Not rightly so , the start of this season scews it , he's done enough here to be given the time to turn it around , God help the next manager with a couple of bad games if you sadistic fucks want robins out after 7 good years

He's had time to turn it around, more than other managers would get that's for sure.

Without FA Cup SF the season wouldn't have been good enough and this season's it's been poor. He built it up alongside the club to aim for top six and promotion this season and we aren't close.

Whether you like it or not it's the right call, Since the FA Cup SF we've won four league games. It's not good enough for the squad here, it was time.

I'm also not sadistic, I'm a realist.

Thankfully after seeing the backlash all over social media , the robins out brigade were genuinley a minority and most of our support isn't morally bankrupt
I've been on my WhatsApp group with my Cov mates today . Even the few who were murmuring about Robins future on it over the past few weeks are genuinely gutted by this news .
As I would hope every Coventry fan would be today

Looking at league stats since start of 2024

Played 39

Won 13
Drew 6
Lost 16

45 points from a possible 105

8 of those wins came before April. That run of games (as well as at the end of 2023) and cup run has hidden reasonably poor form over the last year.
I’d look specifically at the last 11 home games - 8 defeats in that time.

away performances aside, we make our money on the ticket sales which are top priced.

Season tickets gonna be a hard sell if we keep losing at home

Being gutted and it not being unexpected are two different things, clearly some Cov fans can't understand that.

Yeah great come back, completely pointless in fact.

Minority or not he's gone, time to move past it.

"Without" a lot of things there. Fact is it happened and therefore the ability was proven to be there from both the players and manager.

I do think more has gone on behind the scenes than just ‘results aren’t good enough so you’ve been sacked’ based on the murmurings and what can be gleaned from the official statements. I’m surprised none of the players seem to have said anything yet given the news has been out for 4 or so hours.

It did happen and it got him some more time, but that was never going to last forever.

Watfordesque? He'd been there 7 years not 7 months.
Thanks for that stat, 7 years indeed and 7 years not bettered in my 49 years following the Sky Blues, but hey let’s pull the plug after 14 league games eh, very Watfordesque! He deserved better than that, we’re all entitled to our opinions, I think it’s a shit one.

Really saddening to see him go, especially in this manner. He's done so much for the club and put us back on the footballing map. Can't say it hasn't been coming though based on the poor run of form since March.

Fingers crossed the next manager is the right appointment and regardless of who it is the whole club, fans, staff and players need to be 100% behind him.

You really are an idiot
Holding up Jamie Allen alongside Hamer and Gyokeres is nonsense. People forget the likes of Jobello, Kastaneer, Hilssner, Waghorn, Ogogo etc.

Our current recruitment team has made some very good signings, Wright, MVE, Sakamoto.

Comparing the two recruitment teams is silly, they have completely different resources and completely different targets. Plus the players recruited under the current team have been here less than a season and a half at max.

Well it's true isn't it ya fluff .. we finished 9th and reached an fa cup semi final , it was a good season.

Fact

Saying if we didn't do this and that it would have been shit is a brain dead argument because we did it

So what about this season then "ya fluff" still a good season, is that a fact as well?

not March ffs

April 6th we fell off in the league but we're still in the cup with a small knackered squad

Maybe Robins wanted to leave and getting sacked got him a payout
That's a possibility. Mutual consent means no payout. But it goes to show that Doug really must've meant it to pay off a 3 year contract

No it's not is it but I'm not advocating sacking one of our greatest managers after a slow 14 game start to the season 7 points off the playoffs .

I think it's a terrible decision and he deserves more time

You are seemingly happy with it which begs the question how long you will give a manager that's new

Matty James was just the player we needed last night

Not playing Torp in midfield and playing Sakamoto in the number 10 position is what cost us last night and that's down to the manager Mark Robbins, sad to say.

Thanks for the memories Mark all the best for the future.

Still, 3rd season in a row we've started poorly and I get the impression he's not suited to a modern coaching setup. People on here implying Doug's been digging Robins grave.

I'd say 99% of Cov fans are gutted and the majority of fans from other clubs are surprised.

There's still the odd one or two, inc some on here, who see this as a good thing.

As an aside, just seen Tom Grennan has replied to the CCFC insta post of the sacking calling it a shambles.

Allen has done more for the club than MVE and Sakamoto

So what’s the excuse for the start of this season?

let me guess, coaches, iPads, yada yada, Doug king
We've had a poor start , the team is lacking leadership and a bit of balance which wasn't addressed in the transfer marker , we missed out on a couple of midfielders and didn't address it .

We have a window in January and plenty of matches ro turn it around ..

The same recruitment guy will be bringing in the players In January regardless

Fully agree. King appears to be compling what he thinks a football club should look like. But he is forgetting, or doesn't know, the intricacies of what it means to the wider circle outside of the boardroom.
There is a First World War General about I know whom quite a lot (sad, I know) called William Robertson, who coined the phrase 'War is a one man show'. Football is the same and Robins was our 'one man'. I think SISU had come to understand that, now we have to have King working his way up the learning curve to reach the same conclusion
