Again, shows how far we've come that this even seems mildly realistic. What a player. It’s been suggested that there is a distinct possibility that we can sign him permanently and if not then we can get a loan. It would be a massive boost to get this done.

Genuinely think he is better at 21 than Jack Stephens was here at 23
I'm convinced he will be a premier league player by 24
Can't see any logical reason whatsoever why Brighton wouldn't trigger the option in his contract. Even if they don't see him getting in their team they know he'll have a host of suitors.
Only chance I feel we have is another loan or we find some serious money down the back of the sofa when we're clearing out of St Andrews.

Clubs are trimming their squads, due to financial pressures, they are looking at quality rather that quantity.I don’t see why so many decent players are being released. Have clubs been really lax with contract renewals, is it a case of trimming squads even if they have a potential value or are players just forcing moves more?

As far as Ostigard goes, he has publicly stated he wants first team football, and he ain't going to get that at Brighton, so why keep a player who is unhappy for a year, not play him, and see him walk away for nothing in a years time.
Brighton will Let him go now, and invest the wages on someone else. (Imo)
Leo was 20 when he started here,Stephens was a lot better on the ball as well as being a good defender. Further up the leagues you go more emphasis there is on technical ability, especially with the way Brighton like to play out from the back.
Leo was 20 when he started here, passes more often than jack does and completes 7/10 passes basically.
He is a better defender overall than jack was at 23 playing at a higher level too .
Jack is a good passer of the ball but has several years on Leo.
I have no doubt ostigard has the attributes to make it to the top,he's playing consistently at a higher level at a younger age

You don’t improve your financial position by giving assets away for nothing.Covid has affected incomes I would think. Suspect a lot of clubs need to trim the fat on the playing squads.

If they aren’t intending to keep him then trigger his extension and sell him for a million quid or two.

We never got to the end of if Villa offered him a deal or not though.
So he wasn’t free then. We’d have arranged a few and sell on with Villa. It was well reported that he turned two deals down with them
The offer has to be the same or better than a player was on. Don’t think it wasSo he wasn’t free then. We’d have arranged a few and sell on with Villa.

But less money for a club to spend on his wages. It is not a normal close season. Who knows what their situation is but clubs across the country will not be making normal decisions.
They're not daft though, letting him go for nothing without even a sell-on included would be nonsensical. The realistic way of getting him will be for a low initial fee with a sell on
