I like things like that.

It's exactly my point about religion. You get religions and organised groups saying the Bible or the Quran IS the word of God, but then so many just cherry pick the bits they want from within it, ignoring other parts completely.

I went out with an Evangelist for 4 months and even went to church with her. Everything was about the four gospels and the four gospels pretty much alone. Nothing else.Everything else was brushed over.

At some point someone somewhere cherry picked the bits of the Bible they liked the best.

It was a bit like a big brother, ten people spending ten days together in a house
It wasn't so much about any Cherry picking more the difference in Interpretation to the absolute dogmatic adherence of the most extreme view.
The opening is quite amusing, the differentials largely formed between the sexes.
Anyway don't wish to spoil your viewing. :)

Don't worry, Coventry City will do that tonight.

The poor child's Dad has obviously not seen "The Guru"

"South Asian Ramu Gupta has always been fascinated with western movie musicals and has wanted to be an American movie star primarily as a dancer. So when he hears from his friend Vijay Rao about his fabulous life in Manhattan with a penthouse apartment and Mercedes, Ramu decides to move from his home in Delhi to the US to live with Vijay as he pursues his dream of being a star. Upon his arrival in Manhattan, Ramu learns that Vijay's life is nothing like he mentioned, he driving a cab and living in a run down cramped top floor apartment with two fellow South Asian roommates, Ramu who would be the fourth in the apartment. Ramu nonetheless just wants a chance to prove himself in the entertainment business. Among Ramu's many missteps include stumbling into the porn movie business where he can't get it up in such a setting anyway, and working as a waiter at least to earn some money. But it is a wait job at a private South Asian themed birthday party for a lost and directionless socialite named Lexi organized by her overbearing mother Chantal that Ramu gets a chance at a somewhat legitimate acting job when he is asked to fill-in at the last minute at the party for an incapacitated Swami Bu. Having no credentials as a swami, he decides to dance and channel the sex advice given to him by Sharonna, one of his porn co-stars. Ramu and the information are a hit, especially with Lexi, who feels she has found her own voice for the first time in her life. As such, she wants to help Ramu spread the swami word, most specifically as a sex guru, to the masses. Not knowing what that word is, Ramu again turns to Sharonna for advice, she in turn believing he is asking solely to further his career in porn. Sharonna agrees to mentor him on the condition that he not divulge what she would teach and tell him to anyone as they are her innermost thoughts as a way to cope with her own life. That life is a double one, where her firefighter fiancé Rusty, a devout Catholic, knows nothing about her being a porn star, believing she is just Shari, an innocent (i.e. virginal) substitute public school teacher. As Ramu becomes more and more successful in this pseudo acting job with the help of both Sharonna and Lexi, he has to reconcile this success with the fact that it is all a lie. He also has to reconcile it with his burgeoning romantic feelings for Sharonna, most specifically reconciling the fact that he has not only lied to her, but betrayed her confidence."

You forgot to put the word 'religious' in front of white British parents, you are the first person to bring skin colour into this argument and you are an educator for a living? Perhaps you should spend less time trying to create 'straw man' arguments and concentrate more on the School Standards and Frameworks act 1998 and help those who don't believe, kids who don't want to have to put up with, and be ridiculed by others who believe this
religious bullshit on a daily basis.

No, they tend to not be religious, at least seriously. They'd probably class themselves as Catholic or CofE though, but that's true of most British people.

Nice try with the concern trolling, but I've met far too many like you to be fooled by it "Oh the nasty Muslims!" - "Racist" - "Oh, Islam isn't a race! Got you there!"

Fuck off bigot.

Never was a truer sentence composed.
And I would add someone even cherry-picked the books to put in the bible; many were excluded.

Am I only a racist when I disagree with Islam or would you call me a racist for questioning scientology, christianity and dianetics?

As far as your desperate, ad hominem attempt at undermining my argument by trying to call me a 'concern troll' ???? I have fought long and hard to have all 3 of my children withdrawn from religious education and all acts of collective worship in school, I have also helped many other parents to do this.

My 13 year old Daughter was called a racist a bigot and threatened with violence by her class mates for not partaking in r.e and daring to have the opinion that she doesn't "believe" (acts of which you seem to approve).

And I have had to deal with your type many times before, form tutors, year heads, head masters, and I have always won, because I have the law on my side (school standards and frameworks act 1998)

You sir are the bigot.

I don’t know if God exists, but it would be better for His reputation if He didn’t.

I don't know anything about religion and don't care about anyone's views on it and if a conversation was started about anything on it of any form I would walk away . Find it very strange that people are so into something which is obviously made up, and the most evil things that go with it in the world, No thanks

Edit did watch two nun lesbians online recently and I was quite into that though

Edit. One way to look at it is that it's his son so?
Another the guys a dick?
People are strange religion or not

See what I mean about religion. As soon as anyone starts talking about it, it causes conflict and hatred. It's one of the curses of mankind.

