish when the trust go against everything they claim to represent and attend a franchised rugby match in a stadium that they fought so hard to bring us back to

I never said we were ok, I said it was the better option.
What 365 day per year income do you think a 12k capacity stadium, within driving distance of the Ricoh and NEC, will generate?
With the greatest of respect to Nuneaton, can you envisage the Kings of Leon including Nuneaton on their world tour?

I don't know. We do know that all clubs get some form of 365 year income, conferencing, meetings, weddings, advertising, naming rights, renting out to PL u21 side, etc. Until we see a business plan we don't know what the viability is. We do know that staying at the ricoh on a matchday only little/no revenue deal is just more of the same.
and how said it would be a 12k stadium?

So its a matter of distance then not princaple.

and how said it would be a 12k stadium? I need to see a lot more information before I can commit 1 way or another. All I do know is that it was depressing seeing the wasps signage at the Ricoh, and that our badges were hardly noticeable inside the stadia. It sounds as though the concourse and seating will have a face lift in the summer so that feeling of being in someone else stadium is only going to get worse.

You don't seem to have a problem with wasps so neither distance or principle should matter to you.
