You seriously underestimate a team battling to survive.
Not really, looks like I underestimated our ability to play well twice on the trot.

They are no great shakes, they were stronger in the challenge, and worked harder off the ball than we did. Which is inexcusable.
Our keeper also fucked up for 2 goals.

We missed Thomas's ability in the air and his strength in the tackle, MvE looked knackered, Sakamoto didn't fancy the physical stuff and Simms was ..... well. ...Simms.

We got very lucky with the other results going our way, but we have to sort this out before Luton.

Well, MASSIVE fail from Lamps today. Thought he could rest Sheaf and Dasilva and play Allen and Bidders and coast against a poor team. Both poor decisions. This close to the end of the season with this much at steak, you play your strongest possible starting 11 regardless of opponent. Poor decision for me. Would the red card of changed the outcome of the game? Most likely, but let's be honest, we didn't want it today. Dog shit from back to front, from start to finish. Up there with both Derby games as one of our worst performances, not just this season, but in recent history. Same as v Hull, just not up for the fight or aggressive enough and far too slow and lacklustre when we have the ball.

I'm not really sure sheaf and dasilva would have made any difference. Like they didn't when they came on

I am not blowing my own trumpet here at all. Just wanting to restate the fact that teams at the bottom pull out wins at the death. It was on the cards.

It happens and has always happened throughout footballing history.

4 of the bottom 5 clubs won today. It's the end of the season, it's cup finals all round.

We need to learn from this. Luton is going to be very, very tough.
I had exactly the same thought a few games ago I said Brizzle's and ours looked the hardest run ins of the lot.

A really missed opportunity today. I think we did get it wrong today in not playing Sheaf and Tat's just was not even in the game. We need EMC back for sure as a provider. We had no penetration and that miss from Wright was terrible.
Luton will be tougher than this.

I don’t think we could have played to Plymouth’s strengths anymore if we tried. I get respect the opposition but we got it totally wrong today

Sidenote.. Simms has to go in the summer, not good enough

We knew this though

Frank will lament us not executing the system well enough but he could’ve adapted today - let’s hope he does against Luton as it will be very similar

Yeah the posts pre kick off very naive. Possibly from kids or just posters with poor football knowledge

I think it's fair to say that whoever gets the last two playoff places is really not up to the standard required.

You can't capitulate against such limited opponents and have aspirations to get promoted. Apart from the fact that we struggle in the face of any team that shows above average physicality, we're so obliging in letting defensively minded teams find their shape.
Not just the last 2, Sunderland are just as shit. And as far ahead as the other 3 are, I don't see any of them surviving next season.

For those who shouted the loudest earlier.....that's football for you. No result was a given. We lost. Middlesbrough lost. Bristol City lost. Biggest shock was Middlesbrough 1-0 up and a penalty they missed against players that never got paid last month with nothing to play for.

I'm happy to have a debate with anyone. But please put some facts behind the debate. Otherwise it just shows you know nothing about football and I'm not here to show people they're clueless. Just want to talk about football.

Luton will want us to try and control the match like Bristol did today. When we play them I think we should let them have more of the ball. They’ll open up more at the back and we can hit them on the break.

Depends what EMC we get, the one in the purple patch or the one we've had either side of that.

I said if we didn’t turn up we’d lose. That’s exactly what happened.

Desperate times and all that but we really need to look at the keeper for Luton. Wilson if fit or Bell.

Hes done well with his distribution but he’s not had much to do until today. Furthermore I like Lati but making him mark the tall ST was never going to work.

Should have started a 5-3-2 with the players avaliable imo. Might also of made Plymouth come out so they’d be slightly vulnerable on the transitions. But hindsight is 20/20 and all that. Important we drop this one and go into Luton knowing if we better Boro and Millwalls result we are in
How is Wilson not fit? What is going on? He's a keeper. It's not like we're throwing him on at RB for 90mins and asking him to run as much as MVE does. How "fit" do you have to be as a GK? He's either injured, or he's not? And if he's not? Then he's fit?

Probably. When something doesn't work you often hear "the players didn't do what I wanted them to."

Well when that happens again and again in very similar circumstances then you have to start thinking that maybe the players can't actually do what it is you want.

We had a cracking run using 3-5-2 and got results in games we arguably shouldn't. Now we seem wedded to 4-3-3 and it's pretty obvious from the off whether we're getting a result or not.

Needs more flexibility.

it's a red in 2025, late, high, out of control and endangered a player
Allen gets up and runs to the ref asking for a card. He needs to go down and make it look bad. Granted, it was bad and it was a red, but he's given the ref a decision. You go down and stay down whether injured or not, and give the ref no doubt

Who said it was a given? We were saying IF we turned up and played our best we should win. We didn't. Piss off back to the Sunderland forum