Out of interest, are you an 'Evolution-ist'? God is GOD, He is not answerable to your human bitterness and indifference. Big fan of Dawkins, by any chance?

The biggest rift between us and God, is that people are indoctrined into a society, a belief-system, and a form of passive slavery - this in turn makes God questionable I.E. ''Oh why would God let us be without money, oh my mortgage is due, why does God let African babies die'' Why does the rich, the Elite, the Banksters and the ruling classes ALLOW a great proportion of this worldwide population live in misery, illness, depression and poverty?!?!

The Queen alone is worth £350 TRILLION. The Rothschilds are worth even MORE. They are the ones who deserve our scorn and anger, NOT God. God is there, God is not going anywhere, and will reward those who put their hearts in His hands.

Sorry to rant, it wasn't generally at you, it just slipped out.

Even if you felt persecuted in your own country and travelled through several safe countries to get there? ;)
And end up in Cov which apparently is in the top 10 most roughest places in Europe.

1, The Queen is worth only a fraction of what you say. Even if you put it down to billions you would be nowhere near.

2, How many gods are there?

3, If there is only one why can't they share him?

4, If religion is all about peace and understanding why are most wars caused by it?

The issue that I have religion that it is a man made concept that was utilised by those with wealth and power to control and strike fear into the masses. It is responsible for inflicting misery on billions, whether directly or indirectly, and compels normal men and women to perform bizarre and barbaric rituals still even to this day. Oh, it is also mostly geared up towards men as well.

As well, with all of the advances of science, you must have a lot of faith to still believe.

Come off it SB.

God made the earth. But he didn't put man on it for billions of years. He thought he would try dinosaurs first.

1. No she isn't, mate. She's also the largest land-owner in the world, seconded only by The Vatican.

2. One God, One Creator. I can see where this is going, seriously, and since I actually like you, I won't be goaded into an argument.

3. This doesn't make sense to me, however everyone has a path to God, through the 'blood' of Jesus Christ. Islam hails Jesus as the Messiah, so that narrows it down, doesn't it?

4. Like I posted elsewhere, to the acceptance of many, war is created as a tool of money-making and to create hatred amongst race groups; we are all subservient to a powerful Elite, like it or not. ALL religions have their more aggressive and 'militant' extremist factions, and it's these factions that tar ALL religion with the 'war starting' brush. What you see on TV and the news is propaganda. There's far more to it that what you are SHOWN, so with some research, you'll see what I mean.

Example: have you seen those heart-rending adverts on TV, asking for donations for the people of Yemen? Do you know WHO bombed the shit out of Yemen in the first place, to get their government to secretly surrender? America.

All true religious doctrines are peaceful and harmonious at their core. Orthodox-ism, I call it.

The enemy is not religion. It's those who work in shadows and make the decisions that divide us and lead us astray. Like I mentioned earlier, I shan't be goaded into a religious argument/slanging match by anyone, because it's not conducive to who I am.

Religion was altered and re-doctrinated to serve an agenda of conflict and hatred. This began a very long time ago.

The savage rituals you speak definitely do still exist, sadly, however these people are not indoctrinated into an Orthodox, peaceful, respectful branch of religion.

Every creative person experiments first, as a test run, so to speak. ;-)

The queen is worth about 9.4 billion. The royal family all together about 58 billion. The richest woman in the world is worth 44 billion.

Years ago we used to get stoned to the bone. Then the debates would start. And religion was the big one. No two people had the same full beliefs. But however heated it got there were two things that stopped it getting violent.

1 We were all good mates.

2 We were normally too stoned to do anything

Religion has always changed. I know someone who has an old bible. It is now about 150 years old. He reads part of it most days. He won't read a more recent one as it has vastly changed to the one he has.

Well, some things we'll have to agree to disagree on, mate.

Like Bill Hicks once said: "I've never seen anyone get into a fight on Pot, it's fucking IMPOSSIBLE" Very true, and before Weed started cabbaging my noggin, I used to engage in the same sorts of debates with my circle of college friends. It'd get heated and then the giggles would start. :)

Absolutely, he probably reads the King James Version, like myself. There's more varieties of Bibles these days than there is types of coffee in Starbucks, it's mad. And yes, the modern ones tend to re-word the scriptures in a way that diminishes their value, a bit.

Yep, that happened a lot. :) Usually they fell over into the water bong and munchies, or into the stereo. One of my friends actually put his foot through one of the stereo speakers, and went goose-stepping around the flat like Basil Fawlty. Had to be there, but two of the 6 of us present actually laughed so much they spewed.
