In theory but he did fuck all when he came on. Didn't even trouble their defenders for headers

He was feeding off scraps. There was on ball for him to run onto that was an intelligent run and that was it. He offered more than Bassette still.

BTA and Bassette are good at being busy bodies. They look like they’re doing lots with their pressing and chasing down lost causes that you can see they’re not gonna get. They were chasing shadows today and I understood the logic of starting one of them today, but not both.

Simms is just far more efficient in his movement. Frankly, he’s the best striker we’ve got who’s available atm. Just play him for 10 games in a row and if he gets 1 goal or something, then drop him.

In fact, just pick one of the striker and play them consistently for a period because it doesn’t do Simms or BTA any good starting one game, then relegated to the bench for 2-3 games with only 20-30m cameos before then starting, rinse and repeat.

It feels like that Neil Warnock quote about Taarabt where he says ‘I’m going to play you even if you play shit’ for a while.

Overall really frustrating...

For an away game at a ground where we always struggle, there were a few positives we hadn't really seen under Lampard before. Plenty of endeavour & a clear plan to press & counter attack. The actual system despite initial eyebrows was ok too given the injuries we have but the choice of personnel to fit didn't make any sense.

BTA & Bassette together up top yet we need the ball to stick. Should have been BTA & Simms.

Allen in the deep midfield... Thought he had a good game actually, probably running on adrenaline but that's not a solution in the future. We know he's not a ball winner or particularly good at progressing the ball. His strengths are off the ball, usually in the 10, breaking into the box etc. Having him in that role rather than Eccles or Torp is just crazy. Also, barely played in months & thrown into a full 90... No wonder he nearly gave a goal away.

I actually think Lampard was brave keeping 2 up top & deserves credit for that, it nearly paid off for BTA. However once it descended into us just making blocks, tackles & clearing lines etc. it was probably naïve not to get Torp into the midfield.

BTA has 1 goal in 24 league games at a rate of a goal every 926 minutes
Bassette has 2 goals in 16 league games at a goal every 391 minutes.

Neither should be anywhere near the first 11.

Add to that Simms has 2 in 22 league games at a rate of 483 minutes

None of them are scoring or contributing to the standard you would expect of a competent championship level striker.

As for BTA contributed more on the ball than Bassette today, BTA had the same amount of touches (22) as Bassette despite playing 20 more minutes. Bassette was also involved in the build up of the goal.

Yes basically other than Wright the forwards are shite

Hugely frustrating. But before the game people were predicting a 3 -0 loss.

If that 1st goal doesn't go in, we get a great away win and people start talking about a great away win, despite key players missing and building momentum off the back of an non-inspiring Xmas period but one where we seemed to sort defensive frailties and started to build points.

Fine margins and all that. But still feeling rubbish about it!

Simms is rubbish. All the attributes but limited ability and even less desire

I would genuinely take the money for MVE and Sheaf if the offers are there and start the rebuild … only time will tell if it’s a good deal for them or for us, but I’d rather we “go again”. Not selling Simms to Bournemouth now looks like a stupid move.

The next 18 months are evidently a write off.

Yep those 19 goals he got last season were all off his arse the lucky sod.

give Simms and Wright the service and they are both capable of getting 15 plus a season But how many chances has Simms been given and a striker thrives on confidence not being on the bench every week.

what the wank fest is amongst some on here over Bassett I dont know. He is offside more times than Huckerby, runs around lot without any end product and has scored twice despite being given starts in almost every game since Lampard has arrived.

Whats Kenny Jacket up to these days ?

Always remind me to steer clear of this forum after a defeat. Losing in extra time hurts all of us. But the mentality of some of the usuals on here after any loss is completely off the charts in terms of outrage and very personal criticism - for example, stating that multiple players should be immediately sacked off, team is automatically going down, I hate the players, worst player ever etc. Again totally disappointed at the result but the very personal criticism on here is equally disappointing and certainly not helpful to anyone.

Do you expect players to laugh around with the opposition after losing like that?

Seriously stop looking for drama and outrage. I care about the defeat. I don’t care if Josh Eccles takes a few minutes to connect with a friend/ex colleague. Do I think Eccles is 100% committed to performing for is - yes I do. That’s all I care about - fuck anything else and sensationalism about the most pointless things.

When EMC and Wright return, I think we'll be ok and stay clear of a relegation battle.

Dovin
MVE, Thomas, Kitching, Bidwell
Sheaf, Torp, Rudoni
Wright, Simms, EMC

I know our two best players have been on the left this season but now that EMC has settled in and found a bit of form. He is more suited to the right than Wright.

Play that team til it breaks, they can play two games a week.

Saka & Bassett are great impact subs.

We conceded almost double the amount of shots today against these than the year we lost 3-0 when godden and vik had a so called tiff

And the manager thinks we were good , fantastic

Answer the following question. Do you believe Josh Eccles is 100% committed on the pitch for us?
His performances have tanked recently but I still believe he is committed yes. The optics of laughing with the opposition after losing like that however are very bad.

More so from Lati who gifted them the points at the end and then found it hilarious.

Whats the obsession with shots on target?

It was 2-1 to them.

Same with losing against Derby and Swansea at home "yeah but we had shots on target so it is better than drawing with Millwall because we didn't".

Weird flex.

Yeah it means your subtly trying to give it a mark robins wankathon again because of how many shots on target a team had when they beat us 3-0 as opposed to when they beat us 2-1.

I can't remember Wright ever playing well on the right let alone scoring, virtually all his goals have come from playing off the left.

Have a read of my comments about him today....

It isn't black or white, you want to die on the Robins hill it's fine. "Yeah but they had more shots on target today"

Every.Fucking.Time there are about 3 or 4 of you who want to make everything about him.

Yeah, the weird flex was the weird brag about us losing 3-0 but them having less shots on target.
