Moore 7 (no save to make but his use of the ball with hands and feet was impeccable)
Eccles 8 (out of position and lack of experience but unfazed)
Hyam 9 (some excellent headers and incisive passing when coming forward. A little spell midway where he got into some trouble hence not my motm)
McFadzean 8 (caught out early on but not troubled too much. Dictated the pace from the back)
Clarke-Salter 9 (Mr Consistent since return from injury. Strong defensively and mixed it up coming forward)
Bidwell 7 (did okay and pleased he lasted the 90. A couple of decent balls into the box)
Hamer 8 (quick, sharp interchanges first half and crucial block for Ince's early effort. Volleyed pass to Eccles was sublime)
Sheaf 9 (Mr Consistent no2. Carrying his form over with his control of the midfield. Caught in possession in defensive areas a couple of times. Got the assist)
Shipley 7 (makes decent runs off the ball, getting into good positions. Should have scored one of his two chances. We do lose the intensity of the press though)
Allen 9 motm (was main outlet creating half chances; worked his socks off; and then seamlessly shifting into defensive midfield winning headers and blocks in our area. Like a terrier all game)
Gyokeres 7 (really struggled to link the play first half but kept working and scored with his most difficult chance. Tail up after that and loved his Noel Whelan style run near the end)

Waghorn 7 (looked sharp. Managed the game well)
O'Hare 7 (did what he needed to do. Involved in the press which led to goal. Snatched at his chance for 2-0)

I don’t “get” him. Doesn’t beat a man, not great defensively, has a good cross but doesn’t seem to want to take up positions where he’ll receive it and whip one in. I do like that he arrives back stick though, been one of my bugbears about our wingbacks.
He's still getting back to match fitness, he was fine tonight defensively and did two good things going forward (aforementioned cross and the little dink of to Shipley first half). Looked pretty solid to me.

Maybe. I’ve not seen him much so not sure what to compare him to but watched the Swansea game again and thought the same then. He takes up what look like good positions then doesn’t seem to make the most of them. No doubting the quality of his crosses, just curious how he’ll fit into our set up.

Sheaf and the back three all excellent.

Eccles did well for first start of the season and out of position.

Waghorn and O'Hare both showed their class coming on and changing things.

Gyo a different player after he scored.

I think it will take a few weeks for him to get it into his legs the work he has to do here and also pick up our system. I'll reserve judgement for a while.

Yeah same. I’ve been burned one too many times on new signings 😂. Just want to see something from him where I go “oh that’s why we signed him”. He’s had about a weeks training though so plenty of time and good to have a LWB of our own.

Proper enjoyed that.
Good solid team performance , good noise from the fans and the right result.
For me I thought , like many others , that Allen, JCS and Sheaf were the pick of the bunch.
Stokes best player was the appalling referee.
To get in the way once in a game could be down to being unlucky but 4 times is incompetence
Sheaf and JCS deserved their bookings but when them lot did exactly the same he let them off

They had a couple of sustained spells of possesion which would never of happened with O'Hare on the pitch but alls well that ends well

Was it Allen earlier in the season who had about 3 games in a row as a defensive midfielder enforcer? Just kept breaking up, blocking, intercepting everything

Ohare wasn't dropped tonight, he's not 100% fit stemming back to Peterborough game. He put himself forward to play to be fair to the lad, but MR didn't want him to risk from start with other casualties. JJ testingpositive for Covid too didn't help.

Didn’t look committed at all, couldn’t even beat the first man.

Sheaf's progress this season has been something to really enjoy and he doesn't seem to break much sweat doing it either. We really need more bodies in both midfield slots but with no help incoming Eccles will have to step up.

It's genuinely probably 2 players we need and for nothing to be provided is pretty disappointing when you see how close we are to being a genuine challenging side.
Nothing provided? Doesn’t Bidwell count?

Sheaf sublime again. Our best player by a country mile at the moment. We have a serious player on our hands.
Over the next 12 months, there is going to be countless "I'm happy to be proven wrong", "I'm the first to admit" quotes.

We need to start vaulting people.

Solid performance, defence was solid. Going forward we were ok but lacked spark, Shipley and Allen worked hard but wasn't much quality from them and both wing backs didn't offer much of an attacking outlet.

Delighted to get the result, robins yet again coming up with answers yet with the inform striker three best wing backs all unavailable.

Any actual opinions of your own, or just hindsight?
Its not hindsight when you saw it from the beginning but I'll admit that I was being purposely argumentative.

As for my opinion, it was a good performance, not great. Sheaf was my MOM, though in the long term, Gyokeres getting a goal will be the most important.

Eccles put in a solid performance, hopefully he can continue to step up.

Allen put in a great shift but his problem is consistency. I'll be honest, I was worried prematch with the line up and O'Hare out. I wasn't expecting much from the game, I think that's why I maybe getting carried away with the result.

I thought it really showed the difference in quality when O'Hare came on compared to Shipley. Despite the latter doing fine.
