Gutted hes gone but sadly this is the nature of football management.

What he’s done, and all his achievements are long forgotten by owners fuelled by a glut of new fans with expectancy, and blinded by the lure of premiership millions.

The games truly fucked if someone who has achieved so much for the club and put it on the sound footing it has, has the rug pulled from under his feet by a new owner who changes the whole football structure of the club which has ultimately led us to the shit show we currently have on the pitch, and now off it.

Let's not forget when he left us to go to Huddersfield.

He hasn't been volunteering with us and will be getting his contract paid up. Wasn't there about 3 years left?
Agreed, but he seems a genuine bloke, and I would imagine this would have hurt a lot.

The reaction on the Facebook and Instagram official pages has also been similar outrage

One of my mates is fuming and ranting about Doug King, he was all over the "Wake up this morning" song a few weeks back.

King's aim is 100% working towards getting promoted within the next few seasons; we're a long way from that at the moment, so it's not a surprise. Personally, I have little faith in King finding the right replacement though.

He’s doing a great job. Took a team on a seven year uninterrupted improvement streak and turned them into whatever the hell this is.

He’ll be gone by next season I reckon. Won’t be a fan when it’s not all Wembley appearances and people singing your song.

Blow dried twat.

Had to work last night, so didn't get to the game, so was chatting to my mate about it this morning on the phone.

He said that he thought he'd be gone after the International break, I said " nah, got til Christmas at least"

Off the phone 2 minutes, text from him saying " He's gone!".

Know it's been poor mostly this season, most of last as well to be honest, apart from from big purple patch in the middle and the cup run.

Think he had more than enough credit in the bank though to see him through a little longer.

This is devastating and so premature.

Underlying data suggests we are a decent team but not had any luck. Didn't give him the time he deserved to turn it around properly. Very strange timing considering yesterday was a freak result after wins.

I forsee new manager comes in, team picks up for a bit and finishes top ten. Optimism in the summer and then we start badly. New manager sacked. Cycle continues like the old championship times.
Yep, stability has been a weapon for us, compared to the chaos at clubs like Watford.

My gut feeling is it’s a mistake. Time will obviously be what tells and for King, now there’s nowhere to hide. If this goes tits up, it’s totally on your watch.

Let’s be honest…We all knew this was going to happen!?

Whether it’s the players, MR, Dennis/Adi leaving, the new coaching set up, Dr Claire’s involvement the football we have been served up the back end of last season and the start of this hasn’t been good enough when you considered how much money has been spent.

Premier league package, the 5 year push for promotion etc has set the expectation, if that expectation isn’t met and things start taking a backward approach ultimately this is what happens.

MR will forever go down as a club legend, he took us from the abyss to one kick away from the premier league but you cannot argue we’ve looked lost for sometime and maybe a change is what is needed.

I understand the players weren't in training and found out by the social media posts
If that's true it shows King's lack of heart and compassion. Corporate cock fucking the little man as per

Don't think King was ever going to be here very long anyway and was hoping for a quick promotion and sell on.
Where have we experienced that before...

For the record: This feels like a huge mistake, especially as the remaining staff give me very little confidence. And that lack of confidence extends to the owner, who we now have to trust to make a pivotal decision on a replacement.

If he fucksitup, this isn’t as fixable as the backtracks he’s previously made after unpopular decisions.

That away end on Saturday is going to be toxic. Were staying in Newcastle for the weekend, I’m not going to bother leaving the pub now

I’d be interested to see statistic on how teams tend to do after a long term manager leaves.
There’s two major red flags for me:

1) It’s DK’s first time hiring a new manager

I worry he’ll give it to a ‘chancer’ and there’s a risk we get sucked into genuine relegation dogfight

2) The new manager is replacing our most successful manager since Jimmy Hill

The next manager is replacing a modern day legend of the club. It rarely works out and this is our equivalent of replacing Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger.

Fucksake, I feel like we are genuinely jinxed as a club. Just when it looked like we were getting back on track and on the up for whatever reasons we take 3 steps back.

Silly reply. If she was a bloke you wouldn’t have bothered. If you out someone in on a seniority level equivalent to the manager then they should take as much blame as the manager. Especially when the major failing has been the literal area you’re responsible for.

Mate, don't make it sexist - that's even sillier that your first comment.

Why single her out to 'put her money where her mouth is' and not Doug?

Things obviously aren't great at the minute but there's many reasons why we are where we are. Singling one person out is nonsense.

I personally think the reason this season hasn't gone to plan is because the club changed the firm who organises their away hotel accommodation but that's just me.
