Only two people to blame (5 Viewers)

Surely it's as simple as if TM and MV knew the budget that they were working with at the end of last season for the summer ahead then they have clearly failed in their recruitment. It's all fine saying TM was just showing ambition by going after Championship level players, but if our budget clearly wasn't big enough to attract the players he was interested in (and he knew the budget he had to work with) then the blame is at his door, unfortunately.

Instead of working to the budget that he had and getting players in the door who we could afford (and then being able to work with them in pre season), we ended up scrabbling around for players after the season had started. This is by no means a pro SISU post, but I can't help but feel that we had a dreadful transfer window and that has left us in the mess we're in now.

So with supposed money in the budget what is MV doing to put it right ? Or we OK to wait until Jan 2017
It's just another layer to the mess TM caused this summer - by assembling the core first team in mid to late August and doing deals on deadline day, there was nothing but the dregs left in the free transfer market. I can see no activity now til Jan, then all the loans will need replacing and the best we can hope for is possibly one or two permanent deals in the mould of the Stokes deal.

Nick we're you not one of the moaners when we signed Agyei etc after being linked with Leon Clarke? But you would settle for non league players?

What if the non league players didn't perform and we were at the bottom? Whose fault is it then? Or would Mowbray be forgiven as he's signed the so called Citroen players?

Got no choice but to wait until Jan unless we sign someone who's been out of contract since before thr end of august and in all probability since the end of last season. We know from Cole, fortune, king, hunt, etc that it takes a good 3 months to get them anywhere near fit enough to make any real impact.

Why did we sign him? Panic from no plan b.

How much was the top scorer in the league?

Oh my life.

Honestly unbelievable. You're literally having a pop a bloke who tried to sign good players. Players that in his opinion would have made our squad competitive at the top end of this division. But you're saying you would rather sign non league or league 2 players. Do you think he had no chance of signing Wilson but just chased him anyway?

If someone offered me a BMW or a "nice" Citroen I know which one i would take.

But you can't afford the BMW? It's not being offered, you have to pay the players. You have to give them as higher level to play at. I would rather sign players that suit the league, yes. Common sense isn't it? He had no chance of Wilson if a championship club came in, no. Also, you mentioned about players lasting the season hence me mentioning Wilson as it's something he has struggled to do. The Finnish bloke wasn't signed because of an injury yet Wilson's injury record was fine. It doesn't add up.

The same Leon Clarke who will happily walk out as soon as more money is offered. Glad we didn't sign him. Still, you would, he's a 'name' after all. You would think after so many years of seeing CCFC buying 'names' and the 'names' not doing much the fans would be adverse to them.

No one has said all over the pitch. Still, we'll find out come May where our tippy tappy football has got us.

no we wont because mowbray has gone. we will never know how we would have ended up had ge stayed manager

also calling it tippy tappy shows your disdain for it.

i think you are more a fan of hoooooooooof. get into them/ ave it.........large

Can anyone explain to me why we had to sell Vince for a small transfer fee to fund the loans yet still have funds from the budget unspent !!! just doesn't make sense, but that was the explanation given by TM as for MV he is a board member, of course he will say we have a competitive budget but has admitted it is smaller than last year at a time when iti is perceived that other clubs budgets have risen.

All about wages I think, so he shipped out a higher earner to bring in a different high earner, the transfer fee probably covered the extra wages they expected to pay the new guy who they failed to get.

I'm a fan of winning games? We're in league one, we have to play league one football. If that means in some games we have to hoof and run, so be it. We want out of this league don't we? Or do we now only want out if it's playing possession football?

Leicester didn't play possession football and won the premiership. They played a style to suit the players they had and the opposition they come up against. Two things it appears TM was clueless about. Wingers in a formation without wingers for example. We play possession football against all teams not just those it would suit. Surely if you are claiming to be a 'football fan', then you are aware of tactics and adjusting them to suit?

Mowbray and Venus aren't stupid men. They will have known exactly what our budget could afford. We don't know the details on the players he wanted. He could have had them almost done and then get out done by a championship club late on. Like I said before he wouldn't have just been chasing these players without some sort of communication between the agent and the club. There must have been word coming back that the player was interested etc etc.

Just to simply say he chased the wrong players is wrong imo.

But nobody seems to know who the right players are. People just say oh he should've signed non league players. Yea that's all well and good but who? And like I said what if they didn't work? Is Mowbray at fault again?

There is no middle ground with our fans.

I would rather he tried to get the best players available than to sign unheard of non leaguers. We're not in the luxurious position of if they don't work it doesn't matter.

Yes it was a very bad summer recruitment wise but I cannot blame Mowbray and Venus for trying to sign good players.

Is that genuinely your argument?

People are coming out making bold claims saying that our budget is lower with no evidence at all. When people question that asking for evidence, your response is where is the evidence that it hasn't been reduced?

You should be embarrassed
Why should he be embarrassed we had people on here all last season saying we had a top 6 or 8 budget how did they know? Then we had Anderson telling no us he didn't know either because he didn't know what other clubs budgets were. So when you question other people's assessment of our budget you are no better placed to know than they are. So if they should be embarrassed then so should you.

But I would blame them for not having a realistic back-up plan in place. The fact that Mowbray was complaining after the season had started that he had missed out on six centre halves surely shows that his targets were unrealistic? Aiming high and ending up with third choice perhaps wouldn't have been a disaster, but to miss out on six...something must be wrong there.

I don't think it's just the players we missed out on that have left us bottom of the league. Purely recruitment wise (because tactics this season have also been questionable) mistakes have been made, I think. I'm not someone who will proclaim JOB and Martin as League One's answer to Scholes and Maldini, but I do think both could well improve our current team. Recruitment from January onwards has been a real problem and played a big part in us falling away last year as well as starting this year so poorly.

Obviously you could also say that TM's hands were tied budget wise, Maddison was sold at the last minute for peanuts etc etc. I think what I'm trying to say is...it's a mess, isn't it?

swansea did play possesion football and they did get promoted from league 1

not 1 way to play. everything works and everything fails at one time or another

right now we just lack some good central defenders really.

sordell scored 3,works hard.good player

Sorry not having that. Sisu are a portion to blame, but having known their budget TM and MV have failed on recruitment and that along with tactics is the major reason we are bottom of the league.

It is not just the budget, the cloud of uncertainty that hangs over the club must have an effect.

If SISU had taken care of the important issues there would be clarity on the Academy, clarity on Ryton and clarity on the Home Ground and no problems with legal actions which have poisoned relations with most local partners.

SISU are wholly to blame for the shower of shite this club is in. They are a toxic organisation who have done nothing but kill the club. And you actually say that TM is to blame? You're a joke.

You should be the one that is embarrassed for believing anything that comes out of Fishers mouth even if he has only given you half the answer.
And the evidence is there if you look for it?
Just because your to stupid or just blinded by TF don't expect me to find it for you.

Whilst I don't disagree that our owners are the biggest load of wank, yes TM (and MV) have to take a large portion of the blame for us sitting bottom of league one, and if you want to look further back his record across 2016 was shocking. This is after all why TM fell on his sword.
