The bloke sat next to me (who was with his small 5 or 6 year old son) yelled at him that he was an f**king t**t during the first half because he punched the ball rather than catching it. The same bloke shouted abuse at Shipley whenever he had the ball. Why do people like this even go?
Scared the living daylights out of me... fair play to him...Burge with his turn against their striker as well. Was easier to clear it
I loved seeing it. The bloke is full of confidence for the first time in his career. You can see the way he enjoys the fans cheering his name.
However, imagine if he messed it up... Some Coventry fans would never forgive him.
How so? He fucked up and cost us the match a few weeks ago against Walsall and he’s bounced back from it.
I've gotta give the Wycombe fans 1/10 for the atmosphere from them inside the ground.
I've been to all of our games there over the past 4 or 5 years in league and checkatrade, and it's alway like that, it's a morgue. I went as a neutral a few years ago when they were on verge of playoffs - they resorted to inflatable clapping sticks to try to create an atmosphere, which tells you something.I've gotta give the Wycombe fans 1/10 for the atmosphere from them inside the ground.

apparently it was a big crowd for them as well. Was shocking wasn't it? Kept expecting something to come from one of their stands but the most was a kid shouting "who are ya" I think.
I don't dislike Shipley and he definitely has his moments, but generally he's too slow, and because he knows it, he often doesn't go for a ball he might just get to first if he tried. . Speed is everything in football and he lacks it unfortunately. So maybe 5 is a bit harsh, but on the day he was frustrating to watch. Some of the ratings for Shipley and Burge show that some people will never let their grudges go.
I can't believe a few still having a pop at Shippers here. So much better than recent performances and whoever scored him 4 is a joker. I think we all have our player to dislike and it seems this kid is the butt of lots of them at the minute but I'd expect them to be big enough to accept when they do have a good game. My personal boo boy is JCH but I have to accept that he was immense when he came on and I could see a way back for them if MR hadn't made that change, so credit to him for that.
Hyam must get an extra point for walking down the fans high fiving after the game!
The licence to get forward that the fullbacks have been given helps Shipley's game. He's not a 'take his man on and beat him for skill or pace' type of wide player, more a 'have a touch, make a pass and keep moving'. It's simple but simple can still be effective for the team, if the flair is coming from other parts of the team, which it does when we have Bayliss, Thomas and Hiwula. Having Mason attacking with him and Bayliss playing higher offering him a pass inside is creating him space and options while Kelly also ventures up the pitch more and offers an easy pass backwards. Another one benefitting from a more coherent style of team play.Shipley is still young and only became a regular last season in league 2, certainly the step up is going to be more of a challenge even though I thought he would be a somewhat key player at the start of the season. It seems to me this season will be a good learning curve for him. If he gains experience from this campaign and learns how to adapt his game I think still think we have a decent player in him.
Yes I saw that on Twitter today and Biamou added himself into the fans
There were some serious bottled challenges.
Shipley and Chaplin had the chance for some brutal 50/50s but backed out at the last minute.
From the Wycombe fans (not the best spelling and grammar but we’ll let that go)
‘I think many on here are not giving too much credit to Coventry, their work rate and closing down was very impressive. And in there number 20 Tom Baylis possible the most cultured and well balanced midfielder ive seen at Adams Park for a long while.’
Blimey. Bayliss a 6?Burge 7
Sterling 8
Willis 8
Hyam 8
Mason 6
Kelly 9
Bayliss 6
Shipley 6
Thomas 7
Chaplin 6
Hiwula 6
JCH 8
At least it has reduced our potential injury list. I'm inclined to give each of them an extra 0.5 point.
Backing out of challenges isn't showing the opposition up.I call that determined. So perhaps we agree. Brutal means intention to damage or maim. Haven't bothered to look it up in a dictionary. Just think you are using the wrong word. Then you often seem to be licking your lips over the prospect of an opponent breaking a leg. Which seems pretty brutal to me. Wouldn't be happy for our players to intend to injure their opponents. It's not being soft, it is being a good player. Using your skills to show your opponents up.
By brutal I mean where somebody takes a heavy touch and its there to absolutely go through them and win the ball. As opposed to jumping out of the way and letting them have the ball.
The world has gone soft
Backing out of challenges isn't showing the opposition up.
