Pask v Da Costa (1 Viewer)

As Fankaty may be out for some or all crucial games now, do we go with Da Costa or Pask? Although Da Costa looks really dangerous going forward at times, his positional awareness and stamina (tends to do erratic things the more tired he gets) over 90 minutes leave me nervous. Overall I think I'd probably prefer Pask, who is more of a steady Eddie and better in the air, if less 'entertainment value!'

Has this been confirmed?
Dabo was clutching just below his buttock for a minute or two before he dropped to the ground. MR mentioned hamstring, and given his recent injury history, I think it's better to plan without him.

We have twelve days it will depend if it’s a pull or a tear, a tear could be a couple of months job, fingers crossed on that one.

If Dabo is out, I would expect Da Costa to play as long as we continue playing wing backs. If we go to a back 4 however, Pask will have to play as Da Costa would be a potentially defensive liability from what he's shown so far.

I think Pask. Hopefully the extra time off will allow Rose to gain fitness (U23 game please MR!) allowing him to play the full 90 ext time. If not, Pask would have to move across and Dacosta come into the WB around the hour mark and we have to use up a sub.

MR said on CWR yesterday that Dabo's problem was his hamstring. Don't know how long that means he will be out for.

Prefer Pask to Dacosta all day long, much better defender.

It's quite concerning that the scouts have seen him a worthwhile signing

Same with Hilssner, Kastaneer and Jobello. Had Robins ever seen them play or did he just go on Badlans recommendation and highlight clips?

Gyokeres too.

We costa for home games for sure. When he gets game time he can give us something in attack and that's what we need

I share the doubts about Dacosta, he looks a bit loose to say the least. I would say some of the reviews of him a tad harsh given he’s not really had a significant run in the team. But after yesterdays result I entirely understand why people may be slightly more negative. Of course the same can be said for Pask. I just admit, it’s been in short stints but have been fairly impressed with Pask apart from one game where he got done on the far side for a goal. Our lack of goals and fairly depressing football makes me want to do a bit gung-ho which might be more suited to a maverick in Dacosta, but it’s probably safer and more sensible to try and grind our way to safety in which case Pask should get the nod

That's pretty much how I see it. At least we have some cover on that side. and to be honest with Fankaty, he has not been 100% for a while.

It has to be Pask, much better defensively than Dacosta, whose positional play looks all over the place. Also, as has been alluded to already on this thread, he’s living on a 20 minutes cameo appearance against Forest, where he did look very dangerous. Since then, I don’t think he’s added any quality In the attacking third of the pitch. I would add that we also now have a problem in the left full back/wing back position.

Reid could be the answer there
He's the same age as when Sam came in but with a lot more experience than Sam had at the time
Hopefully he'll be ready for when we come back after the break
Pask is a different type of player to Da Costa
His crossing wasn't great when he was at wing back in pre-season games but Da Costa's crosses have been pretty poor or non-existent

18 year old left back - has he played on the right before betterdays? I'd go with Pask in terms of solidity in the short term - but MR knows best (it's just Da Costa reminds me of the kid in the playground who chases the ball everywhere in a manic sort of fashion)

For Reid I was talking about on the left where Cov Kid thought we have a problem

Honestly can’t believe what I’m reading here. Picking a wing back because of their defensive ability is bonkers, especially when we look so toothless in attack already. Dacosta is being tarred by early performances in the same way Sheaf was - has everyone forgot about his performance vs Brentford?

Edit: just to add, I don’t think Dacosta is some kind of superstar wing back, but he givea us a lot more attacking impetus. Have a bit of ambition.

Reid says he loves a tackle and likes to get forward
Sounds good to me

Will all depend on whether Robins wants a more attacking or defending approach.

Lot of first team at the Alan Higgs today Dabo was asked about his unjury and put his thumb up so make what youse want about that.

Da Costa scares me as a defender. Positioning is dreadful, he lacks awareness, and is not very good in the tackle, on top of that his decision making is awful. Give him 10 decisions to make in a game and he’ll get 7 wrong every time.
He’s a pub player and should be nowhere near our first team as a full back/wing back.
