Kept coming off his line to talk to him after being told not to
There was another player who took ages to leave the penalty area & delayed the kick further as he was still standing inside. I'm surprised the referee didn't book him as well

Yep and after the game he was talking to the ref and the yellow card was shown again
I didn't see that. I've checked BBC info on game and no mention of 2nd yellow but then according to it Cardiff no 3 wasn't booked but I'm sure he was for contesting penalty 🤔

But quite often you’ll have players that are in no way medically trained basically self-certifying that they are fit. That’s no good to anyone. I seem to recall after O’Hare did his ACL he tried running it off.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s a loophole that needs closing but it ain’t easy. One thought was that you let the physio enter the field of play during play, like in rugby, but I feel football moves too quickly for that to be worthwhile.
ACLs are a funny one, they settle down after the initial issue and actually feel OK. I think the same thing happened to Rodri with his.

The physios should be able to check this and diagnose pitch side (I think this is correct, whatever checks they do will detect an abnormal range of movement in the joint).

Anyone want to praise yesterday’s ref for the excellent decision to come back for a free kick to us after a foul and the ball squirmed through to a player in an offside position?

Seemed absolute common sense. And therefore almost certainly wrong.

He also got the Cardiff goal right - no interference with the keeper, and obvs the penalty (after a good while).

Norm was actually playing their striker in front of Collins onside. Would have been a decision to make if he'd have stepped out.

Poor from Norm really as he's in no-man's land. Poor from each of the 11 players in this one pic TBH!

Arblaster did same in the Sheffield derby. Went down looking like it was an ACL, and he carried on until half time - now he’s out for season.

Forgot to say at the start of this season there was a push for physio only coming on the pitch when the player couldn’t just get on with it. I think this aspect has made a positive difference but there’s a particular problem in that a game can’t carry on without them so it needs a different solution

What was then supposed to happen was for the physio to make a quick judgement on what treatment is required and then for that treatment to happen off the pitch. This just hasn’t happened. Refs have made sure people stay off the pitch for 30 seconds after a break in play.

In grassroots where it’s rolling subs this works but in the professional game it just hasn’t worked or even been done probably cause it’s a huge advantage to play with an extra man

I think the idea was sound
I understand why it’s not been done
I would like it to be tried again

I appreciate I might be looking at this with Sky Blue specs but to me their forwards left foot looks closer to the goal line than Bassette's feet. Would like to see a side on angle ideally!

The belief within IFAB now is that the punishment of an indirect free-kick in the area is too harsh.
Think that’s accurate
Corner would be good to trial
Although if the stats are still as they were
You are slightly more likely to concede from a corner than score from it so that’s a thing

Looked pretty good shouts to me and was very surprised none were given.
Shouts yes, they could have been given I guess.

The one against Bidwell was particularly weak IMO, their player seemed to run across Bidwell before falling on the ball (this is the only pen shout that the Millwall coms mentioned).

I think the other shout must have been against MvE(?), the lad they bought on at LW/LM got in behind, there was a coming together and the kid went down by the dead ball line. This looked like it could have been a foul actually but again had the air of a coming together (haven't seen a replay so could we miles off).

The goal that was disallowed was a joke of a decision!

Funny the Milwall forum is slating him. They are saying the disallowed goal should have stood and they had a stonewall pen turned down
I thought both pen appeals were decent shouts, the Milan one was very similar to the one Tats gave away against Luton. The other one Bidwell went through the back of his legs.

I hadnt spotted Norm there. A picture from the side would be helpful to make sure no “scoring” part of the player in front of Collins was offside.

Theres clear interference in the sight line.

Whatmore?
A pathetic attempt at influencing the ref.
