How so? He fucked up and cost us the match a few weeks ago against Walsall and he’s bounced back from it.

Great performance today. Very comfortable.
Burge 8 didn't have a lot to do but did it well. Extra point for completely mugging Samuel off first half.
Stirling 8 absolutely solid. Extra point for winning the pen.
Mason 7 did well getting forward and defended when he needed too.
Willis 7 Did everything expected today with the minimum of fuss.
Hyam 7 same as Willis and did ok against the Beast when he came on.
Kelly 8 thought he gave a captain's performance today until he went off. Hope his injury isn't long term.
Baylis 8 best game for a while. Ran at them well all game. Extra point for the through ball for JCH goal
Thomas 7 caused them problems with his pace. Didn't see too much of the ball second half.
Shipley 7 benefited from having a run of games and is getting better each one. Won the ball high up the pitch a few times with his effort.
Chaplin 7.5 gained confidence after the pen which was well taken after his last shocker. Still playing too deep a lot of the time.
Hiwulla 7. Ran himself into ground . Didn't get a lot of service.
JCH 8 scored with his first touch and looked really fired up. Was a constant menace to their centre halfs and kept calling them in when he had the ball in the corners. Was even having a go at them after the game. I thought he should of had a pen as well. Got behind the defender who was all over him. Ref was right behind it so was shocked he didn't give it.
Mcallum and Doyle 6 came on with the match won and saw it out.
Robins 9 picked the right team and tactics today. Subs were right as well.
SBA 10 Same as always. Completely out sang the home fans all game.

Sterling: 8 - less spectacular than against Southend, but just a class act
Hyam: 8 - Playing away so central defenders are bound to be busy. He has a greater impact on the overall game than Willis
Willis: 7 - He can jump very high from a standing position, which clears so much stuff. But more inclined to the hopeful lower league long ball than Hyam
Mason: 6 - Solid. They gave him less room to attack than Southend did
Thomas: 6 - busy but no more than that. Although he hit the target, his cut in and shot was straight at the goalkeeper
Kelly: 7 - Strong. Others were more enthusiastic than me
Bayliss: 8.5 - Three wins 4 goals including 1 goal and two assists from Bayliss. Much more competitive. MOTM

I've been to all of our games there over the past 4 or 5 years in league and checkatrade, and it's alway like that, it's a morgue. I went as a neutral a few years ago when they were on verge of playoffs - they resorted to inflatable clapping sticks to try to create an atmosphere, which tells you something.

I don't dislike Shipley and he definitely has his moments, but generally he's too slow, and because he knows it, he often doesn't go for a ball he might just get to first if he tried. . Speed is everything in football and he lacks it unfortunately. So maybe 5 is a bit harsh, but on the day he was frustrating to watch.

I can't believe a few still having a pop at Shippers here. So much better than recent performances and whoever scored him 4 is a joker. I think we all have our player to dislike and it seems this kid is the butt of lots of them at the minute but I'd expect them to be big enough to accept when they do have a good game. My personal boo boy is JCH but I have to accept that he was immense when he came on and I could see a way back for them if MR hadn't made that change, so credit to him for that.

Shipley is still young and only became a regular last season in league 2, certainly the step up is going to be more of a challenge even though I thought he would be a somewhat key player at the start of the season. It seems to me this season will be a good learning curve for him. If he gains experience from this campaign and learns how to adapt his game I think still think we have a decent player in him.

The licence to get forward that the fullbacks have been given helps Shipley's game. He's not a 'take his man on and beat him for skill or pace' type of wide player, more a 'have a touch, make a pass and keep moving'. It's simple but simple can still be effective for the team, if the flair is coming from other parts of the team, which it does when we have Bayliss, Thomas and Hiwula. Having Mason attacking with him and Bayliss playing higher offering him a pass inside is creating him space and options while Kelly also ventures up the pitch more and offers an easy pass backwards. Another one benefitting from a more coherent style of team play.

I though his performance (apart from one misplaced pass) was excellent.
Even before the sublime assist, I thought he played really well.
In fact, I thought the way he played was a good riposte to the numpties* who have been suggesting he should be rested.
*That would be me. Perhaps there is a reason why Mark Robins doesn't sound me out in team selection

I call that determined. So perhaps we agree. Brutal means intention to damage or maim. Haven't bothered to look it up in a dictionary. Just think you are using the wrong word. Then you often seem to be licking your lips over the prospect of an opponent breaking a leg. Which seems pretty brutal to me. Wouldn't be happy for our players to intend to injure their opponents. It's not being soft, it is being a good player. Using your skills to show your opponents up.

The games changed a lot over the years, it don’t allow it and with it players mindsets have too. Is that 50/50 ball worth a serious injury, for the player to fall down the pecking order from the injury lay off or suspension incurred.
Players at this level are generally only on 2 year deals too, can potentially do yourself out of a job and be looking to rebuild your once promising career down the pyramid now the professional pool of players gets greater and greater year after year.
