Will be interesting how he handles the pushing and grappling on Gyo, if Vik is smart he could get the Luton CBs in the book early.

(Had to be done 😂)

What did we think? Top referee, VAR, a little taste of the good life?

Would like Adges view or similar on all the holding, shirt pulling, etc from Luton today. I don’t believe he missed it as it was blatant as anything, particularly their tactic of having one man block/wrestle the opponent while someone else gets the ball. Is this stuff allowed? Am I just being sore for thinking it happens more than it does? Really surprised how much shithousing they got away with with such an experienced ref. Are we just too nice?

If we want to get out of this division it's time we learn and implement some of the dark arts and shithousing ourselves next season. We should also look to recruiting some tall, physical yet mobile players like your Lutons, Millwalls and Prestons have been doing. We need to not only play with finesse like we've been doing, but also be able to mix it up and not be pushovers or bullied by physical teams.

Honestly, I’d rather stay in this division than become another bog standard shite football Championship side like those you mention.

I really don't intend on ever becoming Milwall or Preston tbh

Was shocked how poor Oliver was or is it they just wait for var to correct them, then haven’t watched the game back and probably never will.

1 The handball goal seemed blatant at the time.
2 Their no 11 seemed to have nine lives he blocked a Wilson goal kick I think he handled it for one of the disallowed goals and just seemed to foul anybody near him.
3 Vik blatantly blocked off when chasing a ball into the corner
4 Time wasting worse than ever and just greeted with a little wave to their keeper (booking is a waste of time it’s time for indirect free kicks to be given)

I thought he was ok today. Allowed the game to flow where he could, didn't make it about him and kept his cards in his pocket as much as he could. In fairness not loads going on and apart from the occasion not a difficult game to ref with no real controversial calls, but we've had much worse this past season.

I didn't say become them, but we may need to adopt some of the tactics (while retaining the way we play) these physically intimidating teams use and not be so soft.

there was definitely a few fouls on Vik. Luton’s players weren’t even attempting to get the ball, just blocking him. It was more blatant in the first half when we only had Vik upfront, if the ref had stamped it out early it may have been a different game. A few of their long balls up came from Vik being blocked and then booting it back up.

While obviously supporting our team-as a referee we keep half an eye on who is in the middle and I must say that Mr Oliver is the best and that was evident yesterday. Never more than 5-10 yards from the play when decisions need to be made. Only one I didn’t get was when Wilson was about to release the ball and was fouled-now that is usually a mandatory yellow card. 🤔

One of the worst in a long time. His officials were as bad if not worse. Should have been about 9/10 minutes of stoppage time.

Don't normally moan about referees but he was awful today. So many poor decisions, the constant time wasting by the Norwich keeper. Should have been at least 8 mins added time. It looked as though he told his linesmen they weren't allowed to make a decision.

Did he let the Norwich player have a drink by the goal and hold up play for it ?

When he gave Norwich a foul for a nudge 45 seconds after Sakamoto was pushed back to Japan was mind-blowing.

Did he just assume Sakamoto was trying to dive every time he had the ball?

That was the worst refereeing performance I've seen in a long time.

He lost control early and never regained it. Every niggly foul on the break was unpunished, he allowed them to stop all momentum at every opportunity and offered no protection to Tats or Ayari.

An absolutely abysmal showing.

Multiple times Saka’s legs were cleanly swept away and nothing was given. Should really be putting in a complaint about him given he has clearly ignored the directive on added time.
You get some inconsistency and officials have a tough job but I would be disappointed if the club didn’t lodge some kind of complaint regarding the complete disregard for time wasting as that’s been where they’ve been instructed to improve things this season.

In the prem it’s been highly effective, virtually no time wasting. Today was as bad as I’ve ever seen.

You can always argue away split second decisions, but time added on is quite different. He’s ignored the rules and someone will surely be having a word.

He helped to ruin the game gave them every shove in the back yet none for their players doing exactly the same gave one for shirt pulling but must have missed 20!
Shocking absolutely shocking.

I’ve seen worse refs, but it was when Sakamoto got cut in half by two of their players on the touch line and was given nothing, and then 20 seconds later wright basically tickled their defender and he went down and got a free kick.
Wasn’t even a push, just hands/fingers on the back.

Eccles got a yellow for a foul and then the same thing happens against us on touchline and no yellow.

inconsistency at it’s worst.

His timekeeping was astoundingly poor. Only 2 minutes in the 1st half when Rowe took longer than that on his own to get back to the restart after scoring, and only 4 minutes in the 2nd half when Gunn in particular was time wasting throughout and every sub ambled off at tortoise pace. Ridiculous!

Usually as an official I can see why they give certain decisions based on “what they have seen” which is 99% of the time. I’m sorry though that I can’t offer an “excuse” on why there was only a minimum of only 4 minutes added on time which was clearly nowhere near enough added time.

My favourite was when their player mad a point of ‘tripping’ over Fadz who been bundled ro the floor after our corner. We were recycling the ball half way in their half and he gave them a free kick. The ball was 40 yards away and their player made a point of doing it deliberately.
Bloke was an absolute clown yesterday.

If it's the one I'm thinking of near the end, Fadz definitely got up and moved his body into the Norwich player to bring him down. Doesn't excuse the performance of the referee, though.
