gutted, but at the end of the day, we don't know whether it is the right or wrong thing to do yet...

Doug has to get the next appointment right, its early days, but who on that list does a better job than Robins?!

Getting no backing sounds a bit mad.

Policy of going with AV's old pals was hardly working. He's been given a lot of good players. I'm not having it that DK (apparently) refusing Matty James gives MR a 'he didn't support me!' card to play here.

Well il say it now because I dont give 2 fucks about Doug c**t, but I saw texts directly from Matty James stating and I quote

'Yea im keen to come back, positive chat with the gaffer but he doesn't think he'll get it past the owner'

Il try and find the screenshot now tbh because im past caring

It's such bollocks. We've been here before with Terry Butcher/Peter Reid etc. etc. etc...

We'll end up expensively cycling through a list of managers and their chosen staff and players, none of whom will quite make the grade, and get fired after a season or two. And we'll be exactly no better off.

Robins deserved better than this.

The instigator of that set up who is apparently quite opinionated has been in place for *checks notes* 18 months though 🤔
Yes that’s true. So we’re back to getting rid of everyone and hoping we’ll progress forever with a L2 coaching setup? Once again MR is ok record saying new structure was needed. Of course we could assume he was lying but then we’re cherry picking data to support a conclusion.

We also lost Vik, Hamer and COH in that time. Not sure any owner could have prevented that.

I haven't read all the previous stuff so apologies if this has been said but anyway....

I'm assuming those who sacked Robins think that we, Coventry City , are punching below our weight. We've had a poor start but given where Robins has taken us and all the shite he has had to put up with I think he of all people can be forgiven for one indifferent season even though it's still fairly early on .

It begs the question as to where our owner thinks we should be as a club. Ultimately of course we all want to be in the premier league but I'd like to enjoy the journey , quite frankly . When we get there well be there for the likes of the big 5 , nothing else.

I'm shocked by this. The managerial merry go round begins now and it'll become a revolving door just like most other clubs.

I hope Robins has success wherever he goes. He saved this club from oblivion in a way unmatched by any other manager in our history and I will always remember that until my dying day.

So you are 100% sure the texts are from MJ? You have his number yeah?

I don't really know what to think about it all. For me Robins strengths are his man management and player development, culminating in small, successful, over-performing squads. Whereas in game tactics and speed to react to things unfolding on the pitch has always been something of a weakness.

This season felt to me that with the new structure, and all the extra coaches and players, that he had much less daily interaction at an individual level, which neutered his strengths and in turn exposed his weaknesses even more on a matchday. Now maybe I've wildly misread the situation but, if not, something was going to have to give.

Jesus Christ this week has been shit.

Well done all you negative pricks, Robins has dragged this club back from the brink and a few disappointing results and he's suddenly shit. ridiculous decision

There are other factors at play though with the end of last season though .

We aren't the same team with the same coaching structure now either
I agree with you.

Let’s be honest, if we had a manager that didn’t have the ‘credit in the bank’, the knives would’ve out sooner.

Looking at the ‘Robins in or out’ polls a lot of people defending Robins (including myself) was based on loyalty and performances ‘not being that bad’. I’ve accepted that Robins was one of the only managers I’d have stuck with in the circumstances. Most managers would’ve been sacked a few games ago.

All hyperbole and mourning aside: management isn’t a solved science. We had something that works, like a cat or a romantic relationship there’s no sense in trying to rationalise that by taking it apart for analysis, you’ll just kill it. Appreciate it while it’s in your life.

It’s so rare to find what we had with Robins that you let it run its course and let him guide you. When it’s over sure go with your best guess on what should happen, but to override someone as special as Robins means you have to get it right a lot more often than Douglass does.

It's pointless talking about his credit because he gave us so much success and with success comes loyalty and fans start to care about you .

It's not a normal situation and he deserved far more than a couple of paragraphs after a home defeat to derby 14 games in

Don’t agree with the sacking if it’s purely based on recent results.

Huge shoes to fill for the next manager, not an easy task at all, and gives me an uneasy feeling about this season. I was confident MR would be given time to turn this around/get the players back up to standards. The last couple of seasons we were worried a Prem team would come calling for him, now we’ve binned him off.
