Interesting to get everyones opinion. Of the signings we have made since the play off final, which ones do you think we will turn a profit on when they leave? Not necessarily about whether we think they are a good player.
We could have on Simms, if rumours are correct, but chose not to.
This Is part of the problem in my book.
I think King is signing players based on increasing their value and moving them on with little thought to how they can advance us as,a team.
I think his head was turned by the Vik and Hamer sales which were the exception rather than the rule.
It's fine using that as a model, but you still have to supplement you squad with signings that won't have sell on value but will bolster your squad, loans, over 30s etc.
I think you are right but I'm more worried that may not see a return for some
Brentford?Really, from where? I think he could do ok elsewhere if he can have it laid on a plate for him
Brentford?
Maybe Bournemouth after selling Solanke to TottenhamReally, from where? I think he could do ok elsewhere if he can have it laid on a plate for him
At the end of last season I was confident we could turn a profit on Wright, Simms, Sakamoto, Milan. In fact the only player I the thought we’d struggle to break even on is Kitching.
If this season’s dross continues it’s impossible to know really. But I still think those four players I named were good signings.
Think we will make a profit on Van Erwijk and possibly Dovin, Rudoni and Bassette. Think we will break even on some others. Cannot imagine anyone paying close to £9m for Wright.
Not really sure, didn't really shine today,if that carries on ll.Definitely MVE
It was £7.7m. If he’d continued last season’s form he’d easily be worth that.Think we will make a profit on Van Erwijk and possibly Dovin, Rudoni and Bassette. Think we will break even on some others. Cannot imagine anyone paying close to £9m for Wright.

Completely agree, I was talking about this with my old man today, when you look back it was a no-brainer for King to buy us and sell Gyokeres and Hamer. Easy £35 mil in the bank for him, then just buys a load of players with that cash so he can then make a decent return when he sells them.
I’m not saying King is a bad owner, he’s obviously improved training facilities and brought in extra coaches etc but I do wonder how much King genuinely cares about the future of the club, i.e. buying Bassette when we clearly needed a midfielder. If it all starts going tits up then he could sell whatever players he likes knowing that he’s going to make a massive profit for whatever he bought the club for. Sheaf, Van Ewijk, Haji, Simms, Eccles, Sakamoto have got to be worth at least £60 mil combined (not that he’d sell the whole lot in one go, I’m just giving that as an example).
King wouldn’t have decided we wanted Bassette he would have been presented with the request to buy him from the recruitment team and the management team. All he would do is sanction the purchase.Completely agree, I was talking about this with my old man today, when you look back it was a no-brainer for King to buy us and sell Gyokeres and Hamer. Doesn't your argument hinge on knowing "...whatever he bought the club for." I give up.I’m genuinely not sure tbf, wasn’t there a rumour it was for £1? But surely not? Either way I’d be very surprised if King couldn’t sell 3-4 assets and make a decent amount of cash out of the whole enterprise (not saying he will but it’s surely something King would have considered before venturing into buying us).
Of course he will make the final decision but how do you know he made that decision over buying a midfielder, that’s pure speculation.?Yeah fair enough but he’s the one that made the final decision to buy Bassette over a midfielder, and I’m sure the numerous coaches we now have would’ve been saying we need a midfielder or two rather than an extra striker.
The onus is on King to give the manager the right tools to get results, the fact he chose to go for the potential cash return in Bassette rather than a midfield player that we desperately needed makes me wonder how committed to our club he is.
Never get 45 million for Sheaf
If the players aren’t following simple instructions, it’s down to issues they have with the manager/coaches.So much is right at the club at the moment. The whole ethos of the set up hasn’t fallen away altogether. Almost everything has improved apart from the performances and attitude on the pitch but even then the Spurs game showed they can be better.
Something is amiss with the coaching, set up and morale of the squad…..But why ??
Of course he will make the final decision but how do you know he made that decision over buying a midfielder, that’s pure speculation.?
King will always argue he gives the manager the right tools in that he provides a budget and strategy to work to. The manager agrees to the task it then his job to the implement it.
There is no evidence to say and certainly no fact to say he chose to go for the potential cash return on Bassette rather than a midfielder.
Buying Bassette and any young player is part of their overall strategy of buying young developing them then selling for a profit some it works on others it doesn’t.
