It's an awkward one, Johnson when he's been on the pitch has always been the most committed player in the way he plays the game and he's a massive player when on the pitch as displayed by our results, we haven't even won a game without Reda in the team. If it was like Barton or Thomas he was angry with it would be much easier to just say he's shit and bin him off but with Johnson we can't do that because we need him.

Cast our minds back. Go look at the video again of SP's press conference. Just remember how angry he was and how he was spitting blood. The guy was incandescent with rage.

This had to be so much more than just non-hydration or preparation. Think Reda is downplaying it. Would guess that it was so much more to do with how little that Worcester defeat hurt those 3 players more than anything else. Like the whole thing was a bit of a joke losing to a non-league side.

Ipswich clearly don't want him as they allowed him to play in the cup and Pressley is trying his best to make sure he doesn't want to come here either.

Nottingham forest clearly didn't want McGoldrick, but he didn't stay following the end of his loan spell. If Pressley didn't want him or Johnson they wouldn't be playing, and nouble would have been sent back to ipswich ala coulibaly. If nouble scores 2-3 more in the next few games someone like Blackpool will try and get him on a loan. They'll offer ipswich a better loan fee and fund a higher % of his wages.

No, publically criticising players is not tthe best way of motivating them. IIRC, Pressley's comments was on cwr after the game Plymouth game(?) when nouble came off the bench and he was asked why. If he had already had the conversation with nouble I don't see the big issue. It's hardly Harry Rednapp-Taarabt scenario. Other top managers have also criticised players for example Mourinho (http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/sep/20/chelsea-jose-mourinho-juan-mata). No I'm not implying Pressley is a good manager

Tbh I couldn't really care what he does other than the 90 minutes when he plays for us every week and I can't fault his commitment anytime he has played for us.

It's not just once incident though is it though, if it was just a one off Nouble it could just be brushed off as a bump

We had it all last year, absolute fiasco with Manset, Slager, Urqhart, Seaborne, Donelly, Akpom all came under Pressley and either payed off there contract or sent back early, probably more.

Then we've got the players already here who Pressley has tried to frozen out, we had the bomb squad when he came in and since he's also gotten rid of Adams, Baker, Clarke and attempted to freeze out Barton.

Then we've got this seasons signings, Coulibaly already gone. Tudgay and Jackson frozen out by the looks of it and Miller available for loan, problems with Nouble, Johnson and possible Clarke earlier in the season. Took the captaincy off Baker, gave it to Johnson and now taken off him.

Its not that I disagree with all those decisions but the manner and way he goes about it is looking worrying, Pressley has shown himself to be a disloyal manager and having a fractured relationship with players. It doesn't promote a good team spirit or positive environment to work in which in turn affects the players performances and work rates.

He's been quite fortunate in the players he's taken on in the past have all been fringe players or not at the club for very long.

I'm wondering if some of the players didn't take kindly to his treatment of Baker and Adams in the summer, if he goes up against Johnson and Nouble who seem popular in the dressing room he risks decimating team spirit even further.

It's no wonder Pressley likes bringing through the youngsters, there just grateful for the opportunity so no problems with them, looks like to get along with this manager you either have to be Scottish or under the age of 21. What was it Barton said earlier in the season to describe there relationship, we don't really talk but we don't hate each other either or something like that. Fantastic!

Johnson is trying for a move elsewhere, I think he'll be gone in January. I'd be fuming if I was SP at his comments trivialising serious issues.....

- He got sent off in a ridiculous incident
- he hasn't been committed enough to play as many games as he could
- he doesn't look after himself or his body to give his best performances on the pitch
- he is pissing around in the dressing room after the worst defeat in our history (after missing a pen he never should have took!)
- now he is talking to the press trying to play it down and trivialise it

I think he is talking his way to a move in these type of comments. If we could get a fee I reckon he's a gonner...

I wasn't talking about the incident,my post was talking about Nouble. He didn't name anyone in the rant but

He took the next available opportunity to criticise Nouble effort and commitment, done the same with Reda after the Notts County game and in the lead up to Colchester.

I would suggest having a good positive relationship with current and past players would be a better way of getting the best out of players, read my rant in post #43 to see more detail of how poor Pressleys relationships with players have been.

You've missed the point, I don't rate Barton either, still don't really. I thought it was time for Baker to move on, Manset/Slager wasn't very good. I was taking about Jordan Clarke not Leon, bomb squad then reinstated, now shipped out and rumours that a confrontation caused the move.

As I wrote in the post, it's not the decisions I have a problem with (well some but not all), more the way they are handled. I just think it's concerning the way Pressley treats his players, comes across as disloyal. I know if I was a player I'd think twice about signing for Pressley knowing I could be frozen out within a month if I don't impress early on.

If any of them are disrespectful, in the sense of not working exactly to the agreed plan, but are nonetheless proving themselves of value to me (given the resource constraints), I'm happy to go with the flow until they are of less value to me than is worth the trouble. I don't need them to respect me or my professional opinion.

Still, Pressley's at the start of his managerial career rather than, like me, moving towards the end of it; so I guess he'll learn.

I hear what you are saying, but that only works if your employee is delivering results. Johnson had finished 9 out of 22 games, which cannot be considered good enough. I also don't know any managers who would accept being undermined by a team leader who is supposed to lead by example....

Hydration is massive in injury prevention for example, your captain isn't professional enough to monitor his hydration levels and keeps having to miss games through injury. I know what i'd do! Different story if he appears dehydrated, but has played every game and has no injury issues...

Totally agree. I'm stunned at the unprofessionalism shown by Johnson in that interview. He's essentially gone public on-and tried to play down-a dressing room incident. Whether it was "just a smile" or not, by describing it as such and by failing to appreciate the seriousness of one of the worst defeats in the clubs history, he is well and truly taking the piss (pun intended). I'd be inclined to say bomb him out if he wasn't so vital to the team. He certainly isn't captaincy material setting this kind of example for youngsters. What a selfish, egotistical, knob.

What I find interesting in this is the fact that we are talking about this at all. Reda should represent his managers and his ethics I want players to be pissed off when they lose especially in the manner that they did against Worceste. I think Reda was committed enough in that game as I saw him wince several times after heading the ball. He must be a leader both on and off the pitch.
Now for the reasons I post why are they talking about this now? Is it because Reda wants a move? Or is it because he has been briefed to cause shit because the players want Pressley out? I think that there is double standards here yes Pressley started it at the press conference but now it looks like Reda is going to finish it one way or another.
