If ACL win there case on Tuesday I'm guessing the truth of the story will come out on the same day! But with the court case on Tuesday what can they say?? Yes we have sold it??? If sisu won on Tuesday that would be a little silly I am guessing.....

I have heard the rumours about the sale of the Charity’s shares to Preston Haskell IV. Although we know that he is one of the parties interested in such a purchase, and I have met him at a football match, there is no truth in the rumour. The Charity, as with everyone else looks forward to a time when the ownership of the Club and the stadium is united under owners who can give the Football Club a sustainable future and continue the regeneration of north east Coventry with further development at the Ricoh Arena.

At least 2 people breathe a sigh of relief

why not, it wpuld be great in the summer. he can do what he wants, just do it!

maybe he just wants the ground to bring in American football!!!

I could see a scenario where he might agree to buy out the Higgs Charity stake in the Ricoh if he can buy the club too. But if he buys the half share in ACL before controlling the club, wouldn't Sisu just inflate their sale price because they would know he was already committed to doing a deal? Interesting story, but let's not get carried away just yet.

If there is any truth in it - an awful lot will depend upon the court decision about ACLs forced admin bid IMO. If it goes one way they're laughed out of court & SISU will be the sellers ( or not depending on their want). If it is successful then the administrator is the seller.

This story is clearly gathering momentum as it was just on SSN!!

Hardly gathering momentum, sky just reported the story in the paper- nothing to see here as far as im concerned-dont get your hopes up - it's lazy journalism at its worst!

As PWKH says no truth in the rumour whatsoever.
Regarding Tuesday I think the deduction will come but I also fear there will be a points deduction next season too- the football league will hit the club hard as they did with saints and Luton.

well as PWKH, who is clerk to the trustees of the charity and also a director of ACL, says there is no truth in it then thats good enough for me. You might think he would know wouldn't you. Just a cut and paste article based on what was said early in the week, not happening at least not at the moment

The administrator from Leeds had dealings with him when he enquirer there. It was quite clear from his answers yesterday that this guy won't be buying the club.

Who knows, but I'm pretty sure I remember articles and quotes saying SISU would not buy City in the run up to them acquiring it. Don't believe everything you read Grandad.

Obviously he has been to Coventry and shown an interest or he wouldn't even be talking about us. This report seems to be a reporter has asked something along the lines of, "are you going to buy Coventry City?" and his reply is basically, Coventry is a club that needs a lot of investment and interest put into it but offered no indication of whether he is the man to do it or not. A bit different to Hoffman who I once met and asked the same question and his answer was, "I'm trying".

However, for me in all the underhand tactics revolving around our club in the national press the hope of someone coming in and saving us is all that keeps me going in thinking an end will come to this nightmare.

For a start he can't buy the charity's share-only CCFC Ltd can do that, which means he would need to buy the club, and presumably its holding companies, as well. Bit of a non story in my view.

PWKH said they want a buyer for the club to build on the existing land for development, WHY! ffs this shouldn`t be anything to do with CCFC but for CCC to sort out, the football club needs 100% of the stadium and let someone else deal with the surrounding land, i feel some hidden agenda here about all the surrounding land linked to a CCFC buyer.
With binman Mutton in charge it won`t change though

They want the club to control and have an interest in the development of the area because it will give the club extra income which they will need to finance operations at higher levels. It will also make the club have a better asset base which might be important in future. They are not saying the club do the building etc

- what it gains the club owners is the income from long leases given to hotels, shops etc (guaranteed income that should secure the clubs finances without massive loans from owners or banks)
- the ability to hold better events at the stadium because there will be better travel links and a lot more accommodation available, so more income
- More people in area will lead to more income for the stadium
- might even lead to visitors staying to take in a game, but in any case a vibrant set up will attract others in
- more income for the club from commercial activities means a better budget on the pitch
- better players should equal better results
- better results should equal promotion and higher ticket prices and more income
- more people in stadium equal more F&Bs income

that is the plan they have in mind - and some reasons why development of the site is important from the clubs point of view

Sisu bought Coventry in 2007 when it was a Championship side and the club was relegated last season amidst supporter discontent at its management. The hedge fund is run by Joy Seppala, whose career includes a stint at disgraced US banking firm Drexel Burnham Lambert.

Say no more on Septic Seppala.....
Torchy....Who was the one who said SISU have "Made Mistakes" but deserve a chance?....YOU!......Is Elliott a "Double edged Sword"...or are you "Two Faced"

Spot on. Too much talk about surrounding land and carparks and development. For christ's sake this is about a football club who would be much better off having ownership of their own stadium and nothing else.

Mmm...it's like someone has read the forum and ticked everything off a fans' wishlist:

Elliot back? Check.
20% stake for SBT. Check
Free ice-cream for the kids? Check

I'm still confused though after PWKH said the bloke wasn't in the game. Sounds great, but we've had hopes like this before.

To Stop SISU thinking /Expecting to get a Handout from the Guy maybe. If that Golden Share is still in CCFC LTD then surely someone" This guy" could purchase that share from the Administrator.

If Haskell bought the stadium as a businessman he would run Sisu owned CCFC into the ground before buying it if he thought he'd get a better deal. Sisu better deal with the council that a private sector businessman

That is a fan's view, but the people who might buy the club are businessmen & want an investment not a loss generator. So in fact the future all hinges on the development of whole area, which will be good for Coventry as well as the club.

The structure has to change, but there are going to be lot of twists, turns, lies & tears before it settles down.

Yes businessmen want an investment that gives a return but at what price? If the ground is say £50m to gain control over plus how ever many millions on development of the area. There will never be a return in this guys lifetime.

Seems he is very intrested in the club .. when reading what he is quoted as saying ...

Sorry PWKH. I think you maybe playing the story down. First time I have read Preston talk about Coventry like this to the press! You don't want too much detail out which I completely agree on. But someone has interviewed him and he seems interested.

"Coventry has a fantastic fan base - over 30,000 attended a Johnstone' Paint Trophy game this season - and I want to bring that support back into the club by inviting the supporters trust to take 20% of its shares. I also want to bring Joe Elliott back as Coventry's chairman. He's a man who bleeds Sky Blue and who is furious about what the current owners have done to his club."

I'm inclined to agree with the first part of this - if there were any truth to this, surely PWKH isn't going to confirm it on Page 4 of a thread on Sky Blues Talk? And no, I'm not saying he's lying, I'm merely pointing out that if this were true it would probably not be confirmed on here before a statement was issued to the press.

However, I'm still skeptical that there was any interview. I just find the concept of Haskell talking to anyone at this stage difficult to believe. Hope my skepticism is wrong, personally.

I'd be okay with it, only....and I want to make this perfectly clear, only if I can still lick SISU's arse.
