Don't think they apply for this do they? It's the EFL trophy which has the numerical requirements.

I can't see anything in the regulations about how many players from the previous matchday squad have to be included in the cup squads, it just says "full strength".

There are a few other sources that say it's 7 from the previous squad need to be in the squad, so theoretically you could make wholesale changes as long as they're deemed to be of a suitable strength.

Someone said before that the rule has changed

Think we need to shake it up abit to find our best team in the league. EMC is clearly much more comfortable on the left. Simms struggling atm to impact games (mostly due to service)

Wilson
MVE Thomas Kitching DaSilva
Palmer Eccles Rudoni
BTA Wright EMC

Nah, if Simms is struggling up front due to lack of service wtf is Haji going to be like if he plays up front.

I’d argue that Wright is better with it played to feet and has the ability to pin and turn a man. He has more finesse than Simms. I’m not knocking Simms he’s a brilliant goal scorer, but needs it on a plate.

Disagree completely, Simms is better with his back to goal than Wright.

I'd argue that Simms is far, far better with his back to goal, is stronger and is far better at linking player.

I would like to see the game used to tweak our formation.
Old school - 2 CFs - Wright (see if he can play centrally in a 2) + Thomas Asante.
One wide left - EMC with licence to switch flanks.
Midfield - Allen + Torp with free role for Palmer.
Back 4 - Lati, Thomas, Kitching, Da Silva.
So 4-2-1-3. Wilson GK
Rest the others but strong bench. Hopefully Sheaf and Bassette, Eccles, Rudoni and Saka can feature off the bench.

The only other choice is MVE and I can’t see MR starting him against Oxford.

Oxford world also love it if MVE didn't play against them. 🤔

Maybe a good old 442 could be the solution to our midfield woes

Wilson
MVE Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Sakamoto* Allen Eccles EMC
BTA Bassette

Swap out Saka if he's not up to playing the minutes.

I would play

Wilson
Lats Thomas Kitching Dasilva
Torp Allen
BTA Palmer EMC
Simms

I doubt Simms does start in reality, but if I've got my Football Manager hat on then I'd see it as a chance to get some goals and I feel like he needs some confidence. I guess the team will be pretty close to the team that started against Bristol City in the cup though.

Hi everyone,

I hope this is allowed on your forum. My son and I are visiting the Ricoh on Tuesday for him to complete a vlog of Coventry City and the match against Oxford.

Please feel free to give his current videos a watch. He is called FootballMadCharlie.

He has only recently started this and has been to Preston, Eastleigh and Sunderland.

I will update this thread when the video is live - or to get automatic updates please subscribe. Thanks in advance for your support.

Sheaf to play. Get no assists. Blaze the ball into row Z from 20 yards on three or four occasions. Also fall asleep and play Oxford in on goal maybe two or three times.

9 out of 10 on the match ratings because of a few strong tackles and looking like a world beater whilst Torp does his best Sunday League impression. Everyone scratching their heads to why Doug has rejected seven bids from premier league teams in excess of 25 million, which was what half this forum was saying three months ago. Oh wait, it never happened... Mind fuck. SBT goes into meltdown whilst it realises our problems are much deeper and rooted into application rather than missing one single player.

Just making the observation that if you’re paying 4.5 million for a Centre half at this level you expect him to be at least starting week in week out.

Admittedly there’s plenty of time for the Centre backs to grow and develop, but I just think it’s slightly concerning that’s all.
You’d play kitching instead of binks on what grounds?

To get a few more fans up there however I’d suggest a start for the new boy Bassette. FOMO will then play its part. I’d play him with BTE and have Simms and Wright on the bench in case of need like they did at Brizzle in the first round.

Those who are the most likely to break into the first team against Norwich should play
EMC (for Saka)
Palmer (for Torp)
Thomas (for Lati, altho it's not going to happen I dream)

I suggest keeping Simms in. Might get a confidence boosting goal.

Otherwise not fussed
