I think there’s something in this. Robins sacked before heading into international break.

Carsley last couple of games as interim England manager in the international break.

Carsley very good coach and managed England U21s. We have a young squad. Ex captain and player for us.

Coaches at Strachan academy in Coventry.

I wouldn’t mind him in.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, but I don’t see how ex player & captain has any relevance at all

Think out of the options he’s the best pick out the bunch.

Plays attractive football. Won a couple of trophies with younger lads and has that experience of how to manage them.

Seems to be a big personality from his playing days and has local links to the area.

Think we could do worse (looking at you Ryan low)

Club management is a totally different beast though and there’s no pressure at all in managing the U21s. We would again need someone to learn on the job when we don’t have time for that.

That’s fair. Just seems the best out of the few on the high betting odds. If it was up to me Ruben Selles might be my pick

Oggy works at Strachan too.
He'd be in the know if Carsley was coming in.
Doesn't sound like it by his comments today.

I have not heard a single name that even comes close to licking Mark Robin's boots. You don't sack a real gem with credit in the bank and not replace him with someone better. So who could we get that is better than Robin's? Would you have any of those names mentioned over Mark Robins? If King is to get the fans instantly back on side he better have something good up his sleeve......

Taken over from Robins before as our manager.

Declined the job on a longer period.

Has never coached a club other than youth level but was temporarily in charge with us (twice), Birmingham and Brentford.

This is a calculated move and therefore i think King knows exactly the type of hire he wants. I wouldn't be shocked if its a name not been mentioned on bookies list or on the forum. I can see a young coach with European knowledge or background who is more of a tactician than a motivator.

Whoever it is needs to make an instant impact because fans need to know we are going in the right direction. Robins is a really hard act to follow and in truth could be an impossible one, its going to be a brave kind to take this on.

In my opinion there are 2 options of what’s happened.

1. The successor is already lined up. Carsley would make sense as to why that hasn’t been immediately announced yet to let him focus on these last England matches.

2. If we don’t have anyone already lined up then there must’ve been a major relationship break down between them that blew up even more after Derby. Probably started from missing out on targets over the past few months.

The idea he’d just sack him without even knowing who would want to come to us is majorly irresponsible and strikes me more of an emotive decision after an argument rather than purely on the pitch (even acknowledging how turgid the Derby performance was).

If it’s not a so called big name, Carsley makes sense given the doubling down on the new structure. I think who we appoint will be a big indication on what DK is willing to invest in the upcoming transfer windows. I can’t see Carsley, Lampard etc agreeing to join if they haven’t been promised serious backing which worries me if it fails we could be in the shite once again

I don’t even like the term head coach. The thought of some yes man coming in as an addition to that gaggle of clipboard carrying, tablet toting, stopwatch swinging bunch of no marks is quite nauseating.

I spose the added bonus with Carsley is his connections to the Youth set ups. Although DK appears averse to Loans.
