what about the "kids" playing there hearts out at cov? I say fuck em. ACL are as much to blame as the Council and sisu the whole lot can frig off!!

Of course I care about our own, but hel these might 15/16 year olds why not make it a time for them to remember, a lot of anger I understand, but we should pack it to prove a point.

Equally they need to make sure they're the "going concern" Lucas says they are, don't they?

What's that got to do with the price of cheese?

AFAIK all the Ricoh has to do is provide the benefits it's shareholders run it for (economic and social benefit to the city) this seems right up that alley to be honest. As does cutting a deal for the local pro team who are down on their luck that couldn't be offered by a private institution.

The project as a whole has to be a going concern, not every single transaction.

LOL!

No mate, it proves that the cost of using the Ricoh is proportional to how it's being used. This lot will need the pitch only and there will be no security, no cleanup, no food and beverage.

The cost to open all stands and put on a Championship/L1 experience is obviously going to be waaaay higher than letting a youth team and a few dads in.

Obviously yes, but it still needs people to let the dads in, people to look after the pitch, people to turn the flood lights on, will they use the underfloor heating to keep it nice for them, who is going to clean the changing rooms etc.

don't play on weekends so doesn't seem to affect any chance of us coming back.

I was just about to say otherwise ,and that this is probably a symbolic statement, both to SISU and us fans ,coupled with AL's many recent statements suggesting moving on.

We may all want to go back and i'm sure she knows that and wants that ,but they will have to survive and the gamble the club has made ,may just get trumped,so this may be symbolic .

Thanks for not changing. :D

You crack me up man. I can just imagine you on a day out "Dad I'm hungry". Are you son? Or maybe you've just got a stomach bug, perhaps you're suffering from delusions, you really can't say for sure that it's food you need. "But Dad I haven't eaten all day!" How do I know that? I haven't been with you. You could've had a sandwich while my backs turned.

It just gets better this:

FootballCV Reds is the club name of the FootballCV Academy, originally known as FCV Reds the Academy reverted to their current name in July 2009. The Reds originally played their home fixtures at Nene Park (former home of the FootballCV Academy) in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire and held their first ever match on Wednesday 5th September 2007.

Now ACL have decided to steal a team from Northamptonshire, FFS this is one big joke.

Probably Christ the King? Largesr youth and kids footie club in Europe (apparently). I'm more interested what KCIC and the trust think of this. They are against SISU but only with the playing outside the City. If ACL are actively seeking a new tenant then for me that changes my opinion of building a new stadium.

PS: Bins not emptied again? :D

So last season our costs were half those in the championship. Are you saying the heating, lighting, floodlights, maintenance of all the surrounding site are proportionate to the number of attendees?

Ah well they charged the charity full whack but this lot and Leicester get it cheaper. Makes you proud.

You are a piece of work, I know you are smart enough to know you are massively misrepresenting everything.

Until sisu lay the cornerstone for a new stadium - and as long the JR is unsettled - ACL will have to leave room for the club to come back.
Why ? ACL have their own business to run. Both CCFC and ACL seem to have moved on. Both quote's from
Fisher and Lucas.

You really think ACL have stolen them ??
At least one team appreciates the fantastic facilities that our club's owners have discarded.
The Ricoh is lying empty.
Cut the political bullshit out, and let the kids play there.

I thought the charity got it for free?

So what calibre of tenant were everyone (Grendel) expecting then? Because there's not any the size of CCFC anywhere close that need it, so wasn't exactly going to be mind blowing.
It's hiring out a venue just the same as it did to Leicester, CCFC ladies..
They supposed to just let the pitch not be used?
And they'll be charged proportional to the usage.
Remember CCFC not only used the stadium on match days, but had a shop, office space, computer servers usage in a daily basis.
But trying to explain this to some people is pissing in the wind.

I want the kids to play there, but had it been a local Coventry youth side then fantastic, but it's Northamptonshire team, so the question then asks how many of those kids will be able to make the 70 mile trip to play there?

By "obviously" do you mean "that's the only explanation that means I don't have to reconsider my views"?

Could be all sorts of things, fact is it costs more to open all stands and have a game for 10k people than it does for 100 or so.

