My point is how can notts county , having spent nothing ...seemingly put together a squad capable of a playoff challenge .
even swindon have only spent 300k , i mean come on its pittance

Careful that's not a real issue.

Everyone understands that under SISU the 'success' we can achieve in the long term is limited, it's a given and you don't need to state it or keep depressingly jabbering on about it. The fact is with this squad of players Pressley SHOULD be doing MUCH better. The people crying about losing our 'best' players and therefore not ever being able to do anything, are you oblivious to the fact that this happens at every level of football and to the best sides? We HAVE replaced Wilson and co with adequate replacements as this league is of a ridiculously low standard.

Squad good enough to be doing much better? Certainly.

Adequately replaced Wilson? With who?

Nouble, Madine and Jackson in my personal opinion. None of them may currently be on Wilson's level, however for this league they are good enough to replace him. Tbh Madine is technically a much better footballer than Wilson.

Jackson is poor, worse than Stephen Elliot.

Our opinions of Jackson differ, but to bring Lord God Sleeves into the debate is farcical. That brace against MK for deems all the other mediocre performances irrelevant.

I dont know they seem pretty similar ..high work rates not much end product . Again though the service to the strikers this season has been way below what it should be

Your OP is whats lazy. Lets not look at the real issue, lets blame the manager.

That's what you're doing when you ignore the issue of the manager and team and just blame the owners. Criticising Pressley doesn't mean you absolve Sisu of culpability; as woeful as they continue to prove themselves, he shouldn't be getting a free ride when we're doing as poorly as we are either.

Exactly, although Elliot had a much better first touch and movement. Both 'played' in the PL. Both living on past glories, both on the downward spiral of their careers, the resemblance is uncanny.

Watching the MK Highlights and seeing Baker make 4 of Mks 6 goals yesterday shows Pressley made a massive cock up in letting him go! Im sure if u had have said to him Carl you need to take a pay cut..... HE WOULD HAVE..... Yet we get stuck with Jim O'Brien who hasn't got a football brain and can't use his left foot.... But least he runs about and puts a shift in hey.....

Sympathise with the despondency about things atm...as recently as 2yrs ago I felt after watching & reading about the performances - a certain level of optimism. Saying things like "someone is gonna get a spanking off us soon"...but I don't feel any of that anymore.

I disagree on the Walsall comparison - we are on a pretty similar shoestring & they would've been 3 point fewer than us last season after re-applying the 10pt deduction...but we had a stronger squad last season than this IMO. Walsall have some good runs when everyone is fit & available, but low strength in depth.

So all-in-all given where we are with finance & squad, I think 0-0 at home this season against a Walsall side with 11pts from their last 15 including yesterday is a reasonably good result!

I can't see how the man that got us rocking so well for most of last season (we faded towards the end as play-off hopes lessened) can himself be suddenly so poor. So my thoughts would be to let him carry on - save on some severance payouts & spend it on strengthening the squad!!!

Not on Wilsons level but technically better?

Its all well and good ranting "Pressley out" but who would replace him?

People aren't exactly queueing up to take the job on are they?

There's no job vacancy to queue for.

If we didn't have a manager, there would be a host of applicants as there is with any professional club at any time.

Rocking for most of last season??? We were shit apart from a decent run sept/oct.

Hardly a reason to stick by him, because you can't think of anyone to replace him.
If you're happy with him, good luck to you.

But they'd be 30 applicants overnight apparently. The reason they're looking for a job isn't important lets hire one of them anyway. I suppose we could always poach a decent manager from the league below but could SISU afford the compensation package to SP and another club and then hand the new manager a budget to get the players in he wants to set up the team he wants? I doubt it. Also why would a manager in the league below who's doing well so has a chance of promotion take the risk of coming to a club who has a chance of relegation and you end up passing your old club on the way down?

Didn't people say that when Thorn was here? If he went tomorrow there would be a fair few applications.

You realise how petty this is right? There would be applicants because that's how football works and always has. We're not a special case.

I thought it was a straight forward enough line of questioning. You made the point not me. I assumed you would have an answer.

The answer is that there would be plenty of applicants. The evidence is every managerial vacancy that ever happens.

Out of interest when people are calling for the owners to leave are you demanding a list of replacements as proof that they exist too or is it only what suits your agenda at any particular time?

There are foreign managers with better CV's out there we know fuck all about who would jump at a chance of managing in England.
as ajsffcc has said the list would be big if SP went.

id take anyone who has an attacking philosophy , just can't stand this negative sideways shit SP plays.we have to start to put bums back on seats or the club will die slowly

Do we know if his four year deal includes a performance clause which means we can remove him without the need to pay off the rest of his contract? Otherwise I suspect we're going to have to pay out a small fortune to get rid of him.
I spoke to a mate yesterday after the match had finished and he said that at times he'd taken to bidding for random things on Ebay using his phone because he was bored. Considered leaving at half time but didn't want to miss the second half as he'd paid to watch it and hoped it would get better. He said that it didn't and he went home depressed which in turn depressed me. About the only positive for him was we didn't lose and kept a clean sheet.

Put his name forward when Pressley was hired and that's Derek Adams. Sacked by Ross County after a bad start this season but had an excellent record bringing the club up to the top flight and establishing them in it. Still 39, without a club and unlike Pressley didn't go into every game trying to contain the opposition. Well regarded up here.

Not a bad shout.

I'd like to see Graham Alexander come back to his home city ,doubt he's walk away from his current employer though for obvious reasons .

not to sure what his Style Is or whether It would go down well currently ,but a winner In every sense of the word.

Things went a bit pear shaped at Ross Co in the end but Adams got them promoted 2 divisions, got a 40 game unbeaten run under his belt and got attendances up. Did a lot better than Pressley at the same (at the start lower) level. Like SP he would be very motivated but he actually has a bit of managerial ability to go with it. All hypothetical as I think Pressley will be with us for the foreseeable unless relegation looks probable.

Also a good number of managers who've looked promising in Scotland and failed to cut it here...
