If Man City somehow come out of this entire case free of charge, I think I’m about done with following any football that’s not us.

Seen today that there are several other clubs(Villa, Newcastle, Chelsea) who are willing to back them in their fight against the PL around revenue streams and revenue from third parties pumped into clubs. I’m sure King power would also love to write a blank cheque for sponsoring their own team (they already wrote off hundreds of millions of debt owed to them, and broke these sponsorship rules once).

These top clubs have flirted with destroying the core of our game already, we already know there are several owners who are for abolishing relegation entirely from the PL, and now they want the freedom to pump in almost unlimited amounts of money and turn the rest of us into feeder teams and “also-rans” for them.

I imagine the European Super League will rear it's ugly head again at some point in the near future as well.
If they try it again, I reckon they should just let them go and hopefully it's a massive failure

I am still trying to figure out what their legal case is, would love to hear from someone who a) has a lot more understanding of what they are claiming than what I am about to say and b) actually slept last night.

So, in my mind, this interlinks with several different aspects of rules and regs - the first being PSR, clubs can post losses of their own money up to £15mil over a three year period, but the owner can plug up to £90mil to bring it up to £105mil losses over a three year period, but the owner cannot incur a debt to the club for plugging that gap. Seems fair to me, and clubs with wealthy owners still have an advantage. APTs - a mechanism to ensure things such as sponsorship deals are at fair market value to ensure owners are not inflating deals with companies owned or associated with them, this was agreed by a majority of Premier League clubs. Again, this seems fair.

Now, the laws. Man City are quoting UK competition laws. To my knowledge, the main law is the Competition Act 1998, of which the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) is the regulator (I am not sure whether they have any jurisdiction here? I know Leicester were fined by them a year or two ago along with JD Sports, but this was merchandise sales, I believe). Man City are claiming they have been discriminated against by tyranny of majority rule, maybe they are claiming the agreement for APT rule changes was some sort of "horizontal agreement", prohibitions I in Competition Act 1998, that they deem is illegal?

Ten Hag to remain at Manchester Utd. A case of there being no-one better to replace him?

Don't get me wrong, there are many problems at Utd, but I doubt Ten Hag is the answer. He's got some of the largest resources on the planet, in football terms

I reckon this is very likely the case, combined with the Cup Final showing the green shoots of recovery. Mind you, Man City were frankly hopeless against a very poor Chelsea in their semi, so they are probably told that the Prem and Champions' League are everything.

Might be some protest's then!
A petition going round against removing concessions or something expecting them to walk to the very back of the stands etc, not sure about kids.

Villa signing Ian Maatsen for £35 million I can just about believe. Chelsea signing a random teenager nobody’s heard of from Villa for nearly £20 million though? Hmmm

Max Kilman from Wolves to West Ham for a mere £40 million. Maidenhead get 10% of that which is brilliant for a Conference club.
Absolute clown fee for Kilman though. Embarrassing.

Kilman was awful against us in the FA cup, madness of the modern game that he goes for £40 million. Another homegrown tax transfer.

West Ham will probably sell them one of the stewards for £20 million now to balance it out

Might have a few quid on Everton to get relegated this coming season
So I was thinking of an accumulator for next season

Arsenal to win the prem
Everton to get relegated
Cov to get promtion
Sunderland to get relegated
Huddersfield to get promoted

Varying odds online ranging up to 231/1

Man Utd are doing some incredible business about to get Ugarte, and maybe Xavi Simons aswell, almost everyone else seems deathly scared of FFP.

Fair play to Ratcliffe, this is the most proactive Man Utd have looked in the summer transfer window for a long time.

People said the same when they signed casemiro, Ronaldo and varane...

As good as Yoro supposedly is they spent a lot of money for an 18 year old CB who has made 50 appearances, a bid that Real Madrid weren't even willing to get near to.

Same with Zirkzee a lot of money for a bit of a gamble in my eyes. Good player on the face of it, but not sure there is immediate success with ether of those signings so far.

I hope i'm wrong would be good to see them competing again would much prefer united success over city success!

Madrid only lowballed them as they were convinced that he was coming to them and his team would have accept or he'd join Madrid next summer for free.

Exactly. Lowballed... Because he only had a year left on his contract... to be paying £60 million for an 18 year old with 50 appearances is beyond a gamble. Along with a £100,000-110,000 per week. They have overpaid, but for their sake hopefully it pays off.

yeah maybe but to overpay slightly is the only way they could of a potentially generational talent a cb.

Yes lowballed, as they and the rest of football as per one of the fellas from the Athletic thought that I quote "his top 3 transfer choices were 1) Real Madrid now, 2 Real Madrid in January or 3 Real Madrid next summer".

Also 100k isn't that much for a player and as i said if that is what it takes to get someone they see as the answer to their CB issues for over a decade then they will see it as a steal. As people often say on here value is only what someone else will pay for the player.

It's not overpay slightly... This is exactly why united have so many issues. Overpay for players and when they don't work out struggle to push them on. Yoro isn't the only CB out there, he is just who they settled on.

100k is a lot of money. For unproven talent. The likes of liverpool and arsenal refuse to do deals like that for a reason. Liverpool were also interested and had arguably the same need for a CB in the next 12 months yet refused to pay so much.

I agree, the signings they are making now are slightly less mental (although still huge gambles!). They spent a combined £100M on a crocked Verane and an ancient Cassimero. They were never getting a return on these players and they were never going to get better, the initial outlay was mental!

Ronaldo, for 20mil actually seemed reasonable business on paper. His ego tho at this point was so swollen it could only end one way... And it did.

Apparently Real wanted to pay £20M for Yoro (I think another club were also in for him at that price), Man Utd got him for £50M! They're still bat shit crazy tho at least there could be room for improvement on all their signings. I think they are still years of a title push.