I know you're just doing your "grrrr council thing" but so you know, this relates to Grendel laughing at anyone who suggests a phoenix club could play at the Ricoh. Because ACL would never do it for free and the costs would cripple anyone non-league. I'd say either way, this proves him wrong.

I agree with you. Any club could play there with the right overall deal.

I almost thought It was nailed on with CV in their name ,even better CV Red as In politics ,maybe they headhunted them just for the name.

The FootballCV Academy are delighted to announce an agreement with the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, that will see the Academy play 8 competitive matches at the 36,609 seater stadium during the 2014/15 season.
Having played host to number of sporting events over the years, the Ricoh Arena has welcomed the England U21's, Heineken Cup semi-finals and the Women's FA Cup Final. But nothing may come much bigger than the Olympic Games, with the stadium being selected as the Midlands venue for the London 2012 Olympic Football Tournament.
Featuring two fully equipped medical rooms, fully functional dressing rooms for the home and away teams and match day officials, Academy students will now have a golden opportunity to play a number of fixtures of this fantastic venue.

Looking at it, it isn't just a random sunday kid's team to be fair so I think they will have money behind them so I take the subs comment back!

No it just proves the council and ACL are greedy scum. They said that the club when we syed there had to pay fixed overheads as ACL could not pay themselves. This proves that statement to be false - it proves what I have said all along - the council and its quango have only ever wanted the club when it was a cash cow that they could leach off.

Unusually incoherent response, even by your normal standards. Too much coffee, perhaps?

And there's that bullshit "cash cow" phrase again. Remind me again how much profit the council made from the club.

I'll give you a clue, it's a million times the total dividends that ACL paid its shareholders. In other words, nothing.

Who cares what ACL do with the pitch. Until (or if) the club comes back it might as well be used by somebody...

This is the biggest gripe I have with it.
What's wrong with getting a local youth team in there.
Joke.

As FootballCV Reds were clearly not 'stolen' as you put it, i can only assume that FootballCV Reds approached ACL, and actually WANT to play 35 miles away in such a fine stadium.
As it's empty, why not let them ?
After all, it's not CCFC's stadium any more - ask Tim and Joy.
Most clubs aspire to play in better stadiums, not worse.
It's much better than Steel Park (Corby Town FC's ground)
I guess no other teams from Coventry asked.

They train at St Georges park which is much closer to coventry than northampton and they currently play in corby which is slightly closer to northampton than the ricoh but not by much.

but seriously who cares, it doesn't affect us, presumably they are doing it because its best for them, its bizarre to sit here trying to find reasons when its bad for them when we don't know their situation at all and they presumably are doing whats best for themselves (I know our football club doesn't but everyone other one does)

it's not embarrassing or a joke, my niece learnt to ride a bike in the concert venue at the ricoh this week, that's not embarrassing, it doesn't mean the ricoh can't attract decent things.

How are they affording it? Not just opening the stands but the staff at the ground, groundsmen, under soil heating, flood lights etc. It would be interesting to see if the non attendance based fees are the same as what CCFC had to pay.

I don't think £3 subs each is going to cover the flood lights.
They were prepared to offer it to us for whatever the actual cut price offer was given our potential gates if we came back. It might mean that they can offer it to sides with fewer supporters for next to nothing e.g. within their budget. Might be a bonus if you've booked a pitch view room as you'd at least get to watch some football. Not us but it is still football - this seems like a shot across the bows of the ship Sisu. At least someone is using the pitch - just a pity that it isn't us.

Unsurprisingly the people who claimed not to give a damn whatever happened to the Ricoh/ACL if CCFC weren't there, now seem to care the most.

Your joking right? I can imagine fisher, seppella and waggot reading this and saying "this is moving on right" and laughing. It's further evidence the place is a white elephant - ultimately it could become a huge burden to the Coventry taxpayer if this is allowed to carry on. I worry for the citizens of the city, I really do.

I think most are missing the point around this through anger and embarrassment ,This Is symbolism ,whether we think It's a joke that ACL can attract A N other to the site ,It may be bluff ,but thats the signal i'm reading.
