Would just like to see him play more (simms). I do rate emc but he’s not looked ‘on it’ the last few games. To be fair probably to do with the recent opposition.
Or it could be to do with EMC coming back from an injury and not being as sharp yet, it took him a while to get up to full speed initially. Simms needs to do more to warrant a place in the starting line up imo. He works hard, but doesn't use his physique enough, doesn't win enough in the air for his height and doesn't score often enough (6 in 38 league games this season). It's an area we need investment in whichever league we're in next season.

Thought we were pretty boring.

Emc tried to do way too much every single time.

Paterson motm followed by Rudoni for the assist.

Special mention for wright for doing the worst bottle of the season for no reason.
It was one of them games when you need an early goal to open them up , but they were defending well to stay in this league .

Pleased Lampard stuck with Collins and was good to hear the crowd sing his name, must have been good for his confidence.

MVE was MOTM for me. Da Silva played really well again. Rudoni great and Sheaf was fine when he came on too. A good replacement. Shame about Torp, think we'll miss him. Love Thomas and Kitchin at the back. Wright and EMC disappointing.

With Eccles and now Torp injured we are slowly losing our first choice penalty takers should that fate befall us again!
Let's be honest if we go to pens again I've already accepted our fate. If we somehow pull it off it will be a bonus, hopefully we'll go for the win.

Another reason to try and get Simms scoring again in the run up, then hopefully we won't have to worry about pens

Some of Dasilva's best games recently have been against Patrick Roberts and Marcus Edwards, both left footers who want to play with the ball at their feet rather than run beyond their full back. He doesn't get exposed when they aren't direct runner types up against him.

When not getting exposed defensively, he's generally a very decent footballer to have in the left back position.

Yeah I thought DaSilva had a good game as well to be fair to him.

I think it would be a bit of a nightmare playing Left Back with EMC in front.

Collins - 6 - Pleased for him, not much to do but good for his confidence. Did what was asked of him (bit of a flap when they hit the bar)
DaSilva - 7 - had criticism recently but really stepped up, was winning lots (even headers!!!)
Thomas - 6.5 - few sloppy pieces here and there but as a combo, did the job.
Kitching - 7 - rate the aggression and tidied up when required.
MvE - 7.5 - Against a tricky and fast opponent, they really targeted that side and MVE dealt with it nicely.
Grimes - 7 - Came deep, controlled possession when we needed to. Good on the ball and allowed others to strive forward.
Torp - N/A speedy recovery.
Rudoni - 9 - This guy must be sick of assisting, good performance and was involved in nearly all our chances
EMC - 7.5 - I thought EMC was our best outlet, did their RB time after time when we had little else going. Often an outlet on long ball and he was sharp - didn't get the output but for a tough opposition set up he did well!
Sakamoto - 6.5 - had a few bright sparks, much brighter than the game against Burnley.
Wright - 6 - not great service tonight - give him the ball and he can be useful! Notably he did duck out.

Subs
Sheaf - 6.5 - Started sloppy, the odd bad pass throughout (maybe missing some match fitness) Looked a more progressive passer looking forward
Simms - 6 - Looked hungry and energetic, didn't get much service.
Norman - 5 - Didn't get a chance to get involved, I like Norm and think he has more to offer.
Pato - 9 - Some finish - that quality is what wins games....and it did.

Wright
Rudoni
Grimes
Sheaf
Paterson (to score the winning penalty!)

I reckon Thomas or Kitching could belt one in. Dasilva has good technique.

But yes, Eccles and Torp are both very good.

I've defended Sheaf on here all season, but the thought of him taking a penalty after that one at Wembley last season gives me nightmares and I'm not sure his career could come back from missing another, he looked devastated.

Collins - 7 maybe could've done better when they hit the bar but otherwise steady and distributes well
DaSilva - 7 surely our number one left back now , looks more confident
Thomas - 6 very erratic tonight but still a threat from set pieces
Kitching - 8 love his aggression but also some of his passing was sublime
MvE - 7 so frustrating at times but another solid game against a tricky opponent
Grimes - 6 slowed it down too much tonight
Torp - 6 looked a nasty injury
Rudoni - 9 our best player and biggest threat
EMC - 7 hot and cold performance
Sakamoto - 7 see above
Wright - 6 he isnt a centre forward

Subs
Sheaf - 6 just doesn't look interested or not match sharp
Simms - 7 showed well and challenged for everything
Norm - 5 just headless
Pato - 9 boooooooom
disagree with norman being headless - if he hadnt have pulled the defender away pato wouldnt have been open...

I would say that’s a fair assessment. Still think there’s a player there, proved it last season it’s the consistency I suppose. I would agree that that is an area that needs a bit of focus. Whatever league we are in I would expect some movement

If we do get to penalties in the play offs I would be very surprised if Bassette isn't on the pitch by the end of extra time, given his shoot out winner against Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the season.

Rudoni and MvE can share M.O.M
Dasilva was better than usual
EMC is starting to frustrate me, too little end product.
Sakamoto worked very hard and deserves higher marks than he's been given on here.
Grimes needs to be more positive and speed play up and pass forward more often.
Everyone else 6/10
Pato just justified his contract, absolutely brilliant strike, and he could be an option on the left.
Simms looked poor 5/10
