Ref again (5 Viewers)

I'd like to see the Simms one again, anyone got a clip? I was certain at the time it should have been a penalty. I don't see how grabbing around the neck is ever a justifiable challenge.

Wright was being held for sure but it's all about action & consequence - was that sufficient reason for him to go down? Not really, no. Not sure why people think Haji should have been booked though?

Think the logic was “if you’ve given it against him for diving you need to book him”. It wasn’t a dive, I couldn’t really see but had assumed there was some other infringement so the handball on the floor makes sense.

I think the issue is now the linesmen , they are certainly no longer assistant referees

2 things yesterday
1) The corner kick thing, the linesman could clearly see where the ball was in relation to the quadrant, but didnt tell the ref happened twice, the 1st one was ok, the 2nd the ref didnt go over, and was then outside
2) one of their players was given offside by the ref from 30 yards, when the linesman looking along the line didnt give it

its been the same for a long time now, they are generally very very poor

A lot of misunderstanding around this. Since the introduction of headsets they are in constant communication with the referee. They don't immediately flag something as they speak to the referee first, much better that than one give one decision & one another - we've all seen how embarrassing that is.

I definitely think refs need help with the big decisions, although I hate the long delays you get with VAR. But better a delay than a wrong decision I guess.
I think and fear it's going to be the future, but worse than that,a fully operational automated algorithm or something like that.
