Recruitment has been shocking (8 Viewers)

Something irritates me is Robins said on Monday that Yamamoto and Wright were struggling to settle. If we were really careful with our recruiting why did we take a chance on oversees players and not UK based players. It just increased the risk of failure and we’re seeing it certainly with Wright.

I know there’s a risk with uk based signings but homesick must be bottom of the list right?

We don’t help ourselves do we?

Because if we restrict ourselves to UK based players only then we're missing out on a huge pool of talent i.e. the whole fucking planet, that everyone else is tapping into.

Of course we should explore all avenues, but you have to take into account that risk of bringing in overseas players and whether they might adapt and factor it into the fee you're willing to pay. That's why nearly £8m on Wright was just way too much as there is always that chance he won't settle down. For us to spend that much on a single player we're going to be heavily reliant on them having a big impact and you have to sign someone with some pedigree at this level..

it seemed all the focus was on selling him as we hadn’t done anything until he left and that was 2 months after the play off final. We didn’t know what our budget was. Left us 6 weeks to get cracking but everyone knew we had money that’s why the prices for simms Wright and kitchen are laughable. Ayari was a gamble replacment for Hamer and we’ve banked that money. All a mess.
It was said that we’d been looking at Wright prior to the play-off final.

I'm quite alright, unlike you whining over some signings after a dozen games. Get a grip of yourself.
Listen I'm not on here to listen to you constantly looking for posters to insult.

What you certainly don't like is when people give you back what you dish out like i did earlier. You start arguing with people and insulting but given back you rant, probably get all sweaty & angry and repeat the insults. You simply can't debate. If you don't like what's being said on here then stop posting.

Your an invisible warrior that can't debate things. Pack it in and try and be mature and stop the insulting of people posting on here simply because they don't share your opinions. I've gave it you back earlier on an different post which is out of character and wont be happening again.

You wont like it now as i've told you what a lot of other posters think about your standard of discussion. Try and get along with people.

I wont be responding so don't start the insults again.

Vik decided on Sporting Lisbon last January...Doug King did a fantastic job getting the deal done to the clubs best advantage,we will pocket another decent amount in the summer when Vik moves to a top European club (Dortmund would be my guess).
On the recruitment front it's entirely down to Mark Robins, he's got his mate a job as head of recruitment but he gives the nod on every single signing.
Vik decided on Sporting Lisbon the very moment he saw Dabo walking towards the penalty spot at Wembley.

In defence of the recruitment policy (ducks for cover) we didn’t know until later than most other teams which division we’d be in. I think MR alluded to “two lists” and by the time we knew we’d be shopping for the Champ and losing our best players (probably) many of the players on the list might have been snapped up.

MVE might have been on both lists but other than that I can’t see many others.

Dortmund can't afford him. Their record signing was only £30m odd.

To be honest, Wright looks like the dud out of all of them; Thomas is rough, but is still developing: Tatsu is a useful utility player: Simms probably will get more goals if there’s an ounce of creativity behind him: Kitching has potential: MVE has bags of ability, but maybe his attitude is questionable: Lati is a solid player, and versatile: Binks is a steady presence, but is still learning.
DaSilva, not sure, if I’m honest.

When we get COH up to speed, and get Allen in with him, we should see a difference. Then, there’s the issue of a Hamer replacement, a back up RWB, and another forward, I’d say. Preferably one who has a bit more mobility, strength and presence than what we have.

Edit: I forgot Ayari. lol Needs to get himself a loan at a L1 club, in fairness. He’s not what we need.

What evidence is there of MvE having an attitude problem? The things I read on here!!

I am not sure Wright is a dud. It might not work out but I think there is a player in there, but clearly I am in a minority.

I'll admit i thought when we signed MvE he was a lightening fast winger that would leave defenders for dead. Not seen much evidence of that so far.

I think MVE has done ok especially when playing alongside Allen.

Allen, for his shortcomings, can run toward the flank and be on hand for a give-and-go.

MVE often has to check back because there’s no one there to offset to.

Simms is also culpable, he needs to get wide quickly and pull the central defenders at the same time.

Look back at last year and previously, Cal and Allen used to get wide, pull defenders, create space, give and go. Gyok the same further forward.

Sheaf sits central, that’s his role. Eccles and Tats or whoever makes up the mid 3 aren’t pulling wide quickly.

MVE will be far more effective when Cal and Jamie play.

I'm not the one making silly posts about waiting in my car to drive Hadji (sic) to the airport.
