With McNair are we in danger of making him the new Michael McIndoe? Michael McIndoe always looked a brilliant player agaisnt us… didn’t turn out that way.

got to be a reason McNair has been let go by boro - maybe he only turned up against us?

It took them nearly 200 games to discover he only turns up against Coventry?!

I’m kind of ambivalent to lati really
That's pretty unusual for you, G? You usually nail your colours to the fence - Ryan Haynes comes to mind! That said, I agree with you on this one.

Edit: he was probably the best player for getting on the end of attacking corners at times last season. Has a decent leap on him.

Valid point. I’d still have him, it’s just he’s a player from a team we’re competing directly against - why are they releasing him?

Yeah I always worry about this sort of thing as well, obviously with some free agents it’s because they want to go to a better club and don’t want to renew their contract (like O’Hare) but with McNair it could be something else as he’s not exactly “hot property” right now. There’s also no guarantee he gets into a better team than Boro, so maybe they just feel they need fresher legs in their team or someone better entirely. I again think we can and need to do better if we want to get into the prem.

From a Boro supporting friend:
'Think there was a sense that he’d done his time (Pulis bought him), high wages and experience would make negotiating a new contract difficult, position where we are well stocked. Would have been an expensive squad player. Never really caught the fans imagination but you’d struggle to find anyone with a bad word to say about him.'

I’d gather we’d be in the same boat then. Were likely going to persevere with Kitching and Thomas - he’d essentially be a high wages squad player

That was my initial take too but I guess the club will have to crunch the numbers. We need at least 1 CB - do his wages = wages and fee we might be looking at for similar quality elsewhere and what are the implications for Kitching and the rest of the squad's wage expectations.
