Would probably make more sense to rest him for Pompey really as Plymouth at home we're probably going to have more of the ball
I'd quite like us to go at Pompey but yes i do agree he'll go more conservative away most likely.

I'd imagine we're going to have to rotate several players over Christmas/New year.
We've got 5 games in 15 days.
Not a bad thing, gives people a chance to stake a claim to start more regularly under the new management. Either that or prove they really are done and need shifting on. We'll learn something anyway.

Agree. Anyone who doesn't get a look in between now and the cup game is destined for the exit door.

I think Allen will get some minutes, even if it's just as sub
Defo for another thread but i reckon all our out of contract players will be off in the summer, can't see us renewing any of them. Interested to know what others thoughts are.

Harsh on Allen, if he is discarded without playing again. He has been a good servant to the club. Yes we all know he is on the way out but doesn't deserve to be ignored.

He'll get some minutes I'm sure.

But he's obviously behind Sheaf, Eccles, Torp and Rudoni if you count him as a CM (and possibly a January signing!) so it's hard to see him getting much game time.

He won't play all 3 games.
It wasn't that long ago he could barely last 15 minutes.
If I've underestimated his fitness and he can start all 3 then great but I doubt he will.

Good grief, it's the middle of December and some people are concerned about players fitness, well if they're not fit by now they never will be. 🙈

What?! You think Lampards not going to rotate players when we've got 5 games in 15 days?

And Lampard himself has commented about their fitness, though I think he was lying because honest Doug said they were 'Premier league fit'.

Good grief another person that doesn’t realise that if footballers play a full 90 mins for 5 games in 15 days, their performance will suffer and they are massively at risk of getting an injury.

Footballers are elite athletes, but they’re also human. They are made of the same stuff as me or you. There will inevitably be rotation in the more demanding positions.

Not a problem 5 games in 15 days, they just won't do any training in between games.

And your hatred for Doug King is blinding your judgement.

I’m sure it will be a problem for you when you’re watching players unable to match opposition sprints 3 games in and then two centre mids get injured in the same game!

Realistically though he will rotate some players depending on their workload in the games, which I imagine we will be monitoring.

EDIT - when I say we, I don’t mean SBT, I mean the football club (I hope).

What are you on about,'hate King'?

I don't hate King, I'm very wary of him

And Lampard contradicted what King said regarding fitness
You believe King over Lampard, that's your perogative, I don't.

And with regard to Torp, there have long been question marks over his fitness. Just because he suddenly looks like he might be able to last 90 minutes I don't think that's the cue to play him in 3 games in 9 days.

If that's what the manager does I'll hold my hands up and say I was wrong.

Three games in 9 days is a lot for anyone.

I think Eccles will start in some of the away fixtures personally.

Oh I get it we can't play players because they might get injured.

Ask any player who's played at any level if they would rather train all week or play games, I know which one I chose back in the day.

Right back position becomes particularly problematic during this period imo. MvE already needs a break, he'll be a dead man walking after this.

It’s about likelihood of injury being massively increased - you understand that right?

It’s not about what the player prefers to be doing. If it was we wouldn’t have Dr Claire kicking their Xboxes out of the window at 2am and tucking the lads in.

It’s about looking after their fragile, jelly like masses so they can continue to perform at a high level, without getting a serious injury.

"I'm very wary of him"

So you think he's a liar ?
