I like Matondo, think he's a good player from when I've seen his highlights.

Do not understand this signing. We had 3 wingers on the bench last night and another 2 injured , where is he suppose to fit?

Raphael isn’t up to it (yet)

Tavares isn’t a winger and isn’t good enough

Don’t get this one, probably quite expensive loan that doesn’t really improve us. Happy to be proven wrong.

Ashley Cain was an unbelievable athlete when I used to run with him back in the day. Never seen anyone like him, he was a machine even when he was like 14. Was so impressive to watch him in the 100m sprints.
Won pretty much every race bar one. Was a long time ago but I think when he was 14/15 he was running 100m in 10.8 seconds

I don't have a story about how much of a physical specimen he was, but in playgroup Jordan Clarke was Batman, and I was Robin

I’ve whipped up a very quick and inaccurate 11…

1. Jim Blyth
2. Paul Telfer(?)
3. ???
4. Gary Macallister
5. Gary Gillespie
6. Steven Pressley ()
7. Kevin Gallacher
8. David Speedie
9. Willy Carr
10. Sandy Robertson
11. Dougie McGuire

I got bored/ran out of steam. Please do a proper job!

If true it sounds like a try before you buy. It has certainly worked in the recent past.

If it’s loan to buy I doubt there’s a huge fee attached. And that’s worked well for us before. If he’s crap then we don’t need to buy, if Lampard can get a tune then we’ve got a versatile forward in an area we’re short.

We need someone versatile who can play AML/R/C and he seems to have a reasonable pedigree. I’m OK with this as a stop gap until the end of the season if it is Matondo. Maybe he just hates Scotland?

Was rumoured to be a 2 million option to buy (in the football insider).

There was definitely a match in the late 1960's when our entire forward line (7 to 11) was Scottish. Carr, Gibson, Martin, O'Rourke and Hannigan? Possibly Quinton Young instead of one of those?

If he does sign does that mean BTA is likely to be off (despite the recent goals)?

We'll presumably switch back to 4-2-3-1 when EMC and Wright are back, and we don't need four strikers competing for one spot.

Only to buy. Maybe this is how Lampard has got around Doug, just promise they’re all signings really.

(this is a joke before it trigger Nick again)

Have to queston the quality of a player who can't get in *this* Rangers side and when he has hasn't performed consistently against lower league one/higher league two standard opponents. Seems like the vast majority of Rangers fans think he's awful as well (from social media at least). Still young, blessed with pace but whenever I've watched looks limited technically. Easy for a Manchester City grad to keep getting moves and being given chances purely on reputation as well. If we weren't stacked outwide (113/148 games either LW or RW) I'd be more inclined to give benefit of the doubt.

Well Robins said the club’s strategy was to reduce the number of loans. The fact it’s the 22nd January and we still don’t have one suggests that wasn’t a lie

He's had an interesting career. Schalke bought him for £11m not too long ago. Would've thought that would've been heavily add-on based but still.

For those of a certain generation, my go to when thinking about players that could run really fast and do nothing else, it is always Ruel Fox. Bit harsh in hindsight but it's stuck now.

They loved him about 12 months when he was playing well.

As has been said ignore the views of ex teams fans, Swansea fans laughed when we brought Vik

Have to say I find it odd that we’re choosing to bolster our forward depth before our defensive depth, in service of a 4ATB formation that we have yet to figure out a defensive combination for.

Has to have Wallace & Stein up front.

And Hutch.

Looking at that we’d have a very impressive Scottish 11!!

Yeh utterly pointless to go off other fans as those who shout the loudest tend to be the most clueless. I'd much rather judge him off the opinions of people on here 15 minutes into his debut.

Remove their input, still a highly dubious signing. Unless any new signing = clean slate and thus potentially good. The Vik we signed wasn't the Vik that left.

And why can't we do the same for this player?

Your argument falls at the first hurdle.

I dont think King ever said we don't go for loans. He said they have to be right for both us and the parent club with the latter being the issue in the past (Ayari for example)

Matondo

Yesterday he was taking his man on and beating him almost every time. St johnstone could not live with his pace. He created the first with a very decent bit of a footwork and played a decent pass in behind Hampden is a wide pitch and as long as Cortes is out and simas still down in Brighton...
