Technically it was the Data Protection Act 2018 that introduced the provisions of the GDPR, which pre-dates the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.

We are a transparent club. Doug King said so. Loved that Andy Turner said King hadn't spoken to him in 2 years and today wrote King snapped at him when he asked about a Director of Football. No love lost there then.

If it was really true he wouldn't be playing. Really, a midfield of Torp, Rudoni, Eccles can do a job. Probably even perform better.

It is derived from an EU law pre Brexit, as per all EU regulations they are transposed into domestic law with non material changes in each member state. Post Brexit they had to invent the concept of the UK GDPR as part of the withdrawal act.
“the UK GDPR” means Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27th April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data (General Data Protection Regulation) as it forms part of the law of England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland by virtue of section 3 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.

It really has nothing to do with "hard Brexiteers", there were something like 4800 laws we needed to incorporate into UK law as part of Brexit. Most modern countries will have their own versions of Information Law. The Data Protection Act in the UK predates GDPR by a considerable margin. 1987! It's history also traces back to EU Convention on Human Rights some 70 odd years ago....
Arguably DPDI might have relaxed certain areas to facilitate business in the UK, but that was nuked when Labour won last election. Labour government will now be working on their own version of this.

It doesn’t stop spam really and companies spend millions and annoy the shit out of the average customer for not much reason tbh. Mostly though it’s the fact that like health and safety and entire industry of overly cautious advisors have popped up to say if your till worker recognises a customer they’ve got to scour their eyes out with a Brillo pad or something.
