Westwood left on a free (not sold - he left of his own accord - he should have been sold before then imo)
King left on a free (he wanted to go to Birmingham and reneged on a new deal)
Gunnarsson left on a free (he wanted to go to Cardiff and his contract was up)
I'm still waiting for evidence of the great sell off. I personally find it more galling that so many players were allowed to run down their contracts before leaving.[/QUOTE]
Apart from Bell of course. Yeh, they know what they're doin these SISU business people.
Dropped bloody lucky with McGoldrick IMO
oh come on sbk, turner wasn't worth £3m. I do agree sisu banked on premier league promotion and got it badly wrongWestwood wanted a extention to his contract but Boothroyd and SISU had no intentions of doing so. Turner was massively undersold(Worth at least £2.5-£3m) The only image SISU had was to cut the wage bill, and nothing more. They thought it was a "Given" for promotion to the Premier league and the land of "Milk and Honey" How wrong were they?
so do you think the right thing to do was to let the contracts run down, these players were always going to go on to bigger and better things, especially WestwoodAs Astute rightly pointed out Jukebox sold for £1.3m....Leon Clarke cost...Remind me Fernando, how much?....@covmark If we had sold them all before their contracts ran down, I estimate we would be playing "Blue Square League" if not lower by now!

@Grenduffy....Ranson didn't want to sell players as well you know. Igwe however having the veto and final word did want to sell players.(Look back on transcripts by Ranson and Hoffman) So don't try twisting my words Mr "Estimated"
totally disagree, what sisu wanted was a promotion to the premier league and then sell on for a quick (and decent) profitI said exactly the same thing in a post just before you, however, In my opinion Sisu would never have wanted a quick return to the PL whilst they only rented the ground, they needed to own the ground before that happened.
agreed, and this is partly why I don't understand why these three amigos are still lauded on this forum.Selling players is how Ranson makes his money, and has done for the last 17 years.
Probably why he wanted to close the Academy(with Hoffman and Elliott), as growing your own players takes too long for short-termists like him to make a profit from buying and selling players.
Have a little read Grenduffy.....................http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...f-investment-by-the-owners-article716670.html

Ok, why didn't they buy out higgs when they were the knights in shining armour, almost everyone lauded them, this was the single biggest mistake they ever made. No chance nowSo you think they wanted to make a quick few million by selling us a PL club with no assets? It has always been about owning the Ricoh, CCFC was always the pawn in what has turned out to be a very sad game.

Ray Ranson said:It isn’t our priority – the success of the team is. The funds should be spent on the team. It is about getting the product right on the pitch.
Quite right, you've attempted sanity questioning to dispel an argument a la grendel ferret, think it's you that needs help. Evidently, SISU appointed Robins, a young man with a growing reputation for being quite highly strung having departed a previous club when he was denied the required resource. Last season, we had on loan a player who hit 19 goals in half a season and yet SISU still wouldn't front the money to secure his services. Couple that with sacking the ground staff making the pitch unplayable and I think the argument for SISU blatantly derailing promotion squares up. Alternately, if they were so short sighted to not to secure Mcgoldricks services, then it demonstrates breathtaking incompetence on their part. The only thing that beggars belief is your take on this! If Fisher hadn't "Sold everything that wasn't nailed down" We wouldn't imho have been relegated. Conspiracy theories to one side, investment in playing staff would have kept us up....And don't come back with that shit about "Players brought in"...How many of them are still at CCFC???
Mcgoldrick was a championship player in a league 1 team, he got a better offer from a championship team, end of story. Or do you think we could match Ipswich in terms of wages and league stature, if so you are deluded my friendQuite right, you've attempted sanity questioning to dispel an argument a la grendel ferret, think it's you that needs help. Lying, Conniving or incompetent, in any case SISU OUT.
He was never offered a contract. By then, if SISU had any intention of making a success out of the all important footballing side of the business, they would know that off loading/failing to secure goalscoring players equals failure (Juke & King sold/off loaded in previous seasons). Lower league status = reduced attendances = reduced revenue. This, to SISU's mind gave them justification for withholding rent and ultimately moving the club to Northampton as part of their bankrupt ACL masterplan.Mcgoldrick was a championship player in a league 1 team, he got a better offer from a championship team, end of story. We got King for sod all. Juke was purchased using a fraction of the funds obtained from the sale of other players. By the way, how many players have been bought and sold for 'undisclosed fees' during SISU's tenure? The only reason Juke and King and McGoldrick were here at all was because SISU sanctioned them.
The club has over-extended itself for years, first under Richardson, later Robinson, and then the early years of SISU. It's this that causes the problems, not investing in the infrastructure of the club.
If there's nothing there, how can we possibly expect to keep players? As it is, we replaced McGoldrick with Clarke, so it wasn't like we just left as-is (which tbh given the financial state of the club, we maybe should have done)
the majority of all transfer fees are undisclosed, pointless argumentWe got King for sod all. Juke was purchased using a fraction of the funds obtained from the sale of other players. By the way, how many players have been bought and sold for 'undisclosed fees' during SISU's tenure?
summerisle...............Can you put up a link where it says Ranson wanted to close academy..thanks.
...erm, with SISU controlled CCFC yes, not with other clubs...the majority of all transfer fees are undisclosed, pointless argument
