We missed somebody like Doyle telling refs what to do, it was always the opposition last season.

Agree my highlight of the day, at first I was thinking "FFS" then realising it was one of ours and doing a little jig!

That'll get us points, by influencing cards, pens and major decisions this season for sure!

It's like Michael Doyle has gone from Willie Bolland to Roy Keane after his trip to the South Coast

I didn't think the ref had a bad game. Yes he talked a bit but rather that than flash cards. I can't stand yellow and red cards unneeded anyway. It just ruins the game. Must of been ten minutes since the first free kick. I thought it was a fair challenge and neither side can complain. We were better and won 3-0 and rightly so. He didn't give any dodgy cards or dodgy pens. Nowt wrong for me.

Fans are far too quick to knock refs. They do their job best they can. Yes they make bad decisions that's life. They don't mean to. The ref made no glaring errors yesterday. It is league 2 also.

City fans all around us were fuming at his leniency with the Notts fouling. That both fans are annoyed with him possibly means he did ok

or that he was just shit.
I don't like to see refs throwing cards around like confetti but he should have given at least 2 out in the first half.

I thought ref was ok. Yes maybe gave fouls for minor stuff and wanted to talk rather than card but he did it all evenly.

I thought the ref had a well balanced performance. He was equally shit to both sides.

He didn't ruin the match or make any wrong game-changing decisions. That's probably the best we can hope for in League Two.

Ref grew into game. First half he could/should have booked a couple. Once county had to chase game they dropped a lot of the rough stuff.

Refs first game in the football league yesterday and it showed. Easily influenced by Doyle! Allowed Notts to to overstep the mark after the 3rd poor challenge in a matter of mins a yellow was needed to send a warning message out.

Suspect there will be a lot of poor officials at this level 2 poorer than we've ever seen before!
You are probably right about that. Yesterday's ref is new to the FL but obviously well thought of as he did the play-off final between Tranmere and Forest Green last season.

Division four is where the new refs are expected to get experience, which is fair enough, I suppose. But there are other reasons why the standard will be poor. We may get the odd experienced referee from the National Group who will regard Div.4 as a bit beneath him and not be too bothered. The biggest problem will be the old retainers who know they will never progress further but are kept for their experience. They are the loose cannons. Wait until we get the pleasure of Trevor Kettle ruining one of our games!
