He's a promising young winger who has the potential to be very good. He's the 4th choice on the wings at the moment and we will sign other players and the FA cup final has even happened yet.

Anyone whinging needs to chill their tits.
based on...?

I'm just saying, this is either a miracle from the recruitment department or he simply won't be up to scratch.

And we need 4 good quality wingers in the squad if we're going to be successful, one of our biggest downfalls last season.

He's not tearing up the Australian league, which is a poor standard of football.

His underlying stats aren't very good

He's 20, not 18.

He was let go by Melbourne (CFG).

Just can't see it personally. I'll be happy to be proved wrong.
Tavares is older than simms and only just got to a decent level. Give him a chance before blindly slagging him off

You'd have to say based on the fact coventry city , a promotion chasing championship team signed him

Probably based on the fact we have signed him, Cam

Aren't you usually a reasonable poster? Give it a rest, he probably cost about 100k and had attributes we think we can work on, I doubt he was signed just for a laugh.

He is a regular championship squad player. That is a decent level
Come off it, he's made 5 league appearances this season.

I like Tavares but being realistic he's very unlikely to make it here and should probably drop down a league or two.

It's the fact he's come from Australia that's throwing me off, not like we've just taken a punt on someone from league 2 or something. Like I said, you have to think he's been told he'll have a decent role to play here.

People moaned that we were not doing any business a week ago, we do some business and people moan it is not the right type of business. We really came unstuck with a lack of depth last season when we came into the final quarter. I am sure he has been signed to add depth and to continue to progress. Hyam was the exact same in League Two and ended up as a pretty good player for Coventry all told. Lets just buckle in and enjoy the ride as we have done every season with Robins

For the money they obviously weighed it up and think he's worth the punt. I think this season, based on nothing tbf, we'll see him getting cup games and the occasional sub minutes.

But you have made that opinion based on how many years of his development? I genuinely have no clue what you have against this signing or your weak argument to justify it

“Rapha has some great attributes and a willingness to work and learn, and I’m sure we will enjoy his development during his time with us.”

He's clearly been brought in as a development project and will be dipped in and out of the first squad and u23s as the coaches see fit. Good luck to the lad.

Who's pissed in your can of fosters...

Complaining about signing a young player this early in the window, for no doubt a nominal fee, showing we are scouting the entirety of the world.... Absolute proof people will moan about anything. Really boring.
Just saying, this signing is probably costing us £1m+ in fee+wages and I can't see much coming from it.

Club will have the scouting data , the player will have the attributes that the club believe they can work on to make him into a top player at this level and possibly beyond .

Probably paid no more than 250k .

Let the club do their work

I was once really excited we were spending big money on Freddie Eastwood, and well that turned out how it did. Since then I've learnt spend and cost doesn't dictate the quality of a player, or more specifically, how that player shall be for us.

Give them a chance, be excited we've made a signing so early in the window, and enjoy the bank Holiday weekend.

Kuol cost Newcastle £300k. A-League transfers are tiny. £250k would be absolute tops.
