Sheaf was excellent, but one of the easiest games he will ever have with no pressure from Plymouth players on him. As someone else said I’d still get rid, absolute no balls about him when it gets a bit difficult
What I’m quite certain of is that if Sheaf was in the position that Eccles found himself in for both of his goals, Sheaf would have looked to check and probably pass rather than shoot.
What we do know is that Lampard was the absolute player that Sheaf should be looking to emulate.
Maybe Eccles will really come on under a bit of Lampard tutoring. Maybe even Torp. It’ll be interesting to see.
We spend big money on nutritional analysis, performance analysis, physio, physical performance optimisation etc., I’m sure a bit of mindfulness and motivational intervention is worth a try. I think we’ve one or two players with “imposter syndrome”.
I’m ready for the laughing emojis, but Sims needs an intervention to deal with his issues and I think Sheaf needs something. Sheaf doesn’t believe in himself nor does Sims.
I remember reading Frank Bruno’s autobiography where he has hypnosis before big fights.
Anyway.
Sheaf
Sims
Collins
Dovin
Kitching (possibly)
All need some mental performance intervention.
That’s my take.
